Played Sunbrook on 12/12/2021. Played The Pointe and Woodbridge 9s. Course was in good shape. Fairways were quite lush and greens were very fast. Pace was a bit slow since there was a hard frost the night before but it loosend up after the turn. Nice facility and very friendly staff. The course played tough than I expected but that could be because I played worse than expected. No surprise there.

Played Sunbrook Sunday after returning to St. George from playing Wolf Creek. We were glutens for punishment since the temperature was 104 degrees. But it was worth it!

Upon arriving we went into the club house the staff was very friendly helpful and efficient. The price was great between the green fees and a sleeve of ProV1s cost was $42 with afternoon rate. We got our carts loaded and headed to the first tee of the Black Rock nine. Sunbrook has three sets of nine each different. Black Rock has black lava rock that can come into play on the majority of its nine holes. We then played The Pointe for our second nine. The Pointe is far hillier with water coming into play on numerous holes. The 8th and 9th OC The Pointe are great finishing holes a par 5 with water between your drive and second shot and along the full left side of the green on your approach shot. The 9th is a medium long all uphill par 3 with a medium size green and lots of undulations.

The conditions for both nines were very good, green and lush. The sand traps were red lava sand which my friend said were fair to hit out of with a solid stroke. The rough was mostly lush with a few areas under repair, the tee boxes had been punched in the last month
and needed some work, they were level and were on their way back.

Once again a very fun course well worth the price, and a consistent POP at 3:45 for the round. Recommend playing Sunbrook if you visit St. George.

Played Monday morning (6/17) as a walk up single off the Woodbridge and Blackrock routing a little after 7:30am. I had checked their online site and saw that it was pretty open in the morning before 8:00. POP ended up being under 3 hours as I was by myself with nary a group in front that I caught.

The courses were undergoing their rye to bermuda transition so a few patches in the fairway were thin, but otherwise coverage all around was excellent. Rough was thick making anything longer than a short iron a bit of a gamble coming from distance. Tee boxes were good and bunkers looked decent with dark red sand. Greens held but were definitely on the slow side, which I had trouble with.

Echoing what sixpez and rgm2525 said in earlier reviews, this is a hidden gem. It doesn't get the pomp and circumstance that Entrada and Sand Hollow receive, but this place is a very good test requiring control of your golf ball. This routing changed between stream woodland to desert scrub, back to stream woodland then finishing up in among black lava fields. I can't think of another course with that much variation in style. Absolutely recommended.

This is a 27 hole public course, 3-9 hole courses. When you get there they assign you which 2 courses you will play. I played Woodbridge and Black Rock. The fairways and rough were in excellent condition, but the greens were disappointing as they were pocked and rough making a straight long put very difficult. Woodbridge is a nice layout and fun to play, Black Rock will give you fits. There are several holes that demand very accurate shots. All in all a fun day and I ended up shooting a 98 which I considered to be decent given the difficulty of the course. Played on April 2, 2019

Played all 27 holes here over the course of the past 2 days. Had a 6:30 tee time set for this morning on The Pointe/Woodbridge combo, so I went ahead and did the Blackrock nine yesterday evening. The Saturday morning 18 was a great $40 summer rate. Playing 9 holes the evening before was $23 and change, but it all worked out well to save me time in trying to tack on the extra nine this morning on a busier Saturday at the course. I think I was the only one on the Blackrock nine yesterday, so it was a quickie. This morning I was paired with a twosome, but they left after nine. I played the next nine by myself quickly until the final few holes when I caught the early morning groups. Still a total pace of 3 hours, so pretty nice! Unfortunately, my number rating may skew a bit low because conditions are pretty rough from tee to green right now. The fairways are pretty burnt out and they are also in the early stages of transitioning the entire course to a year-round bermuda. There were some sections that were already done and playing nicely, while there were also a lot of bare/muddy spots, too. The rough was better and much more consistent throughout. The bunkers have a very dark red coarse sand in them. They look really cool and very intimidating, but are a little chunky to play from with plenty of small pebbles mixed in. I will say that the greens were very nice. They were super soft this morning and a little slow while wet. However, they were quite quick the evening before, so the speed will vary depending on what time of day you are playing (like most places). Otherwise, the surfaces were nice and rolled well. The fairway conditions are a bit rough at the moment, but that still couldn't detract completely from the fact that this is definitely a hidden gem. May not get the attention of the area's resort courses because it is a muni, but the layout matches up with almost any other course in town. Each nine has its own character, multiple signature holes and really the course setting changes every 3-4 holes to make for a fun adventure. You have some woodsy holes down in the valley, and then some super hilly canyon/ridgeline holes with awesome views. Then, there's a stretch on Blackrock that is very cool with the same jagged black lava rocks all around like the back nine at Entrada. This is the newer nine here and it's a little bit detached from the clubhouse. I heard people in the parking lot arguing over which nine is their favorite, so it shows that all three are worth experiencing. Even being a little rough around the edges at the moment, I would easily concur with rgm2525's recent assessment of this being another "must play" course in an area loaded with great golf. It's kind of the sleeper pick of the draft.

Played 6-18-18 early morning as a single for $40 including cart and finishing in around 2 and a half hours. This is a 27 hole facility and I played the Woodbridge/Black Rock rotation. Tee boxes were in great shape, level, lush, and good coverage. Fairways were also in great shape very green and lush with great lies and minimal roll out. Rough was in real good shape, maybe 2 inches longer than fairways and lush. Was in one greenside bunker that had nice semi-firm red sand. Greens were in very good shape rolling smooth at medium speed and holding well struck shots. The Woodbridge 9 plays through some houses but they are set back so that you really don't notice them. This side has some nice uphill and down hill holes with water coming into play on three of them including a 200 yard downhill island hole. The Black Rock side is more on the flat side a little more open, with two holes having water in play and three holes playing through the lava rocks. If you are in the St George area I would say this is a must play.

Course is in a transitional stage I think. Some holes were very good and some look like the heat from the summer has taken a toll on them. The Woodbridge nine rough was a lot higher and thicker than the Pointe nine.
Greens were very soft and quite bumpy but we played in the afternoon so there might have been a lot of play on them. Got a summer rate of $26.00 so I thought it was a great deal

We were in town for a short trip,booked a tee time last minute at www.DesertGolfer.com because my options were limited,still scored a great rate,1st group off twilight.

The course has (3) regulation nine holes,each layout has it's own unique character. HIGHLY recommend you BOOK the "BLACK ROCK" as part of the combo 18 holes. The other nine we played is the "Pointe" the next time we will play the Blackrock/Woodbridge to compare.

This is a City owned course but DON"T let this keep you from playing this hidden gem. Very easy going staff, after checking in, you can take a golf cart to the parking lot and load up at your own leisure, which I love!

Practice Tee, small bucket is $3.00 for about 30 golf balls. The only downside, may not be able to hit drivers or woods since hole #9 (woodbridge) is located on the left side of the range. Large putting green, very indicative of how the greens will, faster than you think, very true roll.

We ONLY played this course once, years ago when we played with this other couple from our area. Holes started to look very familiar but I did play the appropriate tees (gold), next time I can play further back (black).

Pleasantly surprised the fairways were in Fantastic condition, very green & lush, almost impossible to have a bad lie in the fairway. In fact, the divots are being repaired/replaced w/green sand. The Black rock layout plays through a lava field on about 4 holes. Some holes are quirky but very playable. EX: Hole #2 Par 5, MAKE sure you layup before the 150 yard marker OTHERWISE you will roll easily into the creek less than 50 yards from the green. This part of the fairway is FIRM & FAST plus an added down slope just about 140 yards! The remaining holes, water strategically comes into play

The POINTE nine holes start with an easy Par 4, then the next hole PAR 5 plays all uphill, some nice elevation changes. Holes #7 & #8 are very demanding holes that need your attention, very tough!

My 2nd approach shot on the PAR 5 found the water hazard on the left, it was still playable! I told my wife,get ready because I'm going to "attempt" to play it to save strokes. I played it left handed,used the back of my lob wedge, made solid contact back to the fairway...THINKING I hit it perfect! It then rolled from the fairway, back down the slope into the water hazard about 50 feet in front of me...:( This time I couldn't play it, too deep into the hazard, took my penalty, managed to $ave a "7".

I almost forgot about the 470 slightly elevated Par 4! The area to carry the green is super narrow, protected by a bunker and a very large water hazard, there is a picture of it located on the website.

Greens: Multi-colored but were faster than they appeared and were rolling very nicely, no bumps. However, these greens were very firm, approach shots wouldn't hold at all, lots of run out. Not many ball marks when they are very firm.

Bunkers: Interesting mix of sand, medium texture but consistent.

Tee boxes: Very good condition for this time of the year, Kudos to the maintenance crew.

Very nice Clubhouse which overlooks parts of the course.

Played Woodbridge/Blackrock when I arrived on Friday the 10-21. This is a perfect example of the variety of Golf courses in the St. George area. This is a very mature type course that has been there for years, but doesn't show any signs of wear. My friend and I played with a single who must have been a long drive competitor, Had more air time on his drives than anyone I have ever seen. The course was in very good condition, with the exception of the rough, which was 3-4 inches. This is a must play.
