A little late on the review, played Wednesday morning hoping to avoid the rain. I guess because of the forecast, the course was rather empty, so had no problem getting out and around quickly. The weather actually wasn't too bad, a little rain but nothing very hard.

Course was about as expected, based upon the prior review. Greens were decent, but a bit bumpy/slow. Fairways were good/bad depending upon where the ball came to rest. Since I did not expect much, I wasn't that disappointed with conditions. I was happier that the weather was suspect which allowed me to get out and around so easily.

I realize Willowick is not a "top tier" course, but I always enjoy my times here. I miss these old style traditional courses, like the ones I grew up playing

Teed off Friday at 7am finishing in just under 4 hours. The greens were in decent condition. They rolled good at medium speed and held shots. The fairways had much better coverage from the last time I played here over a year ago. A few thin spots but good coverage overall. The fairways have several types of grass so the lie can vary from one spot to the next. The rough was fair with a some thin/bare spots. The bunkers are fair. The tee boxes are fair but some are not so level. Willowick won't win any awards for overall condition but $26 to walk on a week day in Orange County is pretty good. The new thing at Willowick is GolfBoards (did not find out how much they cost to rent). The staff is friendly.

The tee boxes are fine as are the traps. If you shoot in the 70s here fine move on to tougher tracks but if you dont then enjoy a few pars and birdie and dont take it to seriously we never do and always leave happy

It had been a few years since I played here. I have always enjoyed this old style traditional course. The reason I do not play here often is because it's always super busy in the early morning, combined with a lot of back nine play, which adds up to some slower rounds than I prefer. However, today, we were the third group off behind a couple twosomes, and I guess because we just took it nice and easy, we only waited a few times, playing in just under 3 hours on a beautiful autumn morning.

I was surprised just how nice the greens were. They were smooth, rolled well, and very receptive to shots. Fairways were a mixed bag, some great lies, some not so good. Rough was at best fair, very spotty, thin, etc. Only in one bunker and it was fine. Since we played "the tips" that area of the tee boxes were in good shape, but many of the tees had areas which were rather beat up.

This is such a charming little course. Wish there were more of these type old style, traditional, walkable courses around. It's just fun basic no frills golf at an affordable price. ($26 for green fee, hot dog and drink)

This caused a whole lot of different and unusual lies. Rough not a factor if it even existed- most of the time it didn't. Sand traps ok, with hard pan underneath. Greens were in good shape but putted really slow. 26 bucks on a Friday to walk- it comes with a hot dog and a drink...

WHY: Golf was 1st on the to do list
No one was available for a round of 18, so I decided to go by myself, with myself, and for myself. Checking in was prompt and pleasant; as expected, i was paired up with another 2-some for the round.
Course was better than average for playing condition, could be much better (that was probably why the rate was so attractive, especially in OC). There were more bald spots at tee boxes than there were grass, had to tee 10 yards back on some holes just to get a better striking spot. Fairways were average and harder than most courses, dried, and bald in some areas. Roughs were actually in better conditions than most fairways. Greens were above average for the most parts; there were a few that can really need cleaning as well as repairing. Overall, it was decent for the price; will still be on the list for the last resource. It was a great day for me personally, as long as there is golf in the day-the day will be complete.

From tee to green, stay away from this course and save your money. There's reason why there are coupons for $28 and with lunch. Terrible conditions. If you have back or neck problem, you're putting your self at risk. The cart path and fairway are bumpy as hell. Seems like you're off-roading instead of being on a golf course. Tee boxes are relatively leveled. Traps are inconsistent. Greens were spongy, soft, slow and divots galore. As for "golf" attire, none. You can literally walk up in your pajama and still get to play. My rule of thumb is, if the course DO NOT enforce dress code = they don't care and it reflects on the conditions of the course as well. Never coming back

After playing Champions Club last week and getting my "House of Cards" golf game pushed over, I needed to play with only flat lies and parallel fairways... Willowick fits the bill. It's an old course designed before there was such a thing as personal injury lawyers - so there are half a dozen places you will be standing and realize you are a simple errant shot from a stranger away from a giant throbbing bruise.

Willowick is a very Muni with OK tee boxes and fairways - I felt like my ball "sat down" a lot in the grass no matter where on the course I was. The rough is not very punitive but the meteor craters they have for sand traps can be a crapshoot of sand and lies. Well travelled and unloved areas have given up trying to grow grass and hard pan is scattered around - sometime VERY inconveniently. Greens are soft and slow. They had not been punched recently and they guy at the front desk didn't think they would be punched in the near future. The locals I played with said they were typical and perhaps slightly faster than average...

I hadn't played here in years and it seemed exactly in the same shape as it was the last time I played - so there is a consistency there. I was going to complain about a couple of bunkers that had gotten very woolly but the grounds crew read my mind and had almost completely fixed them by the time I was playing the backside.

Even though I felt I didn't play that well - it was a 16 shot improvement from Champions Club - mission accomplished!

Played on Friday at 8:45 tee time. Took us about 4 hrs 15 min. Course is in fair shape after the rains. Greens, tee boxes and bunkers were good shape. Took a cart but an easy course to walk.
