Wow, what a find. Played ST after 5PM Wednesday, 10/13, and loved it. Very scenic with wetlands, coastal sage lining fairways, elevation changes. First time in a long time I'd give greens a 9 - firm, fast, held shots, looked great - no evidence of aeration as shown on Greenskeeper.org , so they haven't started or greens have healed up already. Fairways cut close and in great condition. Sand good. Only regret is that I ran out of light after 12 holes and missed the closing holes, which look challenging. Highly recommended - too bad it's so far out of the way and hard to get to. Saw two of the biggest coyotes I've ever seen adjacent to the 3rd hole - made sure I had a club in my hands at all times after that!

Played 1pm twilight. Much cooler in Oceanside than IE but had to stop play after 5 holes due to lightening strikes all around us. After an hour break, resumed on 10th hole due to persistent drizzle/rain and wanting to finish before dark. Course in great shape. Tee grounds are somewhat hit and miss but the fairways and greens were great. They say 1/2 the greens were aerated a week ago but we didn't notice. Course is also visually very appealing as every hole offered different look and challenge. Sorry we had to miss few holes on front 9 but I'm sure we'll go down and play it again soon.

All of the greens had ball marks that had not healed properly and therefore made putting, on the already slow greens, that much more difficult. You could make the case that these were poorly fixed to start with, or not fixed at all my the perp, but I have not seen anything like this is quite some time. Honestly, and I hate to say it, but it looked like lazy maintenance / lack of attention to me.

The course plays longer than the score card as the downhill holes are generally into the wind. Conditions were excellent. Last three holes are a stern test of golf. Will play again.

Everyone freaked out when JC Resorts managment left in Jan 2010. I was worried as well having had a JC card for 4 years and this was the main course I played. Since the change there has been nothing negative whatsoever. The rates are the same as JC players paid before and the quality is exactly the same if not better.

I played this course for the first time on Saturday 1/23/2010. So Cal was pummeled with rain all week so I was expecting the worst.

The course drained pretty well. Alot of the course was dry considering the amount of rain we received. I think the bunkers received the worst of the damages. They were almost unplayable.

The rough around the greens were cut very thin and patchy at times but didnt bother me too much.

Tee boxes were in good shape but you could tell werent shaved in a couple of days.

The greens were in good shape but far from perfect. As long as the putts roll true I cant complain. People need to fix their divots tho.

Tough course to play for the first time.

Pro shop was very friendly. We had a 12:08 tee time (twilite starts at 12) but they let us out at 11:35.

Saw the cart girl about 4 times and finished 18 holes in 4 hours.

Playing again this Sunday.

Played in the afternoon (late twilight $30) and played the first 9 in about 1:40, unfortunately the 2nd nine took a little over 2 hours... Fairways, rough, bunkers, are all in really good condition. The greens were punched about a month ago by the look of it. They are hard and it looks like the grass is having some trouble filling back in... They roll well but do not break as much as you'd expect.

Definitely worth the late rate. Don't know about the weekend day rate though...

I hadn't made the trip up to Oceanside since the winter. This course, when played from the tips or blues always poses a reasonable challenge. However, the local rule of a free drop for balls entering the "flower-beds" seems overly generous to me, as my playing partner probably saved 5 strokes by invoking the rule - especially from areas that were questionable flower beds. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all.

My likes about the course are....

1. Greens - are generally moderately fast, consistent from hole to hole. Some are unreasonably sloped.
2. Length - I like the course from the tips or the blues - a good challenge.
3. Generally it's always in pretty good shape.

My dislikes.....
1. Bunkers are very inconsistent from one to another. some with deep fluffy sand and some with very little sand in them.
2. No one on this course seems to know how to fix a divot in the fairway or ball marks on the greens.
3. No cart service on this day.
