It rained hard all week up until yesterday but today it was clear and sunny and the course held up very well. It was wet parts of some fairways but not muddy nor soggy for the most part. Walked the course as it was cart path only even though buggie was included. Greens rolled dry and fairly true. Used coupon for $39.00. Unique holes 9 and 18 make for test of accuracy and distance control. Good course for rainy season.

Played yesterday at good pace. Good condition from box to green. A few slushy spots in the rough but otherwise dry and firm. Greens were medium fast with some bumps but overall in good shape. Tried to eat breakfast at Hallie's but long line so saw Lumberjacks and it was fine. Front nine is on the short side and fairly straight so making pars should be attainable. Back nine gets a bit more interesting with some water. A good deal using golfguide.org.

Played here two Sundays ago at 10:00am for coupon rate of $39.00. Five hour round due to slow foursome two holes ahead. This course is in very good shape from tee box to green. Layout is pretty much wide open style with some water, has length and some style. No drink cart though but the snack bar is quick enough at the turn. Grass range. Friendly starter. This course is good for winter golf because it drains well.

I got to play an afternoon round here on 02/11/12 and I am so glad that I stopped by after my morning round at another North Bay course. I played the course from the Tournament tees at 73.8/136/7001. The North Bay is such great setting for golf and Rooster Run is no exception. Petaluma sits in a valley and from the course you can see the coastal hills, inland hills, and local vineyards. I enjoyed the course because it is forgiving off the tee and even missing the fairway still allows a chance to recover. Plus, for the most part, all of the trouble and out of bound is to the left which is nice since the average right handed golfer slices the ball. The greens are large with big slopes so it could be a long day with the putter if you do not put it in the right spot on the approach shot. The greens were a little bumpy and wiggled a bit when putting, but I am sure come tournament time they could be great. Holes 7 through 9 are some of the longest and toughest consecutive holes that I have played in quite some time, especially into the wind when I played them (460 par 4, 230 par 3, and 606 par 5). The front and back 9 sit on different sides of the road and the back 9 is shorter and requires a little straighter ball, but definitely a place someone could put up a good score if they were playing well. The pace of play was excellent on a Saturday afternoon at 3.5 hours walking (easy walk too) and priced well at a comfortable $33 resident rate. A couple small criticisms would be the noise from the airport close by and that most holes run north and south. In addition the Championship tees at 6464 yards while the Tournament tees are 7001 yards, so I feel a combo set of tees could be used effectively here. Rooster Run is not a destination course, but it was the perfect spot to finish off a 36 hole day.

Haven't been here for a year or so but I'm now wondering why. The course is in very good shape maintenance-wise, staff friendly, did not eat here. Got a great rate by using coupon. I like the layout with a couple of risk reward holes, lakes, creeks and an island green making for some interesting holes. Greens rolled fairly true but not that fast. Solid course to play for all players.

Played this course on 7/7/12. This is a hidden gem in the town of Petaluma. Took advantage of Golf Now discount price of $33 at 3pm. Course is in beautiful condition with mature green fairways and many different green configurations. The wind going toward the clubhouse from the front nine can have adverse affect on ball flight and club selection, in some instances 2 club lengths more. Each hole is different and offers some challenging with many tulli weed obstacles near the greens and near the tee box areas. Course plays about 6400 yards from the blues and and 7000 from the tips. Course is situated on natural habitat surroundings with geese, ducks and jack rabbits migrating the premises. The back nine is extremely beautifully landscaped with small duck ponds and marshlands encompassing the pars. Hole #11 is a scenic par 3 which can be difficult to judge with the strong afternoon winds. The local folk mention to avoid the winds play earlier in the day. I must say it was worth the hour and half drive from the capital city of Sacramento. A definite must play again type course. Not to punishing yet fun and all around golf course experience to be had for the avid and casual golfer. The locals are extremely friendly. Thanks shelbyo for your recommendation of this course.

A very well kept golf course, didn't have a bad lie all day even in the rough. The fairways and greens were in great condition with putts rolling true and speed was neither slow nor fast. Most of the greens slope from back to front so hitting short of the hole makes a good game. There are some flatter spots on some of the greens that are still tricky, but this is the fairest two putt course I've seen in awhile where you get a judge-able 2 foot putt with no tricks. Overall this is flat track with pretty much flat lies. The rough plays easy if you can bring your club down sharply on the back of the ball. It's not a particularly challenging course but has some interesting holes and is a fun course.

We arrived early for our 1152 tee on Tuesday 23 August, and was greeted by kind and knowledgeable staff. Check in easy, good prac/fac which is all grass and we took advantage of it for the warm up. First tee on time, nice starter, and paired up with 2 others (fine gents/good golfers). A sparse tee sheet allowed even the four of us to have a brisk pace finishing in just over 4 hours. Overall, course in GOOD condition. Targeted watering displayed lush conditions tee to green. Good maintenance and manicuring evident on an interesting layout of average challenge (played blues today). Poa greens in good shape, soft and holding, but bumpy-at times smooth. Sand all good, fairways lush-at times thin, drying and fast. No drinks cart today, but enough water stations, and kind marshalers. Worth a look with a deal.
