Even from the relatively small amount of rain we got a week ago, Rustic has lost the short fairway on 7 again. #7 is again playing as a 100yd par 3 for the next 6 to 8 weeks at least. RC also has mud in most of the bunkers along the water outflow flats. The #7 fairway is being scraped and reseeded, the mud is quickly being removed. The bunkers on #10 right and #11 left are now in poor condition and will need new sand.

Other than that, the course is actually in much better playing condition than I can remember in quite some time. The greens are being hardened and it seems there is much less watering being done on the green aprons. Now you just can not fly the ball to the middle of the greens and when putting you can really feel the green contours again. That's great! That's how this course is supposed to play.

First time here my first impression was that there is alot of bare and muddy spots but then realized it was due to the heavy rains I like this place but in these conditions it's just OK I'm sure it will get alot better but with more rain comming off the burnt mountians looks like it may get worse before better

Got the front 9 in Monday afternoon. Greens are still soft but improving from aeriation - Roll true but "slow" compared to when they get them right. Will need a few weeks to firm up. They have cross cut the fringes and it appears they are trying to firm them up with wattering changes. Fairways excellent with a few areas beat up from carts.

For truely excellent greens and fringes everyone should fix two ball marks each time your on.

Played 10/10. Course is still recovering from recent green aeration. Fairways and tee boxes aren't quite up to the condition they were a few months ago. That said, this is still a very fun track to play. Pace of play was average for our group that tee'd off at 8:40, finished in about 4 and half hours.

Played Friday afternoon prior to shutdown this week for aeriation - 4 1/2 hrs. Greens and aprons are firming up, should be excellent this fall if trend continues.

When playing take the time to fix a few ball marks on the mowed fringes as some are gettting beat up.

Course should be in excellent condition in a 2-3 weeks after maintenance this week.

Rustic Canyon is a well run course with good staff and good maintenance crew too.

It could be an even better play if it were dried out a bit though.
Harder and faster is better at Rustic Canyon.
