Played in an SCGA event on Monday and enjoyed the course. Pace was good at under 5 hours. Tees were all level and no real issues. Fairways were a mixed bag, some where thin and some areas looked doormat. For the most part they were playable and gave good roll. Rough was also a mixed bag some areas were thick, around the green was not an issue. It was easy to use the Texas wedge if needed. Sand was in very good shape and well manicured. Greens were fast and smooth. They were listed at a 12 and probably played near that number. You definitely want to stay below the hole. If you are above it you are looking at a 3 putt. They were firm but would hold a well hit shot.

The course is pretty tight with a lot of trees lining the fairways. You can't go left on this course. Left is OB on almost all the holes. The majority of the holes you can miss right but will have to deal with trees. I found the course a good challenge with a decent variety of holes. The course is walkable with some elevation changes but nothing to drastic. It is a private country club but if you get the chance to play at a good price I would give it a shot.

Played in a tournament here yesterday and we were actually pretty quick. I think we finished in a little over 4 hours which was a little surprising because I was expecting it to be a lot longer. Had never played here before so I was curious what the course looked like because I know they used to have the Farmers Monday qualifier here and various other SCGA tournaments. Course reminds me of an old school classic golf course in that everything is tree lined and pretty straight forward.

Greens were ok. A little too bumpy for my liking and I know they had punched a couple of weeks ago so I think they need some more time to heal. They were pretty soft too and not very quick. I really felt I had to pound some putts. There are some spots on the greens where if they are rolling i'm not sure how a ball can stay on the green.

Fairways were pretty good. Didn't have a bad lie in them and generally filled in pretty good. There are some bare and dry areas but I don't remember anything jaw dropping. Not a lot of roll and I'm not sure if that is the softness or because of the kikuyu grass.

I did find some bare spots in the rough and it actually cost me a couple of strokes. Generally the rough is not penal but because they are aligned with trees if you're in there you're probably hitting a punch shot of some kind.

Tees boxes are ok. Because the course is not that long I think even some of the par 4 tee boxes were a little rough in addition to the par 3 tee boxes.

Traps were good. I found quite a few and thought all were in good shape and played well. Sand is that tanish sand which I think plays a little firmer compared to white fluffy sand.

The course is a pretty good test. I certainly would like to have another go at it when the conditions are a little better.

The course is in the best shape that I've seen the past 5 years. I play here once a year in the San Diego Senior's team play, my Pala Mesa team vs El Camino. (we did win the match)

The course is in the best shape that I've seen the past 5 years. I play here once a year in the San Diego Senior's team play, my Pala Mesa team vs El Camino. (we did win the match)

Greens: excellent; smooth, holding with medium fast speed.

Fairway: not a bad lie all day!

Rough: the kikuyu was 1-3" high and quite punishing if you were in the 3" grass.

Traps: firm but playable.

Good short game practice area but no driving range, only driving from mats into a net.

A challenging course, recommend playing here if you get an invite!

Wow, I haven't played here for about 20 years and forgot how sweet this course is. I love the layout, old school, trees, hills, undulating greens, water hazards, OB, the course has it all. They had a member for a day deal for $45 and very well worth it. Course is in great shape tee to green. Tees are nice and level, some of them were absolutely perfect, a couple of them had some divot damage, but overall they were great. Fairways were a little on the burned out side, but always had a great lie, they mowed them kinda US open style, one side of the fairway they mowed away from the teebox and the other side they mowed towards the teebox, so you saw that definitive line in the middle, I love that. Greens were just fine, a little burned out around the edges, but they held shots very well and putted true, a little on the quick side, also. Found one trap and it was just fine, a little hard, but not like hard pan, just not super fluffy. Rough was there, but not too penal.

Overall, get out there if you have a chance, well worth it.

I played today, 6-20-16. I had gotten an email offer of “Member for a Day” for $45. I’ve never played there before but recently have heard from a couple of people that it’s improved a lot so it sounded like a good deal. It got even better when they only charged me $35. I was disappointed that they were out of logo balls, but settled for a poker chip marker. The guy working in the pro shop offered to take my contact information so that they could let me know when they get the balls in again. Nice touch.

I was early so spent a bit on time warming up on their “range” (mats/nets) and the short game area, which was very nice- 2 large greens, 1 bunker and it was well-stocked with balls. The practice green was crazy-fast. I later saw the sign saying the green speed today was 11. The only green on the course that was slower than putting on ice was #1

I was paired with Greg, Mike and Russ, all teachers enjoying their summer hiatus. The course was in wonderful shape. The tee boxes were mostly level with only a few divots on the par 3’s. The fairways are wide with virtually no bad spots. The grass was cut pretty short so there was lots of roll, but it wasn’t tight and hard to hit from. There are lots of trees but the fairways were wide enough that they really didn’t cause any problem (except on #18 when I completely mis-hit my drive). The rough was almost all as green as the fairways and the balls sat up nicely on it. The bunkers were more dirt than sand, but soft, clean and well raked. There were several very scary looking greenside bunkers, but fortunately I was only in 1 of them. The greens were smooth, free of ball marks, and had interesting and sometimes surprising breaks. As previously mentioned they are super fast. Believe me, I am not complaining at all about the speed. I finished the round with only 27 putts!

We finished in a few minutes under 4 hours. We never waited, and rarely even saw anyone else playing. The only things that would have been better would be if the carts had GPS and fold down windshields. They offer the Member-for-a-day deal a few times a year. I will definitely look forward to that again.

This is a private club, i had my club make a tee time on my behalf at El Camino today with 2 friends. Tee'd off at 1pm and finished in 4 hours.

This is a private club, i had my club make a tee time on my behalf at El Camino today with 2 friends. Tee'd off at 1pm and finished in 4 hours.

Customer service was great, everyone was very friendly and welcoming.

There is a putting green and a nice short game area. The range is about 8 stations hitting into a large net, which is fine for warm up.

Keep in mind it rained the last couple days, however the course was not wet and played nicely.

Tee boxes were in good shape and fairly level.

Fairways were nice, a bit thin at times but always had a nice lie.

Rough was patchy and got a few bad lies and when in the rough, usually had tree trouble. doh!

I found a few bunkers and they were decent.

Greens rolled true, a bit on the medium pace. No divot marks and the greens were probably the best part of the day.

will definitely play here again. Enjoyed the course layout.

One of the locals that I was playing with said they got a new greenskeeper that knowns what he is doing and it shows! Greens: smooth, holding and medium to fast speed. Fairway: only fairway that had a few thin spots was #3. The rest were in great condition. Rough: 1-3" high, not very penal. Traps: not a lot of sand but playable. POP: just over 4 hours. Good and reasonable food after the round!

Greens: 3 of the greens are in very bad shape (fungus) and were closed for the past 3-4 weeks, just opened today. The remainder of the greens are just OK. Very disappointing.

Fairways: 30 % of each fairway are thin/hardpan, the balance of the fairway is OK.

Rough: some bare spots, otherwise 1-3" high.

Tees: they were just thatched and are very thin.

Traps: playable.

POP: 4 1/2 hours.

Nice layout but not worth the green fee for today's conditions.
