Played here today. What a great golf course. Designed by Glen Bates who did Circling Raven in ID. He has another winner. Just check all the awards it has received in the 3 years it has been open. All bent grass on the whole course. Fantastic use of the terrain combining long and short holes. I truly enjoyed his use of bunkers as line of site/targets allowing the golfer to avoid the bunkers, unless they were really hooking/slicing the ball. Five sets of tees for all players. Large and level tee boxes. Wide inviting fairways and wonderfully large greens, that are great to putt on, and really hold shots well. Rough is thick/penal and woods/ravines line all the fairways. But the fairways are wide and unless you are totally off your game, you won't be in the woods/ravines? The course is located N of Olympia in Shelton so it is a ways out, for those visiting Seattle but I can truly say it is worth the drive. It is on the Little Creek Casino/Resort, so you can do a stay/play deal. Some great designed holes (pics to follow) especially 9 & 18 both of which require long carries (150 - 200) over a creek and waste areas. Also, 9&18 share one large green, with a large lake in front, that will come into play, if you are short on approach. If you love golf? And who of us on this site does not? You should put this one on your list of "must" plays when in the Seattle/Tacoma area. Great staff, great rates (small bag of balls included), great driving range and practice areas. I highly recommend you play this course when you have the opportunity.
