Another top notch St George golf course. The place was in immaculate condition, except like every golf course we played in this part of the country, there were unrepaired ball marks on every green. Its like no one in Utah or Nevada knows what a divot repair tool looks like. I must have fixed 10 ball marks on every single green I played, all week long. And at The Ledges every green had a little yellow sign on the side saying "please repair ball marks'. Must have went on deaf ears.
Other then this the greens rolled great, and had a lot of undulation making them very tricky. The front 9 at The Ledges is pretty open and playable. The holes are very nice with long par 3s, but no real trouble. After you get past 10 another 200 yard par 3 it heads up into the mountain and the views are amazing. There is a stretch of 5 or 6 great holes including one drivable if you want to take the chance par 4. I laid up with 6 or 7 iron and had wedge in both times. I would highly recommend anyone in the area playing this and Coral Canyon and for under $100 they are IMO good values for the type of course you are playing.

MMorris - North Las Vegas
Played Friday, 25 May at the twilight rate of $60. First class atmosphere with a beautiful clubhouse. Nice GPS system on the carts but a moot point when you can't drive within a 100 yards of the greens. I'd recommend some yardage markers to help judge distances in these critical wedge areas. Pace of play was excellent (3 hours for two) as the course was fairly empty. Unfortunately, we started on #10 as the back nine is more impressive than the front nine, which left us wanting more. The fairway conditions are next to perfect while the rough is quite penal (thick). Beautiful scenery on the back nine. Greens were smooth and true but were a bit on the slow side and didn't hold shots well. They also were a bit tricked up as they had many undulations and tiers. Bunkers were a little "soft"...my wife's ball was almost completely buried in one. In all a nice course with excellent conditions but I would be hard pressed to shell out $110 to play it...try it after 2 PM.

dconnally - Mission Viejo, CA
Played Sunday afternoon, 5/20/07, on a sunny, windy day. Two very different nines, with front having a links feel (flat, no trees), and back playing through rocks and canyons adjacent to Snow Canyon. Great scenery on some back nine holes, but lots of construction going on (huge homes!) and golf has been shoe-horned into too small an area for the conditions (hanging on cliffsides, sometimes brutal wind, blind tees shots to 90-degree angle fairways, etc.). Some playing areas are too small for the conditions, and when the wind comes up the course is not fair. In those windy conditions, the player needs more flexibility to play different shots. Downwind holes on the front like playing in a wind tunnel to hard, plateau greens that couldn’t hold shots. Penal rough made play anywhere off the fairway very difficult, and then hitting into those hard greens .... Rough, swales, arroyos, etc. restricted the shot options available. And you can bulldoze number 16 right now! Play it once to say you did, but I won’t be back.

ck333 - Salt Lake City
Played course on 3/23/07. Course was in great shape. The front nine is flat and the fairways are wide open and allows you to warm up before the more challenging back nine. Being from Salt Lake it was the first round of the year, so the friendly front nine allowed us to get rid of some of the cobwebs.
The views are simply spectacular. #12 green looks like it is floating in the air with a canyon and magnificent view behind it. Greens run true, but slow on front nine, the back nine greens run a bit faster. I was there on a business trip and the company picked up the tab.
This is a very nice course with spectacular views, but you could spend the same amount of money and get to play both Sunbrook and Green Spring (or Coral Canyon).

This will be tough,I rated the course as "great" and the conditions and service were great, however, there is no rating for "interesting" there is no rating for, oh, maybe "toughness". Ledges opened in March 06. They let the course sit for an extra 6 months to mature. This is one of the nicest looking tracks I ever stepped on. Green and greener grass, lake you can see the bottom of in the center. Fairways sooo wide you think its funny, ya, on the front 9 you cant miss the fairway,I tried, impossible. Front 9 is boring, flat, wanted to know why the hell I spent my $100 on line green fee for this beautiful but boring regular muni layout. AND, while its no ones fault they are building houses and roads and who knows what else very close by,very noisy. THEN you turn to the back nine, go up the mountain and are looking at some of the most spectacular scenery you will ever see, a state park never to be wrecked, you soon forget the front and get your camera out. Back nine is tougher more interesting and its weird but we all played better. Greens are wonderful, fast and faster, and its a challenge as you cant figure out what the breaks are. Sooo,, I am glad I played the Ledges, I know it is there to go private ASAP and I am happy to have seen the back 9 scenery. But, unless I got a deal, I wont be back. I get tired of paying for very rich and super upscale clubhouses. You would have to go far to see a better clubhouse,Think PGA Beaumont and up the cost double. But it will make a fine private course, the members will insist the front be changed.
