We play this course every week this spring in our golf league. It typically is a wet golf course in the winter but has dried out beautifully and is excellent shape. My only complaint might be the sand traps which I find to be rocky in many places. This course was developed in hopes of possibly supporting a major golf tournament. It has never risen to that level of renown but I think the golfer wins with a fine course at a reasonable price. The facilities are somewhat undeveloped but nevertheless this is worth going out of your way to play.

Took a mid week vacation day yesterday (7/20/16) and walked Washington National. I played by myself, behind another single in a cart that I never saw after the second hole. No one ever pushed me from behind, so even with practicing short game shots and putting at several of the greens, I played all 18 in a very comfortable 3.5 hours. Conditions were pretty solid, the greens were very nice, even with a few having some unrepaired ball marks. They rolled very true, medium to quick with lots of subtle breaks near the holes, and were quite firm. A well struck iron would hold, but anything not hit solidly (or hit out of the rough) was going to release a fair bit. Fairways were very firm as well, with some spots that are a bit fried and should be marked as ground under repair. Fortunately most of those seemed to be in the spots that don't get a lot of play (or at least I managed to avoid the bulk of those spots). I had good lies in the short grass all day, and got plenty of roll on all of my shots. Rough isn't too long, and not too penalizing for the most part, although it was long enough to make you wish you'd found the fairway. Tees were in very good shape, all of them pretty level, and even the par threes didn't have much divot damage. If the conditions had a weak spot, I would say that it is the sand. The greenside bunkers I found on #10 and #16 were pretty nice, with just enough soft sand to splash out. I found a few fairway bunkers, however, and they were a bit inconsistent. One felt just like a greenside bunker, one was a bit thin, and then the third one that I found was incredibly thin, with a lot of rocks. All of the bunkers on this course are quite deep, so a difficult shot gets even more difficult when you find yourself feeling very unsure about how the club's going to react when you hit the sand. I understand they are hazards, but their depth makes them difficult enough, in my opinion. I've played here a lot over the years, and I really do love the layout. Conditions are always a bit better than the munis I usually play, and I found that to be the case again today. I think the rack rate's a little bit steep, but having bought a 3 round weekday deal from Oki golf, it works out to $53 per round, which i think is more than fair. I can play these rounds at any of the Oki courses, but I've done the 1st two now at Washington National, and I'd be very surprised if I don't return here for the third.

Took a day off of work this past Thursday, 5/1/14, and played Washington National. I bought Oki's weekday 3 round deal, so for $150 plus tax you get 3 rounds, which is a pretty good deal for this place, in my opinion. I love the layout here, lots of scoring opportunities, but your bad shots do get punished. Conditions overall were very good, greens were absolutely perfect, medium fast and rolling very true. Bunkers were very consistent with just the right amount of sand, not too hard and not too soft. Rough and tees were in great shape as well. A few fairways looked as though they had been punched recently and were very dry and a bit sandy. There were a few sketchy lies, which was the only disappointment of the day. The fairways that hadn't been punched were great. I've never really played here in the winter, as I've heard that drainage can be an issue, but if the weather's nice, Washington National's a pretty good time.

Fairways were spotty and burned, greens had way to many unrepaired ball marks for my liking. There are much better courses here in So Cal for less money. The course is challenging and I have seen it in much better condition, you would think that a GC owned by the biggest university in Washington could afford more water. A couple of gimmick holes kind of take the gild off the lily but it's fun to play and has a couple of Risk/Reward holes.

Played Washington National this morning for the 1st round of my local golf vacation, and I'm so glad I chose to start here. I've always liked this layout, lots of challenge but still very fair. Conditions were really near perfect. Greens were just a little soft, as most everything I hit held extremely well. They rolled quite true though, at a medium speed. Fairways were very nice, rough was lush yet playable, and tee boxes were in very good shape. If there was something that wasn't quite right, it was the greenside traps' consistency. I found 2 today, the 1st was really soft and fluffy like I expected from visits past, but the 2nd was a bit thin. Still, those are supposed to be hazards, so I can't really complain too much. Great customer service in the shop, great conditions, plus a beautiful day made for a really great experience. I need to come back to this place sooner rather than later.

Played here twice last week and there are a couple of fairways that have been punched here. A couple of the greens had real small holes but it didn't affect the roll. These greens were deceptively fast. Even after my second round I don't think I had the speed down. I liked the course, it was quite a challenge. The front 9 is pretty playable as the holes are pretty bunched up together. The back 9 is more tree lined and you and the hole. I was expecting the course to be soft but I found out that the area almost set a record for number of days without rain so everything was pretty firm. There are some dry spots out there but nothing that is too bad. Sand trap were pretty good, found myself in quite a few and there are a couple with a pretty significant lip that you may not be able to reach the green or just lucky to get out. Nice big range and a nice big putting green too. Great staff out there too.

Played on Jun14, and what a treat this course was overall. Great layout, every hole has something to remember. I walked it in 4 hrs just prior to a shotgun tourney and found conditions excellent, tee to green ... albiet some thin fairways here and there. This is a thinkers course and you can go low if you're game is on, but errant shots will find the strategically located bunkers or water hazards that surround almost every landing area or green. Speaking of greens, a bit slow today but you can tell that ball placement would be crucial when they are rolling at a 10 or better.
Good food and friendly staff, grounds crew everywhere trimming, cutting, and cleaning up. Not a course to miss if you are in the Seattle area. Highly recommended!

The Home Course of my hometown and a proud alum of the UW Huskies! Last played here in September 2011, and is one of my favorites. Nice staff and great facilities greet you before you tee off. Course Conditions during late spring, Summer and Fall months are always good. Fairly Wide open off the tee, with huge greens and aggressive bunkering make this course a good test and of utmost importance to be precise in your approach shots. Strongly suggest if you do play the OKI GOLF courses you pick up a oki card and save money. Otherwise the green fees are a bit on the steep side. Must play if you are in the area.
