Wonderful layout. Winds through the vineyards. Lots of elevation changes. Thick rough. Worth the trip to livermore.

Another great golf course in Northern Cal. The greens are perfect. Fairways are immaculate and present a challenging course to negotiate. Lots of elevation changes, not a walking course. Excellent service and the food is good, too. The cost is somewhat prohibitive, especially on weekends, but a great course none the less. I highly recommend a round here.

Caught a 12:40 twilight at a pretty good rate. Showed up early and was told to go when ready. It's very slow even with the golfnow discount rates and daylight savings time. It may be tough at Wente....they lost the PGA tour (Nationwide) and are offering discounted times, but they are still among the premier courses in the bay area. It's a great Greg Norman design and there are few better in the bay area. The course, unfortunately, doesn't drain well and the first cut rough needs cutting, but still a great day. A couple weeks from now it should be very good. Just the same at $65 w/ cart and range balls (plus leftover Nationwide tour pro yardage guides given away) it's a good value.

The weather today- Feb 21st Sat. Amazing day for golf with very little, if any breeze to speak of. I spent the day oblivious to my swing flaws and captivated by the design and beauty of this course. Very well done! Fair in the middle and punishing left and right which is the way golf should be. There IS one hole that does not belong on this course. Hole # 6 is an uphill par four. It seems like it's really just filler for a bit of sloped land they had laying around. The staff, food and threesome i matched up with made the day that much more remarkable. Well done wente! I did manage a couple of bookend birdies. #1 and #18.... a round of 82 left me wanting to get the new season rolling! have fun folks!

I was the late addition to the 10/11 foursome and had a blast on this course! (even with the wasp sting.) From a high HC players perspective, this course is lets say... intimidating! Mountain style course with lots and lots of forced carries off the tee boxes. Once you are on the fairway, most holes don't have a second forced carry.

Conditions and people are fantastic. Great service, they really want you to enjoy your round. Wind was a major factor. Since I live out here, this is normal for us in the summer months in the afternoons - I'm kind of used to it. The course was great. Recovering from maintenance work, but still very, very playable.

Pace of play was not that bad (lost some time to first aid issue), but overall I think resort courses can be a longer round. That way you get to enjoy the scenery more!

Played last Sunday, and it was windy... and the greens were still healing from aeration and sanding. now add that to a mountain course that the nationwide tour use to play on and your in for a long day... upon getting there the staff pampers you with service, carrying your clubs and attending to your every needs, everyone was awsome. the driving range was so cool, new taloymade balls to hit. the practice area was great, the grill has great breakfast, lunch too. PS, the cart girl rocks too...
the course would be hard to walk for sure as it is very hilly with huge elevation changes. the fairways and landing areas are narrow and require good club mgmt for sure. add a 20+ mph wind to this and you have a Trouble with a capital T... the views from almost every hole were spectacular for sure, don't forget your camera. if you have never played here buy a yardage book for sure or have a skycaddie. I couldn't have guessed the yardages as the course makes them seem longer or shorter. if you just play the course and try not to be fancy you should be OK, but cutting corners or trying something you might not normally do will hurt you for the most part. the vineyard line at least 1/2 the holes and look great but will cost you strokes landing them. if you have not played a mountain style course you will be in for a surprise. there are very few fairways that you can be right/left on and get away with playing your shot from. the course is truly a test of ones golf game and the overall experience will last a lifetime, good or bad....lol
this is a must play course for sure if your in the area of livermore,ca. and allow yourself some time to visit the winery too. add some great friends to play golf with and you have a memory that will last a lifetime. Wente Vineyards,

Played Sat 10/11, 1:10 teetime, 5 hr round; played with johnny gk, blue crush, and gbplays10s; nice round; beautiful course; wind was up, varying from 10-25 mph; course is difficult, especially with the wind; greens mostly healed, still a bit shaggy, which saved me a few times on the false fronts; but true and definitely playable, moderate speed; customer service was top notch; would play here all the time if i lived closer.
