Played here Super Bowl Sunday 2/11 as a single paired with a threesome of an older couple and a sister in law, all in their 70s from Canada down on a golf trip. They'd played here a lot and told me as a first timer that I was in for a treat and they were not kidding. The history of the course is pretty cool as it used to be private then fell into hard times but now it's back to its former glory. The layout is fairly typical for resort style courses, routing you thru homes but the backdrops of the mountains was really incredible. A perfect February day with full sunshine, minimal wind and mid 60s temps, I couldn't have asked for better conditions. The course itself looks pristine. From teebox to green I couldn't find any real blemishes. Fairways were a pleasure to hit from, rough could get a little sticky but not too penal, and the bunkers were full of fluffy sand. Truly felt like you were playing a private course. Speaking of which, the service is top notch. After I pulled into the parking lot someone came out to my car with the cart and loaded me up. Then checked in and went across the street to the grass range (which if we're being picky, didn't offer great lies) and putting green. Ordered a sandwich as the restaurant and it took longer than expected but they wound up sending someone out to deliver it to my cart on the second hole. Decided to play up to the bronze tees with the other gentleman to keep things more social and at 6000 yards it was neither short nor long. Certainly helped playing with someone with some course knowledge as there are plenty of holes where what you see is what you get but on the dogleg holes his advice certainly helped on where to aim. POP was perfect, just about 4 hours. Had a really great time and was happy to have played here. Would definitely make it a point to come back and play here or the south course next time I visit.

What a great place!!! everything- majestic mountain views on every hole/course conditions/friendliness of staff, was TOP NOTCH.

I'll start with staff:
- We were greeted in the parking lot by someone with a big smile and friendly greeting who brought out a cart and loaded us up.
- I messed up on booking a tee time, I'd made it for the following day, and we weren't on the tee sheet. Not a problem for "Murph" who cheerfully and without a snarl or fresh remark worked us in between groups. Perfect-Thank you so much Murph!!!!
- The tees were lush and you didn't need a sledgehammer to bang your tee in the ground. There were no brown spots to be seen. Fairways were in great shape as well. The greens were on the softer side than what I've mostly seen but the ball ran true and quick- no issues there.
- And ALL the staff, pro shop/Murph/starter/ranger/beverage cart driver/bartender in clubhouse could not have been nicer. Everyone wore a smile and were more than very friendly. I commented to Murph, who is a spvsr of inside and outside personnel, how great everyone was to my partner and I. He said he trains folks to give guests the private country club experience. Well we certainly got that!!! He's done a great job.

Played here Sunday, 11/29 with an 11:50 “Deal” time from TeeOff.com. It was $50 but I had a 20% off promo code, so I paid $40. Arrived around 11:20 and they drove my cart over to my car as soon as I parked, and then that same attendant checked me in for Covid purposes. This was a first for me – she asked for a credit card in case anything happened to the cart, saying that because I paid through TeeOff/GolfNow, they don’t have any access to my payment info. Not a big deal, but a little out of the ordinary. She offered to get me started right away, but I wanted to putt for a bit and loosen up. I still started about 10 minutes early, paired with two guys from Northern California kicking off a weeklong desert golf trip. (Envious!) We had to wait a little bit on every hole, but pace was excellent at 3:30 overall.

Conditions are decent, relatively speaking for desert courses this time of year. The greens were really nice, although some had some light spots but it didn’t seem to affect putting at all. They ran medium-fast, very smooth and about medium firmness. Fairways were mostly lush rye, but there are some thinner spots where the overseed didn’t take very well. The good grass is a little shaggy for fairway, presumably to let it grow in more successfully. Not bad, just a bit longer than you’d expect fairway grass to be. Rough seemed partially overseeded, a mix of brown and green and different grasses, but overall not bad. Tee boxes were nice. Bunkers I was in were good. 90-degree rule in effect for driving on the fairways.

I had never played here. I first played the South course 30+ years ago and have always wanted to notch this one off the list, but just never got around to it. It’s a very straightforward, generic old-school “Palm Springs” course for the most part. It is quite long, though, and I didn’t even play the blues. (The guys I was paired with were already teed up on the whites and I just decided to join them.) It reminded me a bit of Tahquitz Creek Legends or Mesquite. It’s definitely a step down from its sister course across the street, but a decent course overall with great mountain views. It saves the best hole for last with a beautiful 18th hole par-5 with a big dogleg left and an approach over a lake, complete with a giant fountain.

COVID stuff: Masks required in and around the clubhouse, check in was in the parking lot as I mentioned, no divot sand bottles on the carts (unfortunate when their overseed wasn’t super successful), there was an ice chest and water bottles and tees in the cart. Pins had a little plastic disc that prevented the ball from falling down more about an inch into the cup. Beverage cart came around several times.

Unrelated to this review specifically, but I went across the street to just take a couple pics of South and its overseed was incredibly successful. The course looked amazing and a guy who walked by confirmed that it’s in spectacular condition right now.

After searching for a reasonable rate to play for my son and I in Palm Springs, ended up booking a 7:40 twosome at Indian Canyon North for $69 each and I’m glad I did because the track was in great shape.
The starter let us go out on our own and we played in just under four hours and that’s because we had a threesome in front of us that struggled. The fairways were in great shape, maybe because they enforce the 90 degree rule, while the rough was high enough to create some trouble. The greens were in great shape and ran fast, the starter advised us not to read much break but we couldn’t help it and it cost us some strokes (you’d think because the mountain is right next to you it would create some break but most of the time it didn’t).
Really enjoyed the whole outing from the host, the starter and the great course. My son can’t stop talking about it and we’ll definitely be back.
Oh and I’d like to thank GK because while doing my research for a place to play, Indian Canyon had a rating of 8.5 by GK and I thought for $69, it would be a great value and it didn’t disappoint. Thanks GK!!!!

Played the Blues (6943/73.1/128) Friday 6/2 as a single. The weather was hot, over 100 with little breeze by mid morning. I zipped around in barely 2H. Did not see more than 5 other groups on the entire course. The Pro Shop told me that they keep the more popular South course open during the summer and that the North will be over seeded in September and reopening in October. So no need to again go over the better than average condition of the course since it is closing for 3+ months. I was one of the last people to play here yesterday before they closed for the summer. Sad, because the conditions here one day before they were closing this course was better than the majority of courses in Southern California. Several notes not mentioned in the course review from a day earlier. The can do attitude of the staff was exceptional. They pick up you bag @ your trunk in the parking lot and after cleaning up your clubs, drop them back there after the round. Also impressed that on 2 different occasions different members of the maintenance crew stopped their mowers about 100 yards from where I was playing. Nice clubhouse (somewhat dated) that has a gym and locker room for the members. They have a couple of LARGE dry lakes that are now played as waste areas. The 220 yard par 3 16th hole over a waste area would be really intimidating for the average player with a full lake just short of the green. I could see several holes that were probably tougher when those 2 lakes were full of water. Having seen the course once gave me some additional insight into which holes were really tight, and which ones just appeared tight from the tee. I hit Driver on a couple of holes I had used a long iron on the first time through and hit long irons on a couple of holes I mistakenly thought were driver holes on my 1st attempt here. Going from two to one OB shot off the tee accounted for my 2 stroke decrease in score the 2nd time around. Doglegs are usually guarded by multiple trees that longer hitters may or may not be able to go over/around. Definitely some scoreable holes here, but there are some tough holes mixed in. Not a super hard, tricked up course, I found it very enjoyable to play. Recommended.

Played the Blues (6943/73.1/128) in slightly less than 3H as a single. The weather was clear, breezy and nearing 100 by the time I was finishing a little after 10am. My 1st time playing here. The majority of holes are ringed by middle class homes with OB down both sides. Numerous par 4's are likely not Driver holes for longer hitters. Tight in many places, if you miss the fairway by 15 yards on either side you stood a good chance of being OB on many holes. However, there were a few grip it and rip it holes too. Traditional Palm Springs 35-37 par 72 layout. William F. Bell design, circa early 60's. The layout is not awe inspiring by 2017 standards, although it did host some pro tournaments back in the day. You definitely got your money's worth on the four par 3's, as they averaged close to 200 yards each (191, 178, 204 & 220) from the Blues... and several of those seemed to play longer than the yardage indicated. The tees were mostly lush with most divots already filled in. The fairways & rough were both semi lush with some brown areas. They are closing for the summer this weekend and you could tell they had quit watering some areas. I was impressed that the pro shop informed me of this when I made the tee time. The Bermuda greens putted nice. Firm and medium to medium fast speed. As Matt warned in his recent review, you definitely had to account for run out even on high, well struck short irons. The sand traps had too many small rocks in them to be classified as good. Decently maintained from a raking perspective. The customer service was excellent from everyone. They let me out the back 20 minutes before my tee time as a single and I pretty much had the course to myself, because by the time I made the turn all the early players were finished with the front. Plenty of water stations and I saw the Player Assistant several times making the rounds. Overall, enjoyed the course and the experience. Would like to come and play here again when over seeded and in prime condition. Good course, recommended.

Played early afternoon on 5/20 for a good deal on golfnow. Everything was in really solid shape. Fairways and rough were both really good with the very occasional thin patch. Tee boxes were overall flat with good coverage. Greens were rolling well with medium speed but were rock hard. My buddy that I played with is a high spin player and the looks of confusion as his wedges were releasing 20 feet were high comedy. Keep that in mind if you head out here soon.

So. Much. GREEN!! The course has come out of overseeding brilliantly and looks absolutely wonderful. It doesn't appear to get as much play as others in the area so even divot damage is at a minimum. Everything was lush and green and I had no complaints other than a few coots and crazy pin locations.
It's far from the most interesting course in the valley, and the winding through houses isn't my cup of tea but it is in fantastic shape right now and well worth the $59 deal we had on golfnow.

Played 9-28-15 mid morning for $28 riding in about 3 1/2 hours. Course is in nice end of summer condition. Tees were in good shape mostly level maybe a little bit to long but not to bad. Fairways were a little thin and slightly dried out but still had good lies. Rough was cut down pretty low off the fairways but was longer around the greens about 2-3 inches. Didn't go in any sandtraps but they were in the process of filling them with nice white sand. Greens were in good shape rolling medium speed and holding shots real nice. Course is mostly flat running through an old neighborhood.
