Ventured out to Angle Park- Palm Course for Rob1563's retirement extravaganza last Friday. We had a tee times starting at 12:30 and went out right on time. Course has recently reopened from Overseed and was 90° rule for the first time Friday therefore the course looked spectacular. Staff was super friendly all around starting with the lady's in the bar to the pro shop and starter. Just friendly people overall. Practice area is decent with a large putting green, putting course, and range. Carts are nice with GPS, Bluetooth music, and usb charging.

Course conditions were very nice as expected after overseeding. Fairways lush and cut to the perfect length, rough was 2-3 inches and generally easy to hit from. Sand traps had nice light brown sand as was easy to get out of. Greens were very nice to putt on, medium speed and receptive there were a few ball marks as we did play later in the day but nothing major. A few tee boxes need to be leveled and after talking to Marketing and Social Media Manager Jed they are going to work on those few boxes soon.

Palm in my opinion is much easier than mountain but still has a lot of teeth to it. A few well placed bunkers and par 3's over water make it a very fun layout. I would put this course in any rotation for must play Vegas golf when visiting.

It was a nice day that never passed the 80s in temps.
The course was in tiptop shape from tee to greens with the greens rolling quite nicely and true. The sand bunkers were very easy to get out of and well prepped. The fairways were nice and tightly mowed with some roll. The teeing grounds were also great having some very nice grass covering all around.
Definitely worth a visit here!

Played on Friday, 10/28, with the crew from Cocky & Lucky Golf and Social Club. 7:55a tee time on a busy Nevada Day for $67 with the OB Card. Tee times are absolutely scarce in the Vegas Valley right now. If you're not booking 2 weeks out you're out of luck.

Conditions were absolutely spectacular. Tee boxes still need to be leveled but plenty of area to find a flat area. Fairways are lush and carpet like, the reseed has taken nicely. The rough is where I like it, 1-2 inches, enough to stop a ball from rolling into the desert and just enough to penalize you for being off the fairway. Bunkers were a mixed bag, some fluffy, some tight, and plenty of pebbles. Greens were incredible. Soft and receptive but really fast for the amount of undulation.

Customer service was great. Bags were picked up in the parking lot. Easy and fast check in. The morning bartender knows my order when I walk in. Drink cart was around twice per 9 and the snack shack was open early at the triangle where 7 green, 8 tee, and 10 tee all meet. Even being super busy, we finished in a few shaded under 4 hours, only waiting on the usual backup on the 1st 3 holes.

Palm is a fun course. While it is short, it does play to a par 70, with 5 par 3s, and 3 par 5s. There's plenty of chances to score low, but if you're off in any part of the game, it's going to beat you up.

Angel Park Palm course is an easy, enjoyable round on a fun, interesting track. We play from the white tees that's only about 5400 yards on a par-70 layout. There is water to carry on a couple of short par-3s, a dogleg par-4 9th and desert scruff and canyons to carry on some others. The split fairway par-5 6th is the most unique hole, with a tee shot decision to play safe to the close fairway on the left and take a longer shot over a canyon towards the green (aim to the left of the tree on the hill, but don't hit it more than 190 yds fom the white tees or you'll run out of room!) or carry the canyon on the right to cut down the 2nd shot length, but if you DO pull it off, unless you squeeze your drive between the 150 pole and the right rough, you'll be left with either the ball on a severe upslope, way above your feet, or both. I went the safe left side route today and two well struck 3-hybrids got me onto the green with an eagle putt- a rarity for me.
Angel Park Palm is consistently in good/great condition, the fairways are a good width and lush, the rough not overly long or punishing, but wayward shots may up in rocky desert scrub. The greens are solid, with the occasional overslope (balls horseshoeing back towards you) and a few two-tiered offerings to mix it up. Fixing ball marks is a never-ending chore, though. NOTES: Putts generally are quicker going towards "the Strat"/downtown, and the 16th green slopes so much from right to left that balls hit anywhere on the left half will roll off, and if the rough is cut close I've had shots land on the green, roll off and then down the ever-steepening slope until it left the property through the chain-link fence, so stay to the right side!
Tee boxes are fine, with the exception of the bad #8, which is a mound and so a mostly dirt, crater-pocked mess on its only level spot, and a rather severely sloped sidehill #12, depending on where they set the teeing area.
Bunkers are decent to good, many have packed, hard bottoms requiring a steeper swing to get good results. Today I got "sandies" on the both the 17th & 18th, so I left with a smile!
Good conditions, a nice mix of holes, it's a short, fairly easy, fun course good for everyone- and you can wear "tastefully casual" (nice denim) attire, too!
Recommended.

Played on Friday, 2/18, 8:25a tee time, $59 with the OB card. A nice warm up to the GK Bullhead Blowout and an awesome time with GK/Cocky&Lucky Golf and Social Club with MPisarski, Joe, and Yohanne. We were followed for some holes by Jed, the AP Social Media guy who put together an awesome reel on the angelparkgolf IG page.

Now onto the course: I would love to see them redo the tee boxes during a reseed but they are decent, some need some leveling. Fairways are lush, complete coverage, and plenty of cushion. Rough was minimum, just enough to give fairway definition, but not long enough to stop some balls from running into the desert surroundings. Bunkers were a Vegas mix: some nice decent sand and some pebbly, rocky sand. Greens were fantastic, as fast as I've ever seen, causing some super breaks, and mix with some tricky pins made for an interesting putting day.

Funny story: I picked AP Palm as an "easy" warm up into the weekend, plenty of birdie chances, a fun course to take some chances and a few "go-for-it" holes, but if you are off with the swing, this course makes you pay. My choice as a fun, chase the ball course, always good service, incredible Friday prices, and great food.

Played here this morning with a 6:35 time from the "Deals" tab on their website homepage. Amazing rate of like $39 or so. Check in went smooth, starter was rearranging players a bit but set me up with a twosome and we were off the first tee about 5 minutes early. After the first few holes, the group in front created a good buffer and we rarely had to wait until we caught them again at 17. Total POP wonderful at 3:30. Conditions-wise, there's not much to say except everything is near immaculate. I'd say 9s across the board. Greens are smooth, medium-fast to fast, medium firmness and accepting of full shots. Fairways are great, just a notch below immaculate. Rough is lush rye about 2-3 inches deep; can cause some difficulty in hitting shots cleanly. The two bunkers I was in were good. Black tee boxes were nearly perfect, no complaints. Second time playing this course. I really enjoy it when playing from the Black tees. Good mix of score-able holes and demanding holes. Almost made eagle on the par-5 6th. Hit a good drive and an excellent 3-wood from about 225 to about 8 feet, and just missed the putt. Fun times! Highly, highly recommended at those "Deal" prices.

Overseeding is completed and it's "cart path only" for right now while it all fills in for the Winter season. The fairways will leave mud on your ball most of the time (we played lift, clean & place) but the grass is coming along great and the greens are in fantastic shape- maybe the best I've ever seen them. Didn't take long for people to start skipping out on fixing their ball marks and strew their sunflower seed husks on them. Sick- nobody wants to pick up your spat out food droppings...c'mon people- show some consideration for everyone else. Kudos to the maintenance crew & staff- well done!
Details about the course can be found on previous reviews, in a nutshell: fun, interesting, fairly easy (wide fairways, rough only penal sometimes, a few forced carries over water or ravines, mostly on par-3s, and usually very good conditions.
Highly recommended for recreational golfers and they allow jeans and casual attire to be worn (good in Winter!)

Played on Sunday, 8/15. Feels like its been some time since i've been out at AP and was really feeling a need to play Palm, a fun, shortish, par 70 course with 5 par 3s (4 over trouble) and 3 par 5s (2 absolutely go for it in 2 with a good drive). Paid $52 with the OB card and fairly warned of reseed prep work as the course will be closing in a week or so.

Despite the prep, the course was really playable with dry but lush fairways with a fair amount of run but thick conditions underneath. Rough has been cut down to basically fairway height so anything on the sides have the chance of running into the desert. Bunkers were OK, I did just chip from 2 green side, long shots I did not want to mess with a traditional sand shot. I do wish they level off the tee boxes, probably the biggest complaint. Greens ran smooth but a bit slow, so firm shots were nicely rewarded.

I love Palm as it's my go to when I've posted a few high scores and need an ego boost. If the game is "almost there" or absolutely on you will score well, but a bit off and you'll pay. Love it in my normal rotation and one of those courses you just go for it on every shot.

Played 7/20/21. Being almost 70 and only hitting my drives about 220 these days, I play from the white tees to an 9 hdcp. Angel Park seems to be always in great shape (both courses). Today was no exception. It seems like the sand is fine now that the traps have been dragged (in the past we've had fits with thin sand over a concrete-like base leading to "drop-kicked" bunker shots flying over the green). Very nice! Fairways were sweet and I seldom hit into the the rough this time, but when I did it was very playable, even with my "old guy" diminished swing speed. Pace of play was excellent- 4 of us in just less than 4 hours. I only have 2 relatively small red flags for this course: the tee box on the par-3 #8 is horrendous. it's just a small mound, so of course everyone tees up at the crest to get the only level lie and as a result that small level teeing area is bare and gouged full of deep divots with no grass to play from. In my 20 years of playing and pointing it out on surveys for them they've still never leveled it out. Another sort of sketchy tee box is the short par-3 #12, which is built into a hillside and pretty severely sloped from right to left, so right-handers will tee off with the ball above their feet with a wedge- again, these are the white tee boxes and all the others are fine. Playing from the other tees you may find them all good!? The only other shake of the head is that Angel Park is known for people not fixing their ball marks on the greens, but unfortunately that's practically the norm here on West side courses... All in all, it's an easy and fun course, with few really challenging holes. There are a few short ones over water and a risk/reward split-fairway par-5 to make you think a bit and the course is almost always in great shape. Very much recommended for us recreational golfers!
