mikelgabe - Tucson
Played this course with my wife on 8/24. I get to LV about 3-4 times a year, and this course will be on my "must play" list for the next visit. I had heard, and read about how difficult this course is, and with the wind blowing it probably is extremely tough, but it is very fair. Good shots are rewarded, poor ones are penalized. Pay attention to the on-cart GPS because there are several blind shots with trouble ahead if you're not paying attention. There were 5 sets of teeboxes, so it was very fair for my wife who's not the longest hitter. She didn't have to battle long carries over crap to reach the green grass. The course is spectacular in appearance. Sort of an oasis in the middle of nowhere, yet it's only 30 minutes from the Strip. The customer service, from the bag guys, to the starter, to the cart ladies was fantastic. It does get hot in the summertime, so the "snack shacks" located midway through the round were very nice. I played on an "all you can play" special, so followed up Wolf with Sun Mountain (see review). Be prepared for uneven lies. Not sure there's a flat spot in any of the fairways, but that made the challenge even more interesting. This is a fantastic course, and as I stated earlier . . is definately on my must play list for the next time I'm in LV.

Was expecting alot more for the price and reputation. The greens were sanded to the point of being like ice--not holding shots or even chips.

Well 2nd course of the all day play for $79.. Rating and slope are higher than the Snow course. It is also the signature course of the Resort. I expected more because everyone there was talking it up so much.. It was dried out and they were overseeding the fairways. The greens were quick, but dried out.. As with the Snow course you have to be able to put spin on the ball on approach shots. It was challenging because the wind started howling even more in the afternoon.. Got stuck behind some slow groups. Nice course but I'm sure it will be in better shape during the spring..

We played as twosome on July 10, never seeing another golfer. Course is in great shape, GPS helps navigation for first time visitors. Summer rates are good value. I liked variety of holes that allowed me to hit every club in the bag. Bring your "A" game.

Played 10/28/2006 on a perfect day for golf - warm and only light breeze. The three courses here always seem to be in great condition, and this was no exception. Fairways great, greens very smooth, traps actually had been raked, although most were wet from watering. Stay on the fairway, as rough is not long but is wiry and can be difficult to hit from. Plenty of room to hit from the tees, but greens are set up to make you hit to certain parts of the fairways to get good approach angles. This course has more elevation changes and variety of holes than the other two. BUT: greens are VERY firm and don't hold many shots, even wedges, for most players who don't spin the ball like the pros. We noticed that some greens later in the round had had water put on them to make them a little more receptive, but were still very difficult to hold. And the greens were cut to a speed that most amateurs can't handle, including myself. Our group spent a lot of time chipping the ball back and forth over the greens, or running the ball 5, 10, or even 15 feet beyond the hole on putts. This contributed to a very slow pace and a lot of frustration. Although the course was in great shape in scenic surroundings, I can't recommend it for any but single-digit handicaps in the interest of golfer sanity.

Played on 8/5/06. Truly a spectacular morning of golf. Tee boxes were in wonderful shape, fairways nicely manicured, and the greens were lighting fast. Playing in the desert wind was an interesting challenge to get use to, but all in all a wonderful time.

MMorris - North Las Vegas
My favorite course in Las Vegas. Unbelievably good condition every time out. Service is first-rate with friendly staff abound. Pace of play is always fast, especially compared to other local courses. With new summer rates and twilight rates starting at 11 AM, the green fees are the best value in town, especially for locals. The course is tough but fair....a thinking man's course. Can't grab the driver on every hole....must factor in the ever present wind. Best bunker quality in town, which is a good thing since they are plentiful and strategically placed. The big allure is the par 3 #15 island green. Always a thrill! With three wonderful courses at Pauite, it's hard to justify playing anywhere else for pure golf enjoyment.

Played Sunday afternoon, 11/13 – sunny and gorgeous. Wind can really blow here, but it wasn’t a factor today – only a light breeze all day. Course was in great condition – greens smooth, fast, and firm but generally receptive. Course is visually attractive – desert setting, no trees anywhere, but lots of sand and waste areas. Some forced carries and of course Pete likes to hide his flags behind bunkers. More mounding and elevation change than at the sister Sun Mountain or Snow Mountain courses on the property. Course generally plays up, down, and across a long gentle slope, so many holes are all uphill with plateau-type greens surrounded by mounds and collection areas. Bring a straight game and a deft putting touch. Highly recommended.

Courses are located in the extreme Northen part of Vegas. However once you reach them they are a site to see. The wolf is the nicest in my opioion of the three. Many holes are tournament quality. Island green is intimidating to reach especially in the late afternoon when the wind picks up.
