Played here today in an SCGA outing. I was in the 11:08 group, which was later in the pack. However, things were on time and everybody kept pace. The only slow down was at the turn because they had some food set out and everyone stopped. Front nine was only 2 hours, but back nine 2.5. Still not bad for one of these outings, though.

The course was in decent shape. It looked really nice as I pulled in, but didn't look quite as good close up. Tee boxes were very good throughout. The fairways had multiple grasses and were a bit inconsistent. It appears they were aerated recently, so still in the healing process I hope. The rough was mostly fine and not much of a factor. Sand traps had great sand. The greens also show signs of recent aeration but are almost healed. The practice green rolled much smoother and quicker than the actual greens, in my opinion. Still, they were pretty good overall.

While I was waiting for my tee time, the weather was absolutely gorgeous but the clouds rolled in about 5 minutes before I teed off and it seemed to reveal the course's blemishes more. Clearly, they are dealing with the drought here and the playability is still quite good overall. The layout is good overall, and I thought the hillier back nine was more interesting than the front. The course reminded me a lot of the Sycuan courses. I came in with high expectations as a Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design and such a cool setting. I didn't end up liking it as much as I wanted to, but it's still one I'd recommend checking out.
