Made a bit of a drive out to El Prado to play Sat 3/4 at 11:15. Having read the reviews had an idea of what to expect but not sure it even met my lowered expectations. First off, driving range was clo... Continue »

Got out for a 1:05 pm tee time with two buddies. After reading past reviews, I was cognizant to not get my hopes up too high and temper my expectations. I would say that they were almost met, with con... Continue »

Topic: Maintenance Alert!
Posted: Apr 15, 2016
I just spoke with Greg at El Prado, and he informed me that the Butterfield Stage Course had the greens aerated on Wednesday April 13, using a very narrow gage tyne. He said the procedure left the greens in good shape. I'll be out there this weekend, and will report back. In the meantime, it might b...

As I stated in my review posted on 8/17, it is probably time to remove the maintenance alert. The greens are in fine shape on all 18 holes of Butterfield Stage just 2 weeks after being punched. And the Chino Creek course, at least according to the pro shop attendant, is in better shape, so it too ...

A good finishing hole, with ample risk/reward. From the tee, favor middle right, but avoid the 2 fairway bunkers that line the right side. Note that the left side has water that comes into play at 3 different points - stay center/right. A good drive leaves opportunity to reach green in 2 for longer hitters, otherwise it's a 3-shot hole. Green is guarded left and right by bunkers, leaving a narrow gap through which a good running shot could reach the green. Green slopes back to front.

Wind is usually in your face at the tee on this medium length par 4. From the tee, favor left side of fairway to avoid bunker, trees and OB on right side. But beware the water hazard on left side, which starts about 140 yards from green. Wind may require 1 club more for approach to green. Thick rough around green can make for tough play.
