We come to Vegas once a year and this is one of the few that is affordable. Desert Rose is greatly improved over last year. The staff is polite and helpful. Kudos, you guys are doing a great job!

For average the hacker the price is right. Sometimes the course is in fine shape, sometimes not. Tight fairways with housing on one side on most holes and a wash on the other side which is usually dry but sometimes can be a river.

This course was an absolutely terrible experience. It will cost an out-of-towner $150 to play a round there with club rental. The course is in very bad shape. The fairways are burned up and the greens are in just fair condition. The course winds its way through a low income neighborhood where we encountered a retarded man running around one hole and a homeless guy crossing another. There were kids yelling, dogs barking, and lots of other distractions. The pace of play was horribly slow and when I said something to the marshall (Doc) he asked me what I expected him to do about it. On top of it all we got to the clubhouse at 1 PM and was told the cook was already gone for the day so were could only order a club sandwich. We both ordered one and by that evening neither of us felt well. Go somewhere else and play, this place isn't worth the trouble.

This track is one of the worst I’ve ever played. Fairways and greens were lightning fast because the grass is yellow and dead. Taking a divot on approach meant a face full of dust, sand and straw. I truly don’t know how they’ll revive the vegetation. Images, scorecard, and course layout (available on-line) are misleading. They indicate a lush and green course with water running the length of every hole. What isn’t mentioned is the “water” is actually a dried-up flashflood ditch which is littered from tee to green, 1-18, with every piece of human refuse imaginable. Bottles, diapers, clothing, shopping carts, toys, etc. Balls finding their way into this wasteland could have been recovered, but were abandoned for fear of injury and infection. And the smell. From the moment my partners and I entered the driveway it was apparent there were sewage problems, punctuated by an enormous pump located on one of the holes next to the highway. The back 9 offers a striking view of the local real-estate. Some homes were abandoned. Others just looked abandoned. Half filled swimming pools of trash and algae, broken windows, malnourished dogs, rusted fences, open refrigerators. Unattended babies sat on walls watching players.

This course’s only saving grace is the personnel. Over the phone and in person the employees were polite, gracious, patient, and friendly. Their talents are being wasted and should all be given raises for enduring the embarrassment of charging $60/round with a smile.
