Never disappointed. 3 outstanding Pete Dye courses. One of my favorite facilities in Vegas.

All course are challenging but not unplayable. Plenty of scoring opportunities from somewhat generous landing areas. Plenty of risk reward opportunities for those that like to "gamble" a bit in vegas. Wolf is a little more difficult and can stretch to 7500 for those that dare.

Always in good shape from tee to green. Wind is most always a factor on the open desert layout. If you are fortunate to catch one of these courses on a calm day or with just a slight breeze then lady luck is on your side.

A lot of secluded holes only surrounded by the majestic scenery of the desert landscape.

Excellent practice facility for all parts of your game.

Can be a little pricey during peak season and it is about 30 miles from downtown.

A must play in Vegas. One of the best facilities in Vegas and will always be one of my favorites.

Played Snow Mountain first and was highly impressed. Very nice layout with very scenic views of the mountains and desert. No homes because you are literally in the middle of nowhere, which is very nice. Course in good to great shape. Teeboxes were very nice and level, sand traps were just fine, greens were about a 7.5 on a scale of 10, in a couple weeks they should be perfect. I will just review all three courses now, because all were in about the exact same shape. The Sun Mountain might be a little better on the greens, but tough to differentiate between all three which was nice because we played two different courses each day and it was nice to have consistency between all three. The Sun might actually get my vote for the best of the three, really nice layout and very tough with harsher winds. Each course has it's own challenges, with desert riparian areas just off the fairways and all have tough doglegs and excellent water features. Have to shape just about every shot to be in the ideal positions. POP was great all around and we played all three in about 4.5 hours each and it was very busy out there with tournaments and all, but the Marshals were all over it and keeping everyone playing fast. Great service all around, hats off to the staff and grounds crew.

Part 1 of a 2 part weekend some other GK'ers enjoying some free golf thanks to GK outing raffles. Visually the conditions were a little bit rough with signs of repairs from recent damage but the course played well. Greens were fast and true and putted well. Understandable that fairways and tees were a little bit spotty with new sod and were fine to play from. The layout is great with everything right in front of you but still presented some challenge. Visually this course makes you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere with no houses or roads around just expansive views of the desert landscape. Loved that aspect of the course and really enjoyed the playability of the layout.

I came back on Saturday afternoon to round out my Paiute experience with a round on Snow Mountain. Played by myself teeing off around 3pm. Played through one fivesome on the back and otherwise had the place to myself on a hot and windy afternoon. Definitely the most wind I encountered in the three rounds here and though it probably wasn't as bad as it can get here, it definitely had a major impact. Snow ended up being my favorite of the three Paiute courses (by far). I found it to be the most aesthetically pleasing with a lot of water in play and more mature desert brush, joshua trees, yucca, etc. around the outer edges for better visual contrast. I also found it to be the most challenging with some tighter fairway cuts and more intimidating angles from tees and on approach shots. Like on Wolf, I played the golds here and from my experience, I'd say it's tougher than Wolf from the golds. That's just my opinion, though.

Like Sun and Wolf, Snow is in excellent condition right now. They are all equally great on that front. Nothing to complain about there, especially considering it's late in what's been a very hot summer in Vegas. Everything is pretty green, lush and excellent playability. Rough not deep and ball will sit up, but super thick rye grass that really grabs your club and will make you work. As one of the handful of facilities in the area that doesn't overseed, Paiute is a great option this time of year. Love the secluded feel of the property with no homes around and only rugged desert wilderness. Highly recommended.

As part of the Palooza deal (two courses for $149, weekend) an awesome deal! The Snow course is awesome. Enough elevation changes for it to be scenic, but not so much you're trying to figure out if it's two or three club hills. Had a lot of water on the course which also added to scenery and made it refreshing feeling. Enjoyed this course much more than the Wolf course.

All aspects of the course was excellent other than the lightly sanded greens (but was fine to putt on).

I want to go back as soon as possible!

Played the golf course on 3/5/2012. We had the first tee time on the Snow course (7:30 am). The customer service was excellent right from the time we stepped on the property. We dropped our bags and proceeded to check-in and once we were done, our carts with our bags were ready to go. The driving range is grass and complimentary.

The course is a classic Pete Dye. The tee boxes are very good, the fairways were okay for this time of the year and the greens were recovering. But for $88 well worth it. The layout is very enjoyable and had a great front 9. The back 9 the wind kick in and every hole is difficult. Shot 6 over on the front 9 and 12 over on the back 9 (Hcp 17.1). But had an oppty on every hole; it was just that my putting was not on.

Overall liked the course and will try the sun and wolf sometime soon.

My recommendation is stay away from the expensive resort courses on the strip and take the 30 min drive to Paiute. It is worth it.

Tee it up with GK’ers xazntigerx, jerry64 and jeroethel on Thursday. Tee it up around 12:00noon and zipped around the course. Great fun on an awesome track. It was my first time playing the Snow Mountain course having only played the Wolf course prior. I was expecting the Snow Mountain to be a small let down compared to the Wolf but I ended up liking the Snow Mountain layout better. It is a visually stunning course with vast desert back drops, huge water features, strategic dog legs, risk-reward opportunities…honestly about everything I enjoy most about desert golf. Its easily one of my very favorite courses played. As for conditioning, besides the greens being more bumpy and slow than I expected since Snow Mountain is the only Paiute course that has predominately poa greens in comparison to the Sun Mountain and Wolf that have predominately bent greens. What happens is the poa grows faster than the bent this time of year so it's hard to keep a smooth surface in the winter. However the greens were not too bad, just not pool table smooth greens I’ve come to expect from Pauite. As for the rest of the course, I felt the fairways were excellent. Firm and lush. Lots a roll and the ball sits up well. No bad lies to be found anywhere. The rough, likewise to the fairways and cut only about an inch higher so no issue at all hitting from it. I was in many sand traps and found them to contain high quality sand, soft and a little compacted, very easy to play from. Tee boxes where in great shape, cut tight, well groomed and only moderate divot damage. Something worth mentioning is Snow Mountain is the first of the 3 courses constructed so the layout essentially surrounds the dramatic clubhouse. I’ve had lunch and dinner there many times so finally playing the 18th hole, which is completely on display from the bar and dining area was real treat for me. The 18th hole is nothing short of spectacular…if only I drained that 12 footer for par! – next time. Well, now I’ve played Wolf and Snow, so Sun Mountain is next. From talking to the Staff over the years, most like the Sun Mountain the best…can’t wait.

I played here 2/13 around noon with 3 great GKers Jerry, John, and Johnny. Even though the course isn't near the Strip, its really not very far if you have a rental car. After a mostly traffic free 30 minute drive, you get treated to Oasis in the middle of no where with 3 Great golf courses on Paiute Indian Reservation ground. Do take into consideration that the elevation here is higher than Vegas so about 5 to 7 degree cooler temperature and at least 10 mph wind. Also your golf ball will travel about half a club more when not hitting against the wind.

Drive your car up to the Mandatory bag drop where attendant will load it up to the cart and take it down to the back side of the club house while you check in with the proshop (even if you walk it up, you will still have to hand over the club to the attendant behind the gates since its employee only area). Club house feels gigantic due to open plan hallway that connects the restaurant with proshop with no walls in the way. Proshop is amply stocked with just about anything you would want. Didn't utilize the restaurant so not sure about that one but quick hot dog from outside halfway house served its purpose.

Snow Mt is the only course here that had Poa Annua green. Not sure if it was due to it being afternoon, the greens were slow and bumpy compared to other times I've played here in the past (compared to the other courses on this property). Tee boxes were in great shape and there were no aesthetic faults I could find. Fairways were firm and all drives in the fairway got the extra 20 to 30 yd roll. Rough was short and not very penal. We played 6600 yds and honestly it felt similar to playing a 6000 yd course near the strip. Unfortunately, with the wind drying out the green, it was hard to keep your ball on the green as most shots just bounced off the green including wedges. I think next time, I will play it like links style and roll everything up to the hole instead of carrying my iron shots to the hole.

I was in 1 bunker and the sand felt heavy so I could not get my wedge under it. Low bounce wedge would work better in this kind of sand IMO.

Layout of Snow Mt is very distinctive. Holes do not cross each other and each hole feels as its own. It has lots of water and most don't come into play except for few of the par 3's (definitely in play) and #9 hole. Stay the heck away from the right side on #9. If your ball cross the mini mound on right edge of the fairway, your ball WILL go into water as everything is shaved and sloped to the LIQUID GRAVE.
Each hole winds through without interfering other holes and never once do you feel like you'll get bombarded by errant tee shot from another hole like some other golf courses. I can't promise you'll score well but at least you won't have to worry about getting beaned. When temperatures get little too warm, I end up here often while when its border line cold day then I tend to opt for the courses near the valley. Hope you get to try all 3 and let us know which you like the best.

What can be said for a course that is top notch, lets start with the views, you just need to see them, mountains, dessert it is simply awe inspiring to view. The club house is huge with everything you might need.
The course it self is visually intimidating and plays the same way although it does provide some relief with its mounded sides however, if your not straight off the tee bring plenty of balls for the Dessert Golf God. I found the greens here to be large and quick with only a few exceptions so I would put them somewhere near 9-9.5 or possibly a 10. They were receptive to shots but it was not easy to hold them, with no spin you could forget it and would find yourself in any on the several bunkers or grassy mounds that are prevalent around each green.
The rough is dormant and provides a fair chance to recover from, although it is slightly more penalizing than most at this dormant stage. The fairways are lush with only a sparse thin lie here or there. Snow Mountain provides rich soft white sand from its bunkers that seemed to be at least 3-4 inches deep so for a spoiled CA golfer it was a pleasure to hit out from.

Now the bad, this course as mentioned above sits in the middle of nowhere and because of this it is in a constant battle with the elements, on this day it was the wind, probably blowing 15-20 with a gust to 25 on several holes. I played at least a club more on many holes and even two on a few of the longer par 4 or 5s. The temp on this day had to be in the lower to 60s so warmth was not a problem just the cold north wind.
Again this course is out of the way North of Vegas so its about a 45 minute drive depending on where you are staying in Vegas, but it is well worth the time and money. Do not let the distance stop you from playing a superior track that has it all, I would recommend this course to anyone and will be back to play it or one of two other Championship courses on the property.
