Never played Rancho Solano and was very impressed. Played with a friend on Friday 2/12 using Golf Now for $35. Had a 7:00 am tee time and we joined up with a local twosome. Great guys. Teed off right on time and pace of play was 3:45. Early morning dew was prominent but after a couple of holes, it had dried out. This course is top notch! Excellent customer service. We got there about 6:15 and were hoping to get a breakfast snack but were told the restaurant doesn’t open until 7:00. The guy in the restaurant however came out around 6:30 and opened up the restaurant early for us and cooked up a quick meal. Great guy and very nice of him. The starter was also great and got us out on time. Fairways were in great shape. The rain they got recently really has helped. Other than regular divots, we didn’t get a bad lie. The rough was lush and thick. Tough to find your ball if you were in there. Trees came into play as well in the rough. Sand traps had good, fluffy sand. The greens were in great shape; not many divot marks which was great to see. They were fast, rolled true, had huge breaks in them and they are enormous. These are by far the biggest greens I had ever played on in sometime. A lot undulation as well, 3 putts are definitely possible. Some of the tee boxes were a bit ragged but you could see they were working on them. A lot of variety out there; some long and short holes but very generous fairways. There were a couple of holes with narrow landing areas but only a few. A bit hilly with elevation changes. This is a muni but you wouldn’t have guessed it. Beautifully maintained with some very nice homes lining some of the fairways. Weather was great. It was a real pleasure to play this course which elevates your play (Sorry but I have to mention that I had 3 birdies in a row on the back which I have never done. That’s probably the real reason I love this course LOL!). I am playing this course again when I get back up here. Also plan on playing its sister course, Paradise Valley which is just up the highway I am told.

Played Friday morning at 8:00AM. Weather was sunny and clear with a light breeze. Check in was easy, and carts were lined up and ready to use.

Driving range was narrow, had a practice bunker, mats were in good shape. Putting green was nice, fast even though it was shaded and still moist from the dew.

The course was a bit wet, not soaked, but they had definitely run the sprinkler system the night before or early morning. Standing water on the first green at the bottom shelf. This is a hilly course and can understand that it may have irrigation issues.

Greens were fast despite the moisture. Tough pin placements. Lot's of multi-tiered greens with numerous breaks.

pace of play was fast, but we were one of the first groups out. Played in 4hrs with a group that shoots consistent mid 80's and low 90's. Not a lot of danger if you miss the fairway, some water comes into play but nothing crazy.

Course was in overall good shape. Bunkers were nice, fairways were clear, and the rough was thick but ball didn't bury on you.

Played here on a beautiful weekday morning in late March. The course had been aerated about three weeks before, but other than the greens being a little slow, it didn't seem to affect play. The course was actually in very good shape as it usually is. Kudos to the maintenance staff. This is one of the nicest municipal courses I know of. I paid a senior rack rate of $32 to walk. The course is a little hilly, especially the back nine, but walking is manageable if you're in reasonable shape. As most reviewers have noted, the greens are quite large and undulating. Reaching the green in regulation isn't the biggest problem on most holes; it's avoiding a three putt or worse. Try to avoid reaching the front of the green of a blue flagged hole, because you will almost certainly three putt. This is especially true of some of the steeply sloped greens on the back nine, especially #'s 13, 16, and 18.

Played last Sunday using a coupon rate of $35.00. I walked with three riders, pace was Sunday slow of almost 5 hours. Course is a fave of mine with interesting layout, tee box to greens in very good shape with no brown patches that I saw or remember. Cart girl was efficient, courteous and timely. Didn't eat nor drink there but the bar and restaurant was inviting and fairly crowded. Pro shop staff was courteous and professional. Many of the greens were very wide as advertised as the biggest greens in NorCal or maybe it's the Bay Area. Greens picked up pace as the day warmed up. Plenty of water jugs. There were a couple of lakes. Some homes but not too close to the fairways. Pleasant weather now but summer can be brutally hot. Fairways are wide but need to be on with your driver for chance for g.i.r.'s. Nice course but look for deals. Our coupon was a black friday deal found on their official website.

I played on 8/1/2013 for the first time. Green fee's were great, $35 on golfnow at 11 am. The course was in beautiful condition. The greens were smooth and had some speed to them (do not be above the hole here). They are huge and have some above average slopes/humps throughout (dead elephants buried under half of them). Tee boxes were surprisingly good condition (considering the amount of play this place gets). Fairways are wide and in good condition. The wind was tricky, directly into your face off the first tee (1-2 club wind) and off the 2nd, however once in the fairway on the 2nd you cannot feel any wind which really makes the approach a tough club to pick (I picked SW from 78 yds and was shocked to watch it fall out of the air 10 yds short :D). The wind somehow manages to play directly into you off most of the tee's (still scratching my head). The course plays easy until you are on or near the putting surface. The humps and bumps/slopes are really a challenge. I pushed my tee shot on the 2nd par 3 on the front nine and had a 75 footer which had a rise at the pin of 7 feet breaking hard right to left, ouch. I had a chip on the short par 5 from above the hole(did I mention to never be above the hole?) that I had to play 50 degree's away from the pin, die it on a small ridge and let it fall down a gulley, climb another small ridge which was actually past pin high, die at the top of that ridge and fall backwards down the slope towards the pin. I got lucky and hit it perfectly which left me with a 15 footer back uphill. This was a fun course to play. There are two drawbacks for me when rating this course. Pace of play and the driving range. We had a 5-12 min wait on every tee. Took a twosome almost 5 1/2 hrs starting at 11 a.m. on a weekday. I actually wouldn't go back because of this alone. The driving range is very small, runs out at around 220 yards, goes straight uphill and has a weird angle to it. Stalls aim you left of the hitting zone onto a sidehill.

Played a twilight round here on the 26th, Starter was nice said if I wait 15 minutes or so instead of $38 it would be $22 to ride, so I waited. Then I watched as A high school group of walkers,(seven) then a threesome, and a couple twosomes went out then a guy from the cart shack came out and said go ahead and join the guys on the tee or wait more and go whenever you want. There were two guys on the tee that didn't even look at me as they went to their cart and took off to their crappy drives. They had butted in front of a man and his daughter that were essentially their on the tee box before them. The man told me he said they should go ahead of them. I asked to join he and his daughter, he said you go first, so I hit my tee shot and he said just go ahead... I guess she was a beginner and he wanted to help her out.
It was pretty windy that day but I was happy to be out there.
I really enjoyed this course, the greens were huge. Like the other courses in the area they had aerated not long ago, so the green were a little bumpy and slow. The fairways were really nice. The two guys that were bad golfers weren't so nice every time I would drive up to the tee and they had just hit they would just drive off as I sat there and waited for them on every shot. Well they finally had to wait on a tee box, I asked to join them and they said just go ahead and play through. Ok great see ya. The next group a threesome let me play through on the par three fourth and then there was the high schoolers, seven of them all walking and all playing the same hole, with their coach driving a cart, a par five as they all finally hit their second shot, I got to drive my tee ball out there. When I got to my ball they were all off to the side like they were playing a best ball scenario, I thought they were going to let me play through, because I could have hit and they wouldn't even skip a beat, but they did not. As they walked towards the green I just picked up and scooted off to the next tee box. Clear through to the tenth and then a very cool group of three let me join them.
There are some really easy holes on this course, then there are some really hard ones. A par three, must hit driver against the wind almost all carry over water 230 yards, a little bail out room to the left but very narrow. I hit a good drive but faded a little and did not make it over.
I did not see a beverage cart. Gps on the carts. Nice layout, tough in the wind. Very nice course.

First time player at this course, made an hour drive on 2/16/13 for my 12:30 tee time. Course was very busy, pace of play slow, as it was a beautiful February weekend afternoon. The difficulty of this course is in its greens. Most greens are quite large, with several undulations. Greens were quite fast as well.

Had the frustrating experience of putting for eagle and having the ball roll back to my feet after stopping about five feet from the hole. Other than that, I enjoyed the experience. Most par 5s are reachable in two with proper strategy and long tee shots. Course has a lot of risk/reward shots.

Pro shop staff was very helpful, food decent in the bar/restaurant. Green fee paid was $40 with cart for mid-day weekend round. Might return if I am in the area. I feel now that I have played the course once I can shave quite a few strokes off of my score.

Excellent municipal course in the hills north of Fairfield. The back nine is definitely more challenging than the front nine. The greens are huge and very challenging. My score skyrocketed with a couple of FOUR putt greens. Staying below the the hole is imperative, especially on #7, an otherwise relatively easy par 5 where I three putted from 10 feet for a very disappointing bogie. Most greens are elevated from the fairway and require an additional club or two, especially if the wind is blowing. Greens are fast to very fast and undulating. Fairways are beautiful. #11 requires a water carry of about 125 yards to the green, made more difficult if the wind is against you. Course is a great workout if you walk.

Great day on a magnificent presentation with some fine golfers. Our 4 ball teed off at 1100 following many others making the pace around 5 hours; unusual for this track. Tee to green all aspects of course maintenance and presentation was superb. Very lush conditions exist; rough running around 4 inches, fairways lush and not too quick, tees good, sand good at times poor, greens great!! Greens very soft, holding beautifully, but quick, true and smooth; just the way you like it. Layout is engaging enough and challenge good. Staff friendly with good marshaling and good drinks cart passes all day. Carts have GPS. Not bad value on ezlinks at $35. Enjoy.
