A quick update for the course. Last week RGM2525 and I played early morning (7:10 tee time) and yesterday I played in the mid afternoon with a 2PM tee time. Both times POP was slow at 4-4.5 hrs. Weather is cooling off making it bearable to walk which may be part of the problem wit the morning time? And now that it's rather pleasant in the afternoon more and more people are coming out. Yesterday it was one group who was holding everything up.

Condition wise, fairways still rock and greens are soft and receptive. Expect a lot of back spin on well struck approach shots. With the afternoon tee time and three groups ahead of us, there were a ton of foot prints around the greens. Last week with the morning start it wasn't an issue.

Seems like every week more and more of the bunkers are being marked GUR. Of the three I was in yesterday, only one was not marked Ground Under Repair. If they give the bunkers some attention (like Dragonfly finally did) then this course will be top notch!! I rated the greens a little lower than usual but that's just because of the afternoon footprints. For an idea of how pristine the fairways are, check out the picture posted from last weeks morning round. Absolutely immaculate!

Customer service is a 9.5 out of 10. As soon as they order a shirt in my size, they'll get a 10!

The course is about 9 miles off Highway 99. Well worth the stop if traveling from North to South and vice versa.

Played 9-29-21 early morning with Alex as a twosome, finishing in a little over 3 hours and 45 minutes with some waiting on most holes, but weather was great and company was better so it really wasn't a bother. Tee boxes were in good shape, level and cut to a nice height. Fairways are in really good condition, great lies with minimal roll out and nice cushioning. Rough was in good shape, 1-2 inches longer than fairways with the ball sometimes sitting down in the Bermuda. Was in a couple of fairway bunkers that had a little more sand or dirt in them than normal which makes in nicer to hit out of with the tall faces. Greens were in great shape, soft and smooth rolling at medium pace in the morning and getting a little faster towards the end of the round. Always enjoy playing this course, and playing with a good friend makes it better.

Played Ridge Creek Friday morning with a 7AM tee time. Staff is excellent and they let me start on the back nine so I could join JusGas88 and another friend for the front nine on their 9AM tee time. Fairways continue to steal the show with absolutely near perfect fairways. Very lush and a nice deep emerald green color for the most part.

Greens rolled a little slower (still a decent pace) early on due to the moisture but then sped up after the turn and the sun was out. Greens rolled nice and smooth. I did notice that a couple of greens and some bad areas around the edges, similar to that of the greens at Riverside. I’m curious if it has something to due with the smoke/ash filled air due to the fires in the area? Ridge Creek greens have never had any issues like this in the past.
Greens remain soft and very receptive to approach shots.

Tee boxes were fine and not sure if I mentioned this when I played here last week before heading to Vegas, but they have now marked some of the bunkers as Ground Under Repair. As mentioned before, half of the bunkers are fine and the other half are horrible. They have now deemed the bad ones as GUR.

Ridge Creek is definitely a go to course in the valley.

I had a few hours of down time yesterday afternoon and decided to spend it at Ridge Creek. Course remains in the same condition as my last few reviews but I wanted to mention the bunkers. I played here last week as well and noticed that the greenside bunkers I was in last week as well as the two I visited yesterday were in decent shape. Not great but definitely playable and predictable.

Fairways are starting to show some signs of the hot valley summer weather in that they now have some brown tint to them here and there. Fairways still present an above average hitting surface.

I started on the back nine as the High School girls were playing a match on the front nine. I (happily) waited 25 minutes for them to finish on the first tee after making the turn but still finished in just under 3 hours. Customer service is always fantastic at Ridge Creek.

After getting skunked on birdies on Sunday during the GK outing I had to go back out to Ridge Creek yesterday. Course is in such great shape right now that I opted to stay in the valley and play with JusGas88 in the heat instead of coming up to the cool peninsula. Plus it’s car week and it’s a zoo here right now. As stated in my last few reviews course is in above average to excellent shape all around sans the bunkers. We played mid morning and after letting a sing through early set our own pace. With reasonable rates, great conditions, excellent staff and a fun but challenging layout, it’s a win win situation and a no brained to play! Whereas my score was a few strokes higher, at least I didn’t strike out in the birdie dept.

Played 8-8-21 afternoon with Alex, Wendy, and Justin, teeing off around 2:30 and finishing in a little under 4 1/2 hours. Tee boxes were in nice shape, level and lush with minimal divot damage on par threes. Fairways were in very nice condition they had great coverage with decent roll out and very nice lies. Rough was in good shape, about2-3 inches and lush. was in one greenside bunker that had a thin layer of sand, and one fairway bunker that was closer to hardpan. Greens were in really nice shape, they were on the soft side and rolling medium pace with an occasional bump mostly from poorly repaired divots. Overall course is in really good condition and well worth playing.

A fun day with the GK Gurus on 8-8-21. I played here a couple years ago and was very excited to have an opportunity to give it another go. Other than being so far away, Ridge Creek Dinuba is everything I enjoy in golf course. There is a great practice area, the staff is helpful and friendly and restaurant is good. There is such a calm, relaxed and happy atmosphere here. It would be so easy to just hang out for an entire day, golfing or not. The course is in very nice shape with lush fairways and large, level tee boxes. I was in about six of those big, big bunkers. They had more hard, pebbly dirt than sand but were still ok to hit from. I found the unmaintained native area only once. Fortunately, I landed in dirt rather than the foot-long vegetation so was able to easily get back to fairway safety. The greens were soft, had way too many ball marks, but rolled nicely. I would like to play here again, in cooler weather when walking is an option. Highly recommended.

Great time Sunday afternoon with GK Gurus.

I need to find a way to play Ridge Creek Dinuba more than once a year and how to score well on it. Very unique John Fought Heathland Designed Layout with no water hazards, wide fairways, large greens … however over 100 deep bunkers, deep rough if you happen to miss the fairways, well protected greens and LONG. This is an excellent track kept in great condition despite 100+ summer temps for weeks straight in the Central CA Valley. The greens are showing signs of heat stress which likely explains how moist they are. I’m guessing if they don’t keep them moist, they will burn. Moist greens means significant ball mark damage at impact. The ball marks are easy to fix although which lead to my disappointed in golfers that played prior to us that day. Ridge Creek Dinuba has signs on all the golf carts asking golfers to PLEASE fix ball marks … shame those that are not are that inconsiderate to their fellow golfers and the golf course. Overall the greens were still very nice, rolling smooth when your ball did not have to deal with a ball mark, medium speed and holding shots like darts. I bet playing here on a weekday morning instead of Sunday afternoon makes a significant difference as far as ball marks.

The fairways are immaculate. Perfect lies every time, lush, decent run out. Love them.

Rough, oh boy, if you happen to miss the large fairways and find your ball in the rough, take your medicine and wedge it back into play.

Bunkers, brutal tough, deep faces in them all. That includes the fairway traps. I was in a bunch of bunkers. They all have a rugged look bordered by long fescue rough. I don’t mind the ruggedness, however I did mind that most of them had poor quality firm sand. I’m sure it would be a huge expense to replenish the bunkers given how many they have. But I know that the already beautiful aesthetics of the bunkers would become jaw dropping if they did contain high quality sand.

Tee boxes in great shape. Lush and mostly level. I think because Ridge Creek Dinuba is smart in setting up wide 30ft+ tee markers they can evenly distribute the wear and tear. Wish more golf courses did this.

Before golf some of us sat down at Jacks bar and grill. Great food and service. The patio looks upon the 9th green. It’s one of my favorite places to eat at a golf course. I always plan on having a meal there before golf or after play.

Best to get to the golf course at least an hour before your tee time not only to grab a bite to eat at Jacks but also to enjoy their massive, world class practice facilities. Large grass range, pitching, chipping and sand game area, practice putting green and even an area dedicated to hitting wedge shots to a green complex from 100 yards and in.

Ridge Creek Dinuba is a golf paradise for the public in an area of Central California few would expect. Journey to it at least once a year like I do. Sure it’s a long drive from SoCal, NorCal and the Central Coast but worth it.

Rode the Blues (6493/70.1/116) with John x 2 in slightly less than 5H at the GK Guru outing. Teeing off around 2:45, the weather was muggy, breezy, sunny and in the high 90's. John Fought links design that I really like. No water hazards and few trees, but lots of sand, large undulating greens and slopes toward deep rough challenge plenty. Magnified with thick, deep native rough that will catch and probably keep crooked shots. Probable lost ball, and even if you find it, likely an unplayable lie. VERY penal. Say this every time I play here, but the course slope ratings are way too low for a course with lost ball rough lurking barely off every fairway IMO. Throw in the wind, and this course is deceptively tough for the bogey golfer who is looking at +1 and +2 all day for any shot more than about 10 yards from most fairways. Tees had good coverage and were mostly level. Par 3's were pretty chewed up and needed divot repair. With that said, the tee boxes are HUGE, 25 yards wide. In most cases they put markers completely on both sides, so you have plenty of room to find a level spot with good turf. Just unusual to be able to legally change you line off the tee by 20+ yards. Fairways have good coverage and were very nice to play from. Rough close to the fairway is mowed down not much higher than the fairways. Which is actually a detriment because it's easy to roll a ball into the deep junk just on the other side. The unmaintained native rough is very thick, deep and penal in most areas. Sand traps were nicely maintained and the two greenside sand attempts I played had a decent amount of sand underneath. Firmness was an asset in the fairway traps. Large undulating greens putted nice in spite of WAY too many ball marks. Very receptive to holding irons and medium speed. We saw some irons back up 5-10' on these greens, with craters left for ball marks, not the normal dents you see on many courses. I like the layout, it would definitely be in my rotation if not approximately 150 miiles from home. With the firmness of the course, shots offline rolling into bunkers or even the deep rough has to be factored into club selection. Excellent restaurant on site, good food and service. Good all grass practice area. Highly recommended.
