Played today in a small tournament, teeing off around 10:40. The course is in very good condition, lots of good turf and fast greens. The range and putting green are on the small side, but most everyone was able to practice if they wanted.

Greens were great. Fast and smooth. We had difficulty getting used to the speed today. It was also difficult to get an approach shot to stick. It was challenging.

Fairways were good. Lots of coverage and very few bad lies. Lots of roll out on most shots.

Rough was fairly good. Some sporadic bare areas and some perpetual problems that will never grow in, especially around the many eucalyptus trees. Deep enough in most areas to catch your ball but not too penal.

Bunkers were very good. A couple had standing water but most were nicely groomed with good beach sand.

Tees (we played the Blues) were level except for a few holes on the back. Good grass coverage and not too many divots on the par threes.

Overall I thought the course was in pretty good condition. I have not been here in a while and my recollection of the course was it can be in rough condition at times but not today. Too bad my game wasn’t up to speed. I will recommend playing here.

Played 3/24 off at 11:30. Nice spring day with a bit of a breeze, especially on the back nine. Slow pace, finished in 4:00 even, which is slow for a track this length, but not unexpected.

Course seems to have held up well to a bit of a wet winter, with a handful of standing water or muddy areas but generally firm turf. Fairways and rough were both thick and sometimes tough to see the cut between fairway and rough. Lots of clover, and some tough, deep lies in both fairway and rough as a result. Greens were very slow and probably ready for spring aeration; tricky, but very playable and in really solid shape, all things considered. Tee boxes are generally fine, though you've got to hunt a bit for a level spot in some; fortunately, they set the tee markers up wide and usually it's not too hard to find a decent stance.

Layout is very straightforward, with most of the challenge in the long par 3s and small greens on this executive length track. Hardly any dog legs and almost no elevation change. A handful of greens are well protected by bunkers, but just as many are very accessible. Most holes are tree lined, and they're stacked in tightly, so watch out for folks playing from the wrong fairways. Barely any hazard, with 2-3 ponds interspersed but only in play on a few holes and then just barely.

There is a large range with mats in the hitting stalls that have seen better days; there was a sign in the pro shop saying the grass portion of the range was closed "for the season." One large putting green as well, no short game or other practice area, though the range was reasonably priced.

Given the green fees and the executive layout, course was in solid shape overall. This is a great course for anyone new to the game or getting back into it, someone looking for an early season tune up, once a year golfers, or kids. Very approachable, with almost no dress code. It's nothing to write home about, but golf probably needs more courses like Cordova and I'm glad it's around.

Played yesterday after the rains let up. Minimal standing water on the course but man there are some spots that are hurting. Half of 9's fairway is dirt and GUR.

Relatively slow day because we were behind a group of guys who were clearly playing frat boy golf. Playing from the tips, getting 2-3 beers per hole, flirting with the cart girl, etc. They were playing from the tips and watching them - shouldn't have been past the whites.

Greens were fast. Like super fast. Just in time for them to punch on Tuesday. Fairways were thin but for the most part could take a divot easily. Rough was good. Deep enough to affect you but not overly punishing. Boxes were hit and miss. Played the backs until I caught up with a group in front on 5 and played blues after that. Back were in rough shape but the blues were decent.

Definitely recommend this course but probably not for a few weeks until the green heal.

I did something stupid last week. I was browsing "Deal" times on TeeOff.com and spotted a great $43 rate on a Hidden Valley single for today. Hidden Valley rarely offers "Deal" times for singles, typically restricting them to 2-4 players. I hadn't played there for a long time, and I had $30 in GolfNow rewards expiring soon, so I quickly booked the time. Then as soon as I booked it, it hit me – "Oh no, I didn't check GK!"

Sure enough, they had just aerated a day or two earlier. D'oh! At least it would be about 10 days after the aeration. I considered canceling, but I wasn't sure if I'd get my rewards back, so I just rolled with it. (And ironically, I putted great with only 28 putts. Maybe I should start using GK to find recently aerated courses to play. ;-))

Anyway, onto today. Tee time was 12:30 but for some reason the starter had me down for 12:40. Paired with two nice singles and one guy's wife rode with him but didn't play. Beautiful day but sorta hazy. POP was decent at just a few minutes more than 4:30.

Conditions-wise, things are quite good other than the greens. Driving in, the course looked gorgeous. Fairways and rough are very green and lush, although once you get on top of things, there are some problem spots here and there. To the course's credit, they've done a good job of marking areas as GUR. The greens were slow and bumpy but like I said earlier, they didn't give me many problems. They still need a couple weeks before getting partway back to normal. (The greens on the course were thankfully much better than the practice green, where putts practically had rooster tails of sand flying up.) Many bunkers look all dried out but the one I was in was acceptable. Blue tee boxes were fine.

I hadn't played here since 2016 and I have no idea why I've waited so long. It's such a fun, exciting layout and almost every hole is beautiful and interesting. I can't recommend it right now but give the greens a couple more weeks to heal, and then it's highly recommended.

(FYI for ratings purposes, I gave the greens a 5.)

The best group of starters, marshals, pro shop employees, and restaurant staff. Both golf courses are great too- fast greens. I play at least 2-3 times a week and always impressed.

Played Wed 3/20 830 time, 4:15 round. Pleasant day. Punching soon. Greens running fast, slow 11 i think. Quite a few ball marks. Divots everywhere. It's like, what's the point of filling my divot, there's 7 around me. But other than golfer maintenance negligence, course in decent muni shape. Good track. Very playable. Dried out from the rains. Had a good time.

Played this morning. We had an 8:45 time and we had a POP of 4 H. And we thank the marshal who was out moving people along. Found the course in great condition. All good tee boxes. Traps were all playable. Fairways were clean provided good lies and decent roll out. Rough was there but it was playable. Greens were in really nice shape. Devoid of divots (great) and were firm and had good speed all round. Sr price of $40 with cart and $24 if you want to walk. New pro shop and restaurant now open available. Customer service great at all levels. Recommended.

Played Whittier Narrows yesterday at 9:30 am and was pleasantly surprised with conditions.

Given all the courses punching greens, I went to my 4th option on my list in San Gabriel Valley.

Course has lots of seniors playing because of discount LA County card. The two gentlemen we played with were beginners but very pleasant and keep up with POP. We finished in 4 hrs 15 minutes.

Looks like several homeless encampments that line the East end of the course on a couple of holes on the front 9. Just keep an eye on your belongings.

The greens were pretty nice here, smooth and running fairly quick at 9.5. Fairways had plenty of coverage, but rough was brutally long and grown out. It use to be super hard to lose a ball here, but I lost a few just because I couldn't find it in the long rough. Tee boxes were unlevel, but sand traps were well maintained. Bathrooms look to have been recently upgraded. Course has a lot of bumps like Marshall Canyon which makes for a suspension shock in your golf cart and your body. Starter was pleasant and snack shop had lots of good food options. Course plays very long from the blue tees so choose your tees wisely. Will not wait 5 years to return.

Lucky enough to be able to enjoy a spring morning on one of my favorite walking courses. Last review is right on the money, but I thought the greens were better than expected. Fairways are excellent. Staff as always was great and as this course remains one of the better value courses, I highly recommend it

Out today, 3/19, as a threesome teeing off round 1:40 and playing the whites. Course was in all around good shape. Teeing grounds had no issues, the fairways are tight but fine for play unless you are a heavy divot striker. With very tight chipping from the fairway, I opted for putter as often as possible. Rollout is commensurate with the fairway firmness. By contrast the rough is grown in to a good, playable length — occasionally a bit deeper and thicker. It's not one of those paces with minimal difference between fairway and rough. I missed the bunkers but they seemed clean and my partners had mixed results. The greens were clean, a nice quick pace, and the surrounding areas a good length for short game.

Nice day on the warmish side, the pace was slow and we got around in just about five hours even. That was probably the only conspicuous negative and otherwise we all enjoyed the course and the round. No cart service but good options at the turn and a nicer than usual clubhouse bar. Recommended.

Played today. Course has dried out nicely. Maintenance has the place really clean. Tee boxes are all playable. Traps need some turning for better contact. Fairways are clean playable and good rollout. Rough is manageable. Greens are great but a little firm. Nice and fast.Great customer service.

Played and enjoyed this course a ton, as you all know this time of year is aeration time. Love this website for notifications on Maintenence alerts but I always check the local websites to confirm. So well pissed off today to find out Lakewood CC had aerated the greens. Nothing on their website Nothing about it when I checked in and paid full price for my round today. When I asked the starter about it he says"I dunno". So sick of this crap. I avoid aerated courses like the plague as my favorite part of the game is chipping and putting, so when you've hit a green in reg and you dont know whether the ball is going to skeech to a halt or hydroplane on the sand it s pretty infuriating. Come on Lakewood, cut this s@*t out
