I was invited out by Lost Canyons to join them for their Re-Grand Opening of the Shadow Course. Just a great day of golf. The course was in 9.0 immaculate condition. YES, 9.0 Conditions. For many of us who have been following the hardships Lost Canyons has experienced over the last two years with the fires and floods, to see the Shadow Course returned to it’s former glorious self is truly amazing. I remember when the course first opened and players were required to take a forecaddie on top of a $150 green fee. By the end of the day you were lucky to come out of there spending less then $200. It was quite a pricey yet enjoyable experience then. Now, the green fees are HALF the price, with no forecaddie required, and the course is even BETTER. One of the complaints about the Shadow Course is its too difficult making for a frustrating round. Well, the course is still a bear, but a softer bear. Thanks to Fred Couples many hellish bunkers have been taken out, fairways a little widened, and some undulation removed on a few greens. Again, this course still has plenty of teeth and if you want to score well, you better hit the ball straight, putt well, and make smart club selections. But, it’s not the monster it used to be in my opinion.
The course alone is more then worth the rates. Now add the best practice facilities you will find anywhere within 100 miles, the A++ Clubhouse, excellent service, whole dramatic ambiance the place has, and you begin to understand the day of golf that lies ahead of you.
Go play the Shadow Course at Lost Canyons, post a review, and have a great time!
