Rode the Purple tees (6676/72.1/136) in 4H twilight on a GN "Hot Deal". Played with Joe, Don and Craig, nice guys to play with. Hazy, breezy and around 105. Tees mostly lush and level with few divots. Fairways lush and good to play from. Rough very lush. Ball sat up, not overly penal except it cost you roll. Usually good to chip out of. Greenside traps had good quality sand. Decently maintained, just too thin. Waste bunkers were firm and not as well maintained as the greenside traps. Large greens very disappointing. Late summer bumpy Bermuda, they putted medium speed and were firm. You had to play for rollout. Customer Service always excellent here from when you drop your clubs off out front to when you pick them up after the round. No Drink Cart today. Ice/water stations every few holes. Nice GPS on upgraded carts that have ports for electronics. The all grass driving range is included and is excellent with a nice practice chipping area. Excellent and very fun layout to play. Recommended, IMO the best public course in the Palm Springs area. Just not in as good of shape as it usually is.

Played Firecliff today. It was my second time, the first having been a few years ago at a GKplays. My friend, new Gkr jibnjab, and I had a 7:40am tee time in an attempt to beat the 108 degree heat. I was greeted in the parking lot with a cart and check in was fast and friendly.

Range balls were included so I headed out for a few minutes. There were only about 10 stalls open and they were at the very back of the range, behind all the level ground where it slopes down to the cart path. The grass was pretty chewed up but it really was ok. Warming up with all uphill lies was kind of nice. The large chipping and putting area was in very nice shape. I wish I had putted a bit as maybe it would have helped save a few putts on the course. We started on time, paired with a very nice twosome.

The course was in absolutely beautiful shape. The fairways were completely lush- no thin spots to be found. The tee boxes were all level with little to no divot damage. The bunkers–and I was in several- were great. The fairway traps were firm and very easy to hit from. I’m really enjoying using my new hybrid for shots like that. The greenside bunkers were big, deep and had plenty of clean soft sand. The greens were firm and rolled smoothly, The grass was just long enough, though, to cause a very noticeable difference in speed with or against the grain. Really fast one way, almost sluggish the other.

The layout is very enjoyable. There are a few narrow holes with water danger, and plenty of nice wide fairways too. Lots of undulations and bunkers everywhere really keep things interesting. Clean bathrooms and several water/ice stations around the course were appreciated. The beverage cart came by three times and another cart brought ice cold mango (?)- scented towels. Now that was a nice touch! POP was good at just over 4 hrs.

If you don’t mind the summer heat, go play! Highly Recommended.

Played out here with the GK Crew at the end of April. Had an amazing time. The course is always in amazing shape and the staff is always amazing. One course that has never let me down.

Arrival is easy with a roundabout to drop your clubs off. Then it's off to the practice range. I always like to get here 90 minutes early. Gives you time to warm up on the range. Natural turf to hit off of. Then move on to the chipping green and finally to the putting green. Makes the day on the course enjoyable when you get to practice before had. Practice greens played just like the course.

On the course, I found the fairway more often than not. It was a good day, the couple of times I was in the rough it was a fair length. Sand was in great shape as always. Greens rolled smooth and fast. Didn't really speed up as the day went on either. Found them very consistent.

This is always one of my favorite public courses in the Desert, and take every opportunity I can to play.

Great day Saturday playing the FireCliff Course with Ron, Pat and Mike. Golf course was in fantastic shape and the weather low 90’s with some light wind on the back nine. Man I love this track the more I play it. Loaded with risk reward golf holes and challenging shots tee to green.

Big thanks again (please check out my outing recap/photos in the forums) to everyone that came out. My apologies for the confusion after play on set up and very much appreciate those that could stick around after golf. I’m sure you did not regret waiting after all the awesome Linksoul gear given out.

I thought playing conditions for the golf course were outstanding. Especially for late April. Greens moderately fast, smooth and mostly firm. Fairways lush beautiful lies and some run out. Rough kept low but dense making it challenging greenside. Tee boxes lush with some divot damage (played the purple tees). Bunkers, well-groomed with exception some footprints players did not bother to rake. Also I noticed a few of the bunkers were low on sand. However the sand in the bunkers was high quality.

From an organizer standpoint the staff is excellent and facilities are hard to beat. An outing on the FireCliff Course stages amazing due to the exceptional practice area, clubhouse, bag drop, golf carts and first tee together. Makes is very easy to keep track of everyone. After play the patio is incredible to hang out on. Only bummer about this outing was the golf course was hosting a wedding at the same time we finished so F & B was not available. Normally we have a fantastic experience after our events on their patio. Desert Willow Golf Resort will have another chance to show off their patio as we will for sure have another outing there next year.

Played 2-24-21 in the GKplays with John, Mike, and Pat for a fun round of golf on a nice course. Tee boxes were in good shape, mostly level and lush, nice to hit from. Fairways were in very nice shape, wall to wall green carpet with decent roll out and great lies. Rough was in good condition, not to long and fairly easy to hit from. Was in four greenside bunkers, first one was in good shape with a good layer of sand, but the remaining three all were on the thin side with the liner showing through in some areas. Greens were rolling very nice, medium/fast and mostly smooth, and playing semi-soft. Fun course to play and the company made it even better. Big thanks to Desert Willow and Johnny for setting this up.

Great day on Saturday with GK, playing one of my favorite courses in the desert. Great practice area and a very nice clubhouse facility with great customer service from all staff. I was in the last group with Nick, Jay, and Joe. The course is currently in great shape. You could see the Bermuda grass beginning to pop up in the greens, but they rolled true and fast. The greens were firm and there were few ball marks to fix. The fairways and rough were in excellent shape. I did not see any thin areas and it looked pristine from tee to green. The rough was not penal at all; that's a plus in my book. Fairways were generous with great landing areas and good roll. Tees were great as well. I played the Purple/Lavender combo. All were level and had nice grass to hit from; maybe a little beat up on the par 3's but that's to be expected. Bunkers were all good. I think Nick and I had several sand saves between us on the front nine alone. It was nice to have rakes available for use. Not used to seeing that recently. This is a great course overall for appearance and it just fits my eye for my game. Carts are very comfortable and have a really nice GPS screen. The staff is attentive and super helpful. The beverage cart came by often and there is water and ice available at the restrooms. All in all a great course and I hope to make it back here often.

Played in the GK event, one of my favorite courses in the area.

The course was in great shape like usual. Greens were fairly quick and smooth, there was some ball mark damage but not a ton. By the end of the day, the greens had hardened quite a bit and balls were taking fairly hard first bounces. Fairways were good, occasional thin lie, tee boxes were good, some thin spots ands a couple places weren't perfectly flat. This was a complete non-issue because 90% of each tee box was still in perfect shape. Bunkers were near perfect to my liking, less sand than some other courses but I prefer it that way.

I played in the GK Play, on April 24th, at Desert Willow Firecliff. This course/resort, was hard to find any flaws here. They have a large practice area. They have over 20 bays to hit (unlimited) balls. The putting area is large, undulating surface with many holes to putt at. They also have a separate chipping area with many balls to hit. You can spend a good full day here. Now to the actual golfing... The landscape and scenary is breath taking. Palm trees, ficus, and all sorts of variety of trees and plants. The tee boxes are firm and flat with little to no major divots. Some of the holes can be a bit intimidating with desert landscape separating tee box to fairways... So, select the correct tee box for your ability, or you will be embarrassed and frustrated, not making the fairways on your drives. The fairways are perfect, like carpet. Firm, and a bit plush, giving you great lies, when hitting from the fairway, approaching the green. The rough had 2 rough levels. First cut, low enough to hit from, fairway.the 2nd level was a bit long, about an 1 1/2-2, but playable, long enough to hold till out drives from rolling to far into trouble. Bunkers are nice, with good quality sand. Racks are there, so USE THEM! The greens are firm, fast, maybe med-fast. Putts rolled, very true. This is definitely a MUST PLAY... Those of who missed this event, will regret this great opportunity. I can't wait until we come back... I'm in!

Early afternoon round with the GK group in a little over four hours. The staff, facility and carts are all top notch. The tee boxes were all level and in great shape with only the par three boxes being well worn. The rough was in nice condition and uniform throughout the course. The fairways were excellent with total coverage and provided for good roll on good shots. I did find some tighter and drier lies than I was used to but still nice to hit from. The traps were consistent and in fantastic shape with rakes and firmly packed with enough sand for our group. The greens were also great with only a couple showing any sign of ball marks. They were a little slower than most we play and seemed to have little break. Most did not hold shots real well so we had to keep that in mind when hitting our approach shots. There are several water features with a few forced carries which make for a little more challenge. The area is prone to winds and we encountered that late in the round which added to the difficulty. Highly recommended place for an enjoyable quality round of golf!
