Played Mon 6/27, 9am tee time, the last of the Seattle tour. This is a fun low key course. Wide fairways and fescue lining many of the holes. Rolling dunes, some trees... Quite a few blind drives, but fair... I spent a bit of time driving up to see the landing area, after I almost hit a perfect drive into the blind canyon on #2. Long hard par 3s. Greens rolling smooth, fast 10, slow 11. Course in great shape... I would play here all of the time.

Took the day off of work today (Friday 6/10/22) and played the Home Course with a few friends, and really enjoyed it. There was a ton of rain yesterday but as expected the course drained incredibly well, and even though my friends were playing winter rules I played the ball down throughout the round and was rewarded with very good lies. The only place where any water issues were to be had was the bunkers, as almost all of them had some standing water which was totally expected. Greens rolled very true, although a little on the slow side. There might have been one or two bumps, but not many at all. They were wet early, and started to dry out and pick up some speed as the day warmed up (we teed off right on time, at 8:10am). Fairways played very well, there are a few scruffy spots as well as a few that were quite wet, but you had to hit an utterly terrible shot to find those places. A decently struck drive got a nice amount of roll, and paid you back with a very nice lie. Rough was a tad longer than I'm used to seeing here, but was still very manageable and quite healthy. Stray too far from the fairway and you're in the knee high long grass, and very much in danger of losing a ball. Tee boxes were all in very good shape. I went in on a punch card with a friend, so for $75 I've got 2 rounds to play here, I'll be using the next one in a few weeks on my birthday making the value is incredible. The only real investment is the time, as I need to drive a little over an hour to get here. I was so happy to spend that time and find the place is still in great shape. Very highly recommended.

Played the blue/white combo tees at The Home Course this past Saturday, July 3rd, and had a decent time. Conditions are very good right now, greens roll much better than the last time I was here, pretty smooth at a medium pace. They're holding shots pretty well too. Fairways can be thin here, but right now they felt much healthier. I don't think I could call them lush, but they were pleasant to hit from, and gave tons of roll. The rough is cut down, and not too much of a penalty. If you stray real far off line, there's some tall native grass areas where it is very easy to lose a ball. Tee boxes and bunkers are solid as well. Customer service in the shop and at the turn was very good. The only downside to the day was the pace of play, we teed off a minute or two after our 7:35 am tee time, and it took about 4:40 to finish the round with waiting on most every tee box. Conditions almost make up for it, but I feel like if I'm teeing off that early, I really should be able to get the round in a lot closer to 4 hours than 5. Still worth it, but I might make my next round there during the week if I can sneak away from the office for a day.

Walked the Home Course this morning and had a very good time, paired with a pleasant father and son pair. We teed off about an hour late from our 8:30 tee time due to a frost delay, and got around in 4:10 for a decent pace. Had to start on #15 as it is close to the clubhouse and their back 9 thaws a bit faster than the front. The foursome in carts in front of us were a bit slow (cart path only wasn't helping them at all) and they let us through on #1. The pace was excellent after that.

Conditions were a bit mixed, greens were incredibly bumpy and slow. There were plenty of unrepaired pitch marks, but the bumps really weren't due to that. Overall, they really were a bit disappointing. There are times here where they look really bad and roll ok, but today they rolled just like they looked. Tee to green, however, these were the best conditions I've experienced since early fall. Even after getting 2 inches of rain yesterday, balls got plenty of roll in the fairway, never plugging, not picking up too much mud, and giving a pretty good lie to hit from. The rough was just a little bit longer, and not very penalizing. I found a few greenside bunkers, and the sand was incredibly compact and not very good to play out of. I can't really hold that against them as it has rained a lot lately. Tee boxes had a few divots, but they're all very level and good to hit from.

Starting on 15 didn't bother me much, but finishing on 14 is very weird. Its a par 3 over water (not a full on island like the River Ridge's Vineyard) and is really not a great place to finish. In times past they've handled frost delays with a shotgun start, with groups on 15, 16, 17, 18 and 1. Due to Washington's Covid restrictions they're not allowed shotguns so everyone's time was pushed back an hour. I received an email from the shop in the morning as I was just about to start the drive down warning me about the frost, which I really appreciated, as it is a long drive for me and it was good to know that I could take my time a bit. I was also lucky that today's a vacation day for me and starting late didn't wreck any non golf related plans.

Walked The Home Course as a single this morning, teeing off just before 7:00 and finishing about 10:30 for an excellent pace. I was second out behind a 3 some with another 3 some behind me. I took my time getting in a little extra chipping and putting on a few of the greens, so I was never closer than a hole and a half to either group. Conditions were pretty good, fairways and rough were very nice. At times the fairways can be a little thin here, but they are very lush right now, giving great lies with tee shots still rolling out pretty well. The rough isn't too long, and not much of a penalty. There's some natural areas if you're really wild off the tee which are quite the mixed bag. I managed to avoid all of that, but it looked to be thin enough out there that at least you won't lose a ball. Greens looked awful, but actually putted decently. A little bit slower than normal, with a little bit of sand, but still not too bad. I found myself taking some of my extra time to repair some of the pitch marks that other players had left behind. Bunkers are pretty bad right now, extremely compact and wet, but there's not a whole lot they can do about that as it rained quite a bit this past week. Tee boxes were all perfectly level, but perhaps just a bit shaggy.

I love the layout here, I played the Blue/White combo tees which are about 6300 yards. With the length that I've got that makes a couple of the par 5's reachable, plus it lets me hit shorter clubs into some of the par 3's. There was a good bit of wind today, and much of the course is quite exposed to it so you definitely needed to take an extra club or two (or a club or two less) here and there. It is very nice how the course sets up for anyone, the tips are over 7000 yards, and there's options all the way down to 5400 yards.

I grabbed a beverage at the turn, and then saw the beverage cart once during the back nine as well. Now that they have a restaurant, I went ahead and grabbed lunch after. I had finished pretty early, and they weren't planning on opening until 11 but they went ahead and took care of me. The burger and fries were excellent, plus the first beer only costs 1 penny per stroke on your score for the day so the price is right. Service in the pro shop, restaurant, and on course was perfect. It's definitely worth going out of your way to play here, I would absolutely play here all of the time if it were a bit closer to home.

Played The Home Course this morning, and had a very good experience as always. Started an hour late from my tee time due to a frost delay, but once out on the course the weather was absolutely perfect for a March day here in the north west. Pace of play was very good as they had us start as a shotgun, with my buddy and I walking with a single riding starting as the first group off of #1. Pace was great as no one was in front of us and the group behind lagged a bit, at least until we got to #15 (which is pretty close to the clubhouse) where they were sending off groups. For those last 4 holes we did have to wait on every shot, but the first 14 holes were so perfect I really can't complain.

Greens rolled very good for the late winter/early spring here, faster than most public places with the occasional bump. As the temperature went up, so did their speed. I happened to be striking the ball really well, so every shot in held very well, and I was very happy to not find any unrepaired ball marks when I arrived to each green. I was also fortunate enough to not find any bunkers, so I can't comment on their condition. A couple of them are being redone and are marked as ground under repair, I would imagine once that's finished they'll be just fine.

Fairways on the front nine, and the first few holes on the back, were actually even better than I expected. They're always firm with lots of roll, but at times a little thin. This morning they were just about perfect, up until #15. From then on they were thin, and a bit sandy as well as it seemed like a bit of maintenance was being done. I think finding the rough on #17 was better than being on the fairway as the rough here is pretty short, and not too much of a penalty. Tee boxes were very good, on the par 3's the markers had been moved away from any divot damage so there were no issues whatsoever.

As always, The Home Course is worth the drive for me to get there. I wish I had a little more time today, as they have opened up a restaurant and I've yet to be able to try it. For the longest time this place has had nothing but a trailer for a golf shop and a great course, hopefully the next time I'm down I'll be able to sample the other amenities they're getting around to adding.

Played The Home Course this Sunday. Course was in great shape. Greens were fast and challenging. Larger greens than I am used to and lots of undulations. It's been very dry for this part of the country but we found the fairways to be in great shape. The rough (fescue) and the bunkers (of which there are many) were well maintained.

Walked the Home Course very early this morning, teeing off with another single around 6:30am. It felt like we had the place to ourselves, as we were always a hole behind the twosome walking in front of us, and the group behind us was always at least a hole and a half behind us. Coupled with the phenomenal weather, it was a great day. The greens have recovered very well from their spring punch, and rolled very true. I was a little bit bummed by how many unrepaired and poorly repaired ballmarks I found on the front nine, but they weren't too much of an issue. Speed was medium fast, at least compared to the rest of the places I play here in the northwest, and I found that you did need to be assertive if going uphill, and careful when coming down. A solidly struck shot held very well. Fairways could be a little bit thin, but really not bad to hit from, and they gave lots of roll like always here. Rough's very thin, and not much of a penalty. The one green side bunker I found was in very good shape, although somewhat thin, but that's really being nit picky. Teeboxes were excellent. It's a bit of a drive for me to get here, but the value of this place is just amazing. If you want a nice restaurant, and an attendant to clean your clubs, this isn't the place for you. But, if you want a really well conditioned, walkable golf course in a very nice setting, this place is tough to beat.

Made the trek down to the Home Course yesterday morning, (Sunday, 10/18/15) and enjoyed the round very much. Teed off maybe a minute ahead of our 8:06 am tee time, and enjoyed a very smooth 4 hour round with just the tiniest bit of waiting on the first few holes. As things got spread out, our foursome rarely saw the groups in front of us, and we never saw the people behind us.

Conditions from tee to green were very nice as always, fairways were firm and gave a lot of roll on tee shots, but still were not thin and just about always gave you a great lie to hit from. The rough isn't too long, but the ball could still sit down just enough to make you earn your recovery. Tee boxes were great, and while I was fortunate enough to not find any bunkers, my playing partners said they were just fine. The greens were significantly slower than normal here, which did make it very tough to get the ball to the hole. I think since everyone in our group was quite familiar with course it really was a massive adjustment. While slow, the greens did run relatively true and only hopped occasionally. They were a bit softer than usual as well, most approaches didn't release as much as normal, and when chipping into a green you needed to be a lot more aggressive than you'd expect. Just the same, they felt like they're recovering very well from the recent punch and will probably be in the best possible winter shape within a couple of weeks.

I'm sure its colored by how well I personally played, but this really was one of the most enjoyable rounds I've played in some time. The stars did line up well, especially in that my friend and I were paired with another twosome that played at about the same level as us, and all four of us were consistently hitting good shots. It sure can make such a difference when everything feels so positive, and everyone feeds off of the quality of their fellow players.
