Just a note to thank Johnny GK for a very professionally organized outing at Rams Hill. Much appreciation for all his work into getting the GK family into the very best venue we have been given the pleasure to experience. I've been to many big name golf courses but they do not score as high in all the categories as Rams Hill's does. Had a great round watching Willie's amazing birdie run in the back 9, a result of his impeccable patience. Donna is a player too and Jim kept us in good spirits. I apologize for not being able to stay at the post round gathering. I had a 3 hour drive back home. Hope to this again.

I was another one of the lucky ones to tee it up at the GK Plays at Rams Hill this past Sunday. It was quite literally the absolute perfect day to play a round of golf. It was clear and calm and the ideal temperature. Amazing December day.

This is my second time playing (played in the same event last year) Rams Hill and the course seemed so much better the second time around. Remembering a bit of the routing and strategy of the course made a big difference and it showed in my scoring. While the course is definitely right there in front of you, knowing how to play some of the bumps, swales and contours really gave me some confidence around the place. Just a really stellar layout. Tons of fun, fair and not a dull moment in the entire round.

As for the condition of the course, really impressive. If I had to give a little constructive criticism it would be that the turf all around seemed to need a little haircut overall. When I found myself in the rough it felt like the grass was a bit "young" and I'm sure that has to do with the overseeding and the time of year. The deep emerald green of the grass was gorgeous and I never had a bad lie, it just felt like it could have been a little firmer. But that's really splitting hairs.

The staff here is always awesome and I absolutely love hanging out on the patio after the round.

In my opinion this is hand's down the best public course in San Diego county. I'm a huge Rams Hill fan.

Add me to the list of many GKers that played Rams Hill Golf Club Sunday, 12/11. Echoing many, the course was in fantastic shape, I only wish my driving was too! ?? My first time there, it was a diamond in the desert, and we were blessed with a great day - very little wind, mid 70's, and barely a cloud in the sky!

As for the course itself, the fairways were lush, and for the most part fairly roomy, although a few were quite challenging with hills and tilts. The greens were in great shape, but sometimes tough as your ball could land and stick sometimes, and hit and roll off the back side on others. And then there were a couple that had some vicious undulations, causing you to scratch your head while muttering an expletive as your ball rolled and rolled away from the hole. Most the sand traps were very playable. Try to stay out of the rough, as many places could halfway swallow your ball. An added unusual bonus was that on a couple holes you even got to enjoy the sound of the water of their small stream running over the rocks! For longer hitters, there were even a couple holes that challenged you to 'go for it', but not without the 'risk/reward' thought. The course overall was pretty good in length and with some doglegs, fairway sand and water, it made for a fun and challenging day, with the final thought of 'I can't wait to play here again!'

All the staff we ran into were extremely friendly and tried to be sure we were enjoying ourselves. We actually started the day there early with breakfast on the patio - very good service and food, and both of those ideas held throughout the day. Even one of the owners came by while we gathered on the patio after our rounds and thanked the group for visiting! You don't have that happen too often! A class location!!

I also played yesterday with GKplays. I was undecided for the longest time about going, mostly due to the long drive, but I am SO glad I went! I will just say ‘ditto’ to everything everyone else has already said about the perfect weather, fun course, excellent conditions, and great customer service. This is one of the nicest courses I’ve ever played and it’s very well suited to my game. I definitely won’t hesitate next time I have an opportunity to play here.

I also played in the GK Event on Sun. 12/11 Played with Andrew, Kevin and Ben. You couldn't meet three nicer guys. Course is in great shape as other reviews have pointed out.

The only flaw I noticed was the grass in tee boxes was a little long. The greens were soft and held shots and putted quick. Fairways were lush and the rough was not that long but it was sticky. Customer service was excellent.

Every year I say that this is the last time, that Ram’s Hill is just too far a drive and too long a day for me to come back ……. And every year I sign up again, because this course fits my eye and I enjoy playing it, and the conditions here are so much better than almost anywhere else in SoCal, and I enjoy the camaraderie and companionship of the GK family. The wind dropped off after the first few holes and it was sunny and clear and beautiful. The course was in great shape and I had a great time with weber2323 (after a long absence), rudyclub, and casssiusclay (I’m still trying to figure out the 3 ‘s’s in the middle, there!).

Greens were fairly soft and receptive, tending to show cleatmarks as the round continued. But they rolled well at medium-fast speed, especially downhill toward the valley(!). Fairways, rough, and tees were all great. Nice sand in all the traps I was in, and with some of these green contours and slopes (and a few nasty pin placements today!) you don’t want to be playing from those traps!

We played in just under 4 hours so pace was great. Breakfast burrito before and sandwich after were also good. Very nice restaurant/patio facility for relaxing after the round or just in itself. Saw the cart girl several times, and all other staff were great. The course could use additional water stations on the back nine – the last drinking water is on the 9th tee. Highly recommended – we’ll see if I come back next year (LOL).

I was also part of the in the GK plays even held 12/11/16. The whole even was great. Linksoul, Golfmoose and Cleveland Golf all came through with great support and swag. The entire Rams Hill staff was pleasant and helpful. On to the course review.

I had never played this course before and overall I was impressed by the amenities the views and the quality of the course conditions.

The tee boxes have many options to choose from ranging from 7200 to 5000 with a par of 72. I think it is a good sign that someone playing from a forward tee was able to win one of the long drive contests. I played the blues which are around 6300 which included a few long par fours and a few reachable par fives. When standing on the tee boxes you are treated to some nice views of the mountainous and surrounding areas.

The course has a lot of long fairway bunkers with white sand contrasting with the dark green of the rye grass. They let the grass about 2 feet around the bunker go dormant for the winter to further frame the bunkers. I was in a few bunkers the sand was consistent, the rakes were plentiful (the mistakes were my own).

This is a resort course and the fairways were fairly wide. The fairway does have some undulations sometimes presenting you with a fairway lie that is uphill or downhill or on the side of a hill. The rough is present but not extremely penal sometimes the ball would sit down making the shot harder. After the rough there is normally some knee high grass there are also some houses on the course but for the most part they are hidden away.

The greens are skinny and long. There are a few false fronts or sides that will have your ball roll off the green. There are also many greens with tiers. The greens often leave you with one side you really don't want to miss on with either a bunker taller than shaq or a water feature. Even though the some of the greens have a side of a hill that looks like it could roll onto the green the rye grass will grab it and keep the ball on the top leaving you with a very difficult downhill chip.

From tee to green the course is in amazing shape. The faiways and rough have an abundance of green grass. I could not remember a single dead spot in either the fairway or rough. The collection areas are closely mowed and show minimal divot damage. The collars of the greens also did not have a dead spot this area often shows signs of wear and tear but not here. The greens did make small little marks with my plastic cleats and over the course of the day there were some bumps in the greens but nothing to prevent a strait put.

This place also has a golf board and something I have not seen before a golf bicycle that you could bike and golf. They also had a well stocked bar and a lot of food options. I think next time I come here I will try the golf board. I will have to go back soon.

Pretty much ditto what everyone has already mentioned. Last year I gave it a 10/10. This time around is 9/10 which is of course still spectacular! Just some minor things here and there that I noticed yesterday such as the tees being a little long and a good amount of footprints on the greens but as such, these are just minor nitpicks and really nothing that affects play at all. The greens still rolled beautifully. Fairways and bunkers look like something straight out of a magazine! Can't wait to go back and try out the golf bikes.

What an incredible golf course! I had a great time playing and experiencing Rams Hill Golf Club. The greens are smooth and fast, the fairways are perfect! I was in a few sand traps and found them to be a challenge. The sand was good but thy made you pay the price for hitting a bad shot. The staff was excellent from the greeting upon arrival, to the Restaurant staff. I was very impressed when one of the Owners came up to the GK group and thanked us for playing. This is a course I would recommend to any one staying in the Desert area. The drive is a long one from Orange County but one I will make again!
