This course is always gorgeous, awesome, and challenging! Arnold Palmer is a fantastic designer. The tee boxes are some of the best in town, but sometimes suffer from the same disease as most courses, for some reason; lack of levelness. I will just never understand why that is so difficult for most courses. However, like I said, this is one of the better courses. The fairways were beautiful, the rush was thick, plush, and beautiful, and the greens, as always, were fast. Even though they had just aerated the greens a week prior, they were healing very well and were in pretty good shape, considering. I have no doubt that they are back to their regular pristine condition by now. The bunkers were decent. The practice area is very good. I would say excellent, except in all my years of coming here, I have never once been able to hit of the driving range grass. Even though there is grass, it is always off the mats.

I highly recommend this course and will definitely be back. The OB Sports Card will definitely pay for itself.

Nasty, tough day in the wind. Lucky my elusive "A" game descended from the heavens after a brutal start and I had a very enjoyable last 16 holes, especially with the windy conditions wreaking havoc by adding/subtracting/pushing 25 yds at times.
This is a great place to play in Vegas! The range is all mats, most with Driver tees supplied in them, a couple of putting greens and a nice chipping area to warm up in. Scenic, beautiful at times with the mountain backdrops and well-designed holes, it's also occasionally intimidating and tough-putting, a short-ish track that rewards accuracy and punishes strays. Some call it "target golf". Canyons and/or desert scruff generally border holes on the right, there is water on a few holes (2, 9 & 18) and a few forced carries. Most notable are the short par-3 11th and the difficult par-5 #17, which requires two precise shots, the second from a slight downhill lie over a canyon to a diagonal fairway area with a treacherous fall-off short and left and desert scrub long and right, and then a well-placed approach needs to be hit onto a green sloping pretty severely left the farther you go in that direction.
The course was in GREAT shape- lush fairways, nice, consistent rough not too punishing, tee boxes were just fine (no comment on the sand as I didn't get into any this day), it's the greens that that put the teeth into the course. Late breakers needing to come in the side, putts you have to start off 90 degrees away from the hole... we all picked up on one hole when everyone's missed putts rolled right back 8-10 feet to make you try again. Um, No. But in general they rolled very well and the local knowledge is to stay below the hole here at the Mountain Course. The slopes made putts seem medium/slow uphill with many "fish-hook" finishes and terrifying downhill, but there are very few bumps. We did have to repair numerous ball marks just like everywhere else, but it was the mixture of slope and wind this day that could be treacherous.
Great course, great conditions, fun for just about everybody with not too many forced carries- and one of the nicer places to play in the Las Vegas area. Very much recommended!

Played 4/7/22 in near perfect conditions (6-12 mph breeze) The somewhat challenging Mountain Course at Angel Park is always in great condition and today was no exception. Both courses are affordable and a small bucket of balls is included free for your warmup on mats at the range, too. Two putting greens and a chipping area are also provided to round out your pre-game activities- nice! You can always count on Angel Park to keep their two courses in top shape in all ways, with the possible exception of the sand, which can be thin and crusty- a common condition in Las Vegas as many courses don't drag their bunkers often (if they do, the Spring/Fall winds will scour them out- it's a no win situation) which can have them get hard and thin. The Mountain Course is delightfully scenic, with average to wide, mostly level fairways and a wonderful mix of holes. There is water on a handful and rugged desert and canyons on the sides of others to gobble up wayward shots. I've always thought that the course handicap is too low here (115 slope from the whites) as nearly every wide shot will cost you a stroke and putting is always extremely challenging. Just my opinion, but over 20 years of playing here and scoring on average 3 shots higher here than on other similarly rated courses support that opinion. Whatever... back to the review! Tee boxes were lush, fairways beautiful, rough playable, but contoured to where most shots from it are not going to be from a flat lie, and many can be severe. But it's fair. Hit driver on some shorter par-4s looking for a wedge approach and you bring more trouble into play. Longer par-4s have more fairway space- that's well designed! The par-5 17th is very challenging as the first fairway is well protected on both sides and long, then your second shot is over a canyon that borders the right side of the first fairway and then crosses the hole stretching diagonally left requiring a well-struck fairly long shot with solid distance control from a slight downslope to avoid going into trouble. If you negotiate those tasks, then you pitch onto a green that slopes severely from right to left and a miss left is lost ball territory. I hit two great 3-woods today, pitched on... *sigh* and then 3-putted for the umpteenth time there. I'll never learn to baby that downhill putt like I know I should. And that is the Angel Park Mountain course's biggest challenge- the greens. They're not too firm, in fact just right, and not cratered full of ball marks, either, but... mounded greens, greens that slope into hazards, slopes that can see your ball "horseshoe" back towards you, straight ones a rarity, even short ones... better have your "A game" with the flat stick! Note: try always to be below the hole. A few greens also have fairly strong slopes in the back going away that will funnel your ball off the putting surface and others have front parts that are sloped severely enough to make downhillers go off the green. It's not "unfair", but it's definitely challenging. I'll have one three putt in almost every round elsewhere, occasionally two. At AP Mountain I always have 2 or more and even a hair-pulling 4-putt sometimes (yech!). So, maybe take this with a grain of salt- obviously, I'm not a great putter. In summary, it's truly beautiful, interesting, challenging, with great conditions and affordable... very much recommended.

Played on Friday 3/11, with John_T and his dad with a 6:30 tee time. With the week of cold and windy weather in Vegas this week, I was expecting both some cancellations and a frost delay. After checking in, found there was a few cancellations but no frost delay, so sent out about 15 minutes early, and finished in just a shade over 3 hours.

Conditions are fantastic right now. Fairways were running firm and fast, but plenty of grass. Bunkers still holding the new sand from recent replacement. Greens were super firm (so huge bounces on shots) and as fast as I ever saw them. On the 3rd hole, I putted from below the hole, missed the cup, and rolled about 2 feet past, then the ball rolled back about 6 feet below the hole and back to me. If there were ball marks, they were from days before, because trying to fix them it sounded like breaking ice, just frozen. The rough has been cut down to barely over fairway for the last month or so, which causes issues. If you have a desert course, playing firm and fast and no rough, lots of balls will run into the desert areas. I am not a fan of this idea.

With the ultra friendly staff, this feels more like a muni than the resort course it is. Not a bad choice if in Vegas. Mountain is more a test than Palm, but both are fun courses.

Played my home course on 12/17 and 12/23. 12/17 was a 11:10 tee time pushed to 11:40 due to an early frost delay, still finished in about 4:20, 12/23 was at 8am, and finished leisurely in just under 4 hours.

Conditions were pretty much the same both days. The course has hosted a handful of tournaments in the last month and the course was prime shape. Fairways were pretty lush, with more run in the afternoon. Rough was about 2-3 inches and caused a bit of issues hitting out. Bunkers depended on the day: 12/17 they were heavy but a nice thump to hit from, not thin; 12/23 were still wet from rain, so a bit muddy to hit from. Greens on both days were outstanding. They are running almost as fast as they can get them, a bit firm, but some unfixed ballparks.

Great way to end the year and hoping the course holds up as the temperature drops over the next month.

Needed a fill in course when things didn’t work out for Reflection Bay. Chose Angel Park – Mountain course for no particular reason other than it had good reviews and was a mid level course (price wise). WOW, was I pleasantly surprised. Conditions were excellent all around. Fairways were just short of a perfect 10 and the rest were all easily rated at 8-9. Greens are the perfect definition of “average”. Average size, average undulations and rolled at a medium-fast pace.

Layout is ho hum. Almost all holes are dead straight. A couple of water hazards and the natural desert terrain on the edges of the fairway keep it from being a complete bore. That aside this is a great course (conditions wise) that fits the price tag which accompanies it. Range is on mats and they have a large putting area, plus a mini 9 hole putting course.

This is a hidden gem in Vegas given the current conditions.

Freshly out of re-seeding and they took off the cart path rule and are now at 90 degree rule.

The tee boxes were perfect. The fairways were thin, but nice and full. Our cart was very low on seed to fill chunks, which is pretty surprising.

Some of the sand traps were compact and wet, but I assume it's because of the over watering.

Finally the greens were in super shape. Nice and grassy, but filled with divots. CAN PEOPLE FIX THEIR DIVOTS PLEASE?

I had the flat bread meat lover's pizza in the club house and it was yummy. Definitely recommend.

Played on Friday, 8/27 for the first time in forever on the home course with John_T and his dad. Paid $49 with the OB card. Easy check in. John grabbed a wrap and some drinks in the grill then headed to the starter, who got us off about 20 minutes early. Felt like we were alone until we hit the groups on 9, finishing our front in about 1.5 hours. The back was a bit slower, taking just over 2 hours, but still a sub 4 round on a very hot day. Drink cart was around twice on both nines, and the snack shack was open on 6/15 even late in the afternoon.

Course is prepping for reseed, closing on in 10 days (9/7). Tee boxes a bit on the shaggy side and I wished they would level them out one day. While the course is starting to dry out and get down, the fairway conditions were really good. Dry and fast, but definitely not thin or bare. Plenty of run making me love some afternoon golf. Rough has been cut has they reseed the rough along with the fairway, so it's just long enough to give definition but not stopping anything hot from rolling into the desert areas. Greens were a bit soft, saw lots of unfixed marks, and a bit bumpy in the afternoon. They were running a bit slower, but normal summer speed.

Mountain should be good for another week then I would wait a few weeks after the reseed. Still decent bargain since the courses are usually in above average conditions.

Played on 6/18 with a 6ish tee time. Wow, its been some time since I've been on my home course and I've missed it. While they push themselves as a resort course, AP has a very locals feel to it. Pro shop and F&B staff are super friendly and on point.

Course is in better shape than some other in the same price range. Tee boxes need some work but are in good shape. Fairways are lush, but the early morning time meant some wet/soaked areas. Bunkers are typical for Vegas, a bit crusty, some pebbles, and thin. Greens were the slowest I've seen in some time here. They looked a bit fuzzy, maybe just need a cut to get them in shape.

Overall, I'm never disappointed at AP. Mountain is the more challenging of the 2 courses, but the par 3s are not memorable. The finishing 2 holes on both 9s are challenging. Worth a look.
