My Palm Valley round went quickly, so I had a lot of time to kill before my afternoon time at Rhodes Ranch. I figured an executive course was the perfect tweener round, so I headed across the Sun City community to Eagle Crest. There were a few morning women's groups finishing up when I arrived, but otherwise the course looked completely empty. I was checking in around 9:30 and the guy was nice enough to give me the after-10:00 rate of $15 with a cart, so I appreciated that. I played through one single who was practicing on the front nine and then didn't catch anyone until hole #15. Those last few holes probably took as long as the rest of my round, but I was still finished in under 2 hours total. The course was in late summer shape. Some parts were decent and others were not very good. The tee boxes were a little chewed up, but I never had a problem finding a good spot to tee it up. The fairways on the six par-4s were actually pretty decent, with some scattered thin spots throughout. The rough was somewhat inconsistent with some good areas and some bad. The bunkers were fine for a course of this caliber. The greens were the lowlight. They were a mess. Local GK'er Rob1563 told me they almost lost the greens completely this summer, so it seems like they are trying to bring them back for fall. Most greens had big dead/sandy patches, and the back nine greens were especially rough. They also aerated not too long ago, so the putting surfaces are very slow and bumpy. The 17th hole was playing to a temporary green. They will need a lot of work to get these greens back to decent. For $15 and a quick pace, I can't complain much beyond the terrible greens. It's actually a pretty decent little senior-friendly executive that offers a fair challenge for everyone because it has a good mix of hole lengths and designs. Kind of a mini version of Palm Valley with a few more hills. Hopefully they can recover their greens!

Played on Monday, 5/26. John_T and I made a late night decision to play a quick round, and with no early times available online, decided to try to walk on. Arrived at 6am and checked with the pro shop, who asked if we were ready now. (Apparently some ask if there's an opening, then have to change shoes and grab the clubs). We teed off around 6:10, with another walk up single. We paid the $35 NV resident rate, which is fine for an executive course. They have a great $20 midday rate that I love. Drink cart was around by the time we hit the back 9 and overall the staff was great and friendly. It took us a shade over 3 hours, which is a bit slow for here. I think we could of finished earlier, but we were behind a foursome enjoying a holiday round. They weren't slow, just not fast, which was fine for me.

Course was in great condition. This is an par 60 executive course with 12 par 3s and 6 par 4s. Very little divot damage on the tee boxes. Sand was fluffy and easy to hit out. The rough was around the greens was about 2 inches and thick. Greens were fantastic. Smooth and held tee shots, but only a few unrepaired ball marks.

Well worth the price for a quick round. It is an executive course, but you need to bring a good putting game. These greens are tricky and make up for the lack of distance. I saw 5 or 6 putts break opposite of what I thought and uphill. Speeds were a bit slower due to the early morning watering.

Played on Sunday, 1/26, with a 9:14 tee time. Customer service is minimum, 1 guy in the pro shop, a starter, and bar staff. No drink cart on the course. However, the 2 people I spoke with were very friendly and great. The tee sheet was full, but we went off as a 2some behind another 2some, and finished in under 3 hours.

Eagle Crest is a Par 60 executive course in the Sun City Summerlin neighborhood, with 12 Par 3s and 6 Par 4s. Driving range is mats-only right now. Large putting green and nice chipping area that were in great shape. Tee boxes were mostly flat and are large enough that they can move around the teeing area. The 6 fairways were nice and lush, with no brown or dead areas. The rough was dormant bermuda. I wasn't in the sand, but John_T said the 1 he was in was fine and easy to hit out. Greens were spectacular. Fast and firm, with minimum amount of ball marks.

It's a fun course and great for practice. I used 7 different clubs off the tee. Don't think it's an easy pitch and putt, the greens are very undulated and very tricky. The course is set in the highest part of the valley, with great views of the valley and mountains. We played with a free 2some I had won. I think the $45 residential rate is a bit high right now, but I understand supply/demand. If they fill up the times, why lower the rate. Overall, a fun course and a quick round. I'll play again when the summer rates kick in.

Played Friday, 9/2. Made a 12:52 tee time, but we were able to get out about 30 minutes early. We were met in the parking lot, and drove to the pro shop to check in. Starter told us we could go as soon as all 4 of us were there. Eagle Crest is a Par 60 executive course, with 12 Par 3s and 6 Par 4s. Par 3s range from about 100 to 205 from the whites, and the Par 4s are about 300 to 380. Everything was good, but not great. Tee boxes were mostly flat, but some were domed or had a sidehill lie to them. Fairways were great, lush and very little damage. Bunkers were hard packed and thin, and #16 had some decent sized rocks. Greens were firm and looked great (with some brown areas), but ran at a slow/medium pace. Some of the greens had GUR where they were replacing grass. Overall, Eagle Crest is great for short game/Par 3 practice. Greens are tricky to read, and have lots of undulation. I had a great time with a group from work, very fun and laid back. We got around in 3 hours, with no one around. We paid $15, which is a special they're running after 11 right now.

Part 2 of the Father's Day weekend. Played on Sunday morning. This is an executive course (par 60), with 12 Par 3s and 6 Par 4s. Lots of variety, I think I played 7 different clubs off the tee on the 3s. The 4s go from 327 to 401. Lots of positives, but a few negatives here.

Fairways and greens were in great condition, all playing fast and firm, with no thin areas or brown spots. The greens truly confused me, breaking where I never saw a break and in ways I could not believe.

Tee boxes were a mixed bag. Many were not level, with an almost sidehill feel to them. Pace of play was SLOW. I understand it was Father's Day, but 4 hours to play a course paced at 3 hours is not good. There was a marshall, but I did not see him push anyone along.

Very fun course, with lots of options, and great views of the Vegas Valley. Definitely bring your own water, few opportunities on the course. Played with a Groupon deal, and will play again.

This course is great for getting your short game up to par. I wouldn't recommend playing this every week because it plays pretty easy. I mix this up with Durango Hills every other week and I've seen very good results. Went from shooting in the 100s to shooting low 90s. Greens are pretty easy to read and very flat.

I played the course last Sunday, August 10. 8:30 AM tee time. The course was not crowded and we got picked up by the cart guys right at our car. The starter was cordial and informative abiut the conditions fo the course. They had just reopened a week prior as they were refinishing the cart paths. The course looked great. Clean and ell kept. No real issues even though we had a slow gorup in front of us. The course is located in the the middle of a very nice senior living neighborhood and they attract the locals in the area. That said, we had no issues on the course and didn't get backed up until the 17th hole. Course ambassadors were evident throughout the course and water and restrooms were available on several holes. The course palyed at a relaxed pace and I didn't find myself "stretching" to imagine a shot to be made. The course plays wide open but the greens have a few challanges to them. I'd play this course again in a heartbeat and can't wait to get back to Vegas to play it again! I highly recommend it to anyone not lookng for a long, grueling, 5 hour day in the heat!!

Played Nov. 27, at 9am. Pace of play was good, 4 1/2 hrs. Greens are in nice shape, best I have seen them in a long time. The fire came right down to the fairways on a number of holes, but overall the course is in very nice shape and it's always fun to play. We will be back.
