OMG, they have just let this course completely go to hell. Fairways with mainly bumpy, short, interspersed mixed grasses and bare spots with greens that aren't (they look like mostly gray/white pressed mud). At least the rock strewn sand in the bunkers was still playable as long as you removed the pebbles. It seemed like half of the rakes we picked up in the bunkers were broken, too.
We played the Lakes Course the last few times and it seemed like it was getting a bit scruffy but still decent, so we decided to go for a little change of scenery and play the Desert Course this time out.
Unfortunately, to me this was just poorly maintained and not worth the drive from Vegas or the green fees. Played with a Hot Deal tee time from GolfNow and $54 was still too much, especially with the 100 mile round-trip drive and the extra $20 gas money to play here. Sad- it's just criminal to let these two Dye-designed beauties just fall apart like this.
Well, hopefully it will get better in the future (maybe they're letting it go before reseeding new grass this Summer?. I don't know, but for now-

The Desert course was our 2nd 18 of the day as it was the free round as part of the Golf Moose deal. We would have had to wait until 3:00 to get on the lakes again. Friday and Saturdays are busy times at Primm. This was my first time experiencing the Desrt course. This is a tight course with many many bunkers throughout. There is mounding on the sides of the fairways to help keep the ball in play. I hate to give bad reveiws of courses, but the neglect this course is receiving needs to be discussed. The best way to describe this course is that is is the ugly step-sibling of the Lakes course. We were told to go out anytime as it was wide open and for good reason. Tees - chewed up and many sanded and the sand just looked like they are trying to do a somewhat job of quick fixing, nothing wlse done to make them better. Fairways - Mix of dormant and green grass. More like a brown fairway with green polka dots. Odd lies every where. Rough - just longer verion of the fairway. Ball usually sitting between clumps of green quarter sized grass. Not good Bunkers - No rakes or maintenance filled with course desert sand. Greens - worse than the lakes course. Many large areas of diseased areas. Chipping onto ar putting across was an adventure. Many of the diseased areas looked like mold. Wasn't sure if that was mold or something they have put down to bring them back. The one thing that got me was the amount of Burro dung on the course. Almost every hole had five or six piles of it on the fairways, rough and near the greens. When I asked about it, they said that the burros got through the fence and now have taken over and they are not allowed to move them because they are protected. But there was no piles on the lakes course which I found intersting as they must clean it up. Did not see any burros on the course. After the round I asked why this course was in such bad shape, I was told that they are focusing their efforts on the Lakes course since its the most popular. They did not overseed the course this year and this if why the fairways are as bad as they are. Was also told the course would probably be in good shape until sometime next year. All this made me disappointed since the layout is very fun. Seems like the need to adopt the saying "build it and they will come". Definietly not worth the $95 rack rate. But was ok as a free round.

Played on Saturday 5/9 with a high school golf coach buddy and his friends for $65. We waited on a few holes early with a 2some in front of us, and was waved through a slow 4some around 12 to finish around 3:30.

C19 adjustments: max 4 in the pro shop (same group); can pay online or at the course; separate carts unless same household; no restaurant but they set up an outside BBQ (at the turn for Lakes, but no way for Desert, either before or after the round); no sand on carts but they had coolers with 2 bottles of water; 1 side of the range was open; no flags on practice green; short game area open;
cups are reversed.

1st time on Desert and I'm liking it. It has a Coyote Springs Lite vibe to it (different designers). Conditions are good, but not great. Tee boxes have some knobs, especially on the par 3s. Fairways were fast and firm, with no hardpan or thin areas. Rough was about 1 inch, a little thicker/longer around the greens. Sand, a bit hard and heavy, which doesn't fit the design; there's some small deep bunkers that are impossible with the current setup. The greens. How I want to love the greens, but they were on the medium speed side with some bumps. Practice green was faster.

Staff was great. Easy check in. Friendly starter. Only saw the drink cart once, as she was working both courses, luckily it was around 9. Cart barn guys/girls at the end of the round to drive your cart back from the parking lot if you wish.

This course has such great bones/potential. It's a Fazio design for $65 when the other Fazios courses in Vegas start at $500. It was the only course open for a couple of weeks, but now there's plenty of tee times available. I loved the course, trying not to say it's better than Lakes (recency bias) but they're pretty equal. Wish it was about $20 less right now considering the 1 hour drive for me.

Greens were recently verti-cut. I’d guess they need at least three more weeks to heal. This was some aggressive trenching! As a result, putting parallel to the cuts would often see the balls fall within these tracks and stay there—like the ball was on a rail. Putting perpendicular to the cuts, would see the ball bounce up and down like it was going over little curbs. (It was.). The course layout is great. Course conditioning is fair/average. Layout is really fun. Pace of play was excellent because most golfers were on the Lakes course (where greens had not been verti-cut).

Played the Desert Course on 3/26 as the second day of a guys golf trip with my cousin. As it was a guys trip, there was some drinking done the night before so we had a sluggish start. lol

Love these courses, the conditions of the courses are always top notch and the availability of tee times and pace of play out here makes this a must stop on my business trips to Vegas.

The greens always roll true, the fairways sit the ball up like it's on carpet, the staff is top notch. it's always a pleasure to play here.

The courses are a very good challenge and if the wind picks up, it makes them that much harder to play. Luckily for us, there was no wind to speak of the days we played so it made it the best time ever.

I played the lakes course today 8/30/17. Let me preface this review with this. The course was about to start overseeding in a day or two.

Three course was in terrible shape. The fairways were burnt and thin, the greens were dried out and beat up, and the rough was long and full of clover and crab grass. It seemed the maintenance crew took a vacation before the over seeding. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I checked before I went. Just didn't know they were letting go so bad.

I played on 8-8-17. It was my first time here. I hadn’t heard or read much about the courses beforehand. When I called to make my tee time, I asked which course had more trees, only thinking about being able to stay cool in the hot weather. The guy on the phone recommended the Lakes course, so I arrived planning to play that one. Check in was easy from bag drop to the pro shop. Apparently, there were very few players out that day but they were all on the Lakes course. After waiting at the first tee for about ten minutes, I decided to play the Desert course instead. When I got to the first tee there were two gentlemen there who immediately invited me to join them. They looked like a couple of interesting characters and I just had a feeling I’d have a fun time playing with them. The course was in pretty good shape. The fairways were equally green and brown but had good cushioned coverage throughout and provided lots of roll. The tees were level with minimal divot damage. The first green was lightly sanded but all the others were just beautiful, smooth, with no ball marks to fix (how refreshing!) The rolled medium speed and held shots really well. The bunkers- gosh, there were a lot of them- were pretty bad, being hard with lots of stones and very little sand. I enjoyed the layout a lot. The forward tees are just the right length for me at 5400 yds. There are some really fun par 3’s, #15 in particular, and several doglegs with the turn being tight and narrow just before the green. There are some elevated greens which were even more challenging when the wind picked up on the back nine. We finished in just under 4 hours. We never saw anyone else on the course so it was a very fun and relaxing round. I would happily play here again and would like to try the Lakes course also.

Played here on 11/12. It was my first time. I really enjoyed it! The course is a little beat up, probably from a hot summer. But the bones of the course are great! Very interesting layout, definitely a think your shot kind of course. For the most part you never realize you are right next to the freeway. The solar towers in the distance were a problem on a couple of occasions until the clouds rolled over. Greens were good, fairways were ok, rough was playable. Cart girl came round a sufficient number of times. Got a great deal with Deal Caddy from Golf Now that included two drinks- unrestricted. It was pure pleasure to sit at the club house overlooking the course and enjoy our drinks after a decent round!

Good morning GK Golfers. Last weekend we had an excellent golf trip to Viva Las Vegas. My buddies GDR23 (Gary) and Rtucker (Rick) and I started our golf trip at Primm Valley Golf Course. We played the Desert Course. This was my first time playing any Golf Course in Las Vegas. I have played most of the Golf Course in Ventura County. This is my first time getting out to play a GK Golf Event out of Ventura County.

On Friday, November 11th we stopped and played the Primm Valley Golf Course. They have two Golf Courses and we played the Desert Course. Wow, Wow, what a great golf course. The fairways were just amazing green and soft to hit your ball from. The tees were in perfect conditions and the greens were just perfect. The ball was rolling very well and but they were hard to read. The sand bankers needed a little more sand. I was there in a couple of holes and it was hard to get out as my club bounce back as it was very hard to hit as there was not enough sand in the bankers.

Customer services was excellent, they even let us go 20 minutes earlier than our tee time. We had our tee time at 1:00 PM, since we were able to start earlier. We finished the 18 holes. One thing with the Desert is that it gets darker sooner then our CA time.

So if you are going to Las Vegas stop at Primm Valley and get yourself a round of golf. It's well worthy and you will love their Golf Course. Overall, I graded this course 8.5. So, my dear GKer's get out there, hit the ball and let it roll.
