Played Sunbrook Sunday after returning to St. George from playing Wolf Creek. We were glutens for punishment since the temperature was 104 degrees. But it was worth it!

Upon arriving we went into the club house the staff was very friendly helpful and efficient. The price was great between the green fees and a sleeve of ProV1s cost was $42 with afternoon rate. We got our carts loaded and headed to the first tee of the Black Rock nine. Sunbrook has three sets of nine each different. Black Rock has black lava rock that can come into play on the majority of its nine holes. We then played The Pointe for our second nine. The Pointe is far hillier with water coming into play on numerous holes. The 8th and 9th OC The Pointe are great finishing holes a par 5 with water between your drive and second shot and along the full left side of the green on your approach shot. The 9th is a medium long all uphill par 3 with a medium size green and lots of undulations.

The conditions for both nines were very good, green and lush. The sand traps were red lava sand which my friend said were fair to hit out of with a solid stroke. The rough was mostly lush with a few areas under repair, the tee boxes had been punched in the last month
and needed some work, they were level and were on their way back.

Once again a very fun course well worth the price, and a consistent POP at 3:45 for the round. Recommend playing Sunbrook if you visit St. George.

Played the Green Spring GC today with an 11:00am tee time. Arrived and went into the club house to check in, staff were friendly and helpful informed us the driving range was under maintenance but the chipping and putting greens were available and in great shape. The starter called us up a few minutes early, POP was under 3 1/2 hours with a 98 degree temperature at the start. Fee was $28 senior rate and well worth the price!

The tee boxes fairways rough and greens were in amazing shape considering the heavy use and high temperatures. All were lush, soft and very green, the sand traps were well maintained with rakes and fair to hit out of. There were two greens that had small bare spots but were being attended to.

The front nine has more difficulty, particularly holes 5 & 6, but very fun with the ravine in play, especially with a front pin position like today on the par 3. The par 5 6th hole is reachable in two with a solid second shot! Both holes were beautiful and fun. The back nine has more elevation changes with numerous holes having water in play and a ravine that comes into play.

Overall a great deal and very enjoyable course, I recommend it if you’re in St. George!

Played Wolf Creek Sunday with an 8:10 start time. Staff greeted us at the truck with our carts, gave us a lot of helpful information and super friendly. Checked in and the staff again super friendly efficient and we went to the all grass driving range and putting/chipping green, were well maintained and supplied with range balls.

Started right on time the starter took our picture, very friendly guy who told us about maintenance going on and to take our time and enjoy the round. The heavy use this course gets and the high temps weighed heavy on the tee boxes though you could tell they work hard to keep them in good shape. Fairways and rough were lush with a few thin areas, sand traps were firm but with a solid stroke definitely playable. The greens were in great shape considering the heavy use and high temperatures. They were smooth with a few bumpy areas on one or two and rolled fast to medium fast with a lot of undulations.

The layout was spectacular with amazing views water features and of course the bluffs and red rock. Very fun and enjoyable course with many challenging holes. Would recommend playing this course. Plan on playing it again! The price was $110, dropping to $100 in a week. Well worth the price.

Played Sunbrook later in the afternoon after returning to St George. Will be dropping that review in later off to play Green Spring.

Played Southgate with a noon tee time. Temp was 94 ended the round at 99, not bad but had to hydrate. Staff were excellent and friendly teed off a few minutes early. Cost was great, 56 with a cart, bottles of water a gaterade and a sleeve of Pro V1s.

Starter was friendly and helpful. The one issue was the tee boxes, looked like they were placing temporary grass over badly damaged areas, but heat was hindering. Most boxes were level but at least six I had to stand outside the box due to the in-levelness.

The fairways and rough were lush with a few thin areas. The sand traps were in good condition, ended in two. The greens were fast to medium fast, I repaired at least two up to four divots most greens. But previous divot damage was repaired from the day before. The front nine had tree lined fairways and many had water that came into play, the layout was fun but offered challenges and forced proper club selection from the tees. The back nine was laid out in the surrounding foothills offering a complete different layout. Both were very enjoyable and challenging. Hoping they improve the tee boxes, at least the white boxes where we played from.

Would recommend playing Southgate, had a very fun round. Playing Wolf Creek in Mesquite Nevada tomorrow!

Played Desert Canyon Friday, June 25th with a tee time of 10:04, played the white tees today. POP was 3:50 in 94 degree heat.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The tee boxes had multiple boxes with heavy divot damage and a few were not level without standing outside the box with the ball inside. Fairways rough and sand traps were in very good condition, the greens were smooth but each hole repaired at least 2 - 3 ball marks. The greens had many ball mark repairs with bare spots which were bumpy. The greens rolled fast 7/10 pace when there were no bumps.

Overall a very enjoyable day playing the tree lined front nine and the desert and canyon back nine.

Heading to St George Utah to play five courses there this week! More reviews coming!

Played Shadow Valley today with a tee time of 10:40. Practice facilities are in great shape with grass driving range, multiple putting and chipping greens with sand trap available for practice. Staff were friendly and helpful got our threesome off at 10:30. A few tee boxes, played from the whites today, had some divot damage but did not affect ability to find a good spot to tee from. Fairways were in very good shape only a few divots but soft and rolled well. Rough was lush but a firm stroke gets you out. The sand traps were soft and deep per my two playing partners attested to. The greens rolled smooth and fast to medium fast. Very few greens are flat with multiple undulations, but the pace was most important. The course had ice chests with cold water bottles available on four or five holes, a nice touch for an 88 degree day!

Overall a great day golfing, it helped that I had my best score for Shadow Valley!

Played River Birch this morning with a tee time of 9:12am. Staff were friendly and helpful got us off at 9:09. POP was 3:45 even with a slow group ahead. The Marshall was very friendly and helpful to get the 4some to let our 3some jump ahead. We finished 3 holes ahead of the 4some.

Course conditions were good with some sanding and punching on 6 of the fairways.greens rolled a little slow early on but sped up as the round went on. Overall a great round of golf. My game is becoming more consistent with more play and practice.

Played Quail Hollow Thursday, May 14th. Another beautiful course that was laid out along the contours of the Boise foothills with some spectacular views. Had a 10:30 tee time, went out on time. Staff were friendly and helpful the Marshalls along the course were friendly and helpful answering questions. The POP play was good, finished in 3:50 minutes.

The course is beautiful but you have to think through many tee shots on the shorter par fours sometimes best to pull out a five iron to a hybrid due to the severe doglegs and other potential hazards. Made for a very enjoyable round with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and downtown Boise. There were some severe elevation changes adding to the challenges! The only issue was the sand traps, was in three one very deep and soft the other two had heavy wetness and hard so had to play those thin. Other then the sand course was in great shape.

The pictures are of the 2nd par 3, 4th a par 3, from the 6th tee box and from the very elevated 18th tee box which for big hitters ha the pond with a marsh anywhere right and in front of the green.

Plan on playing this course again, excellent condition and well worth the price!

Played in a local college fund raising scramble Wednesday, May 12th at Shadow Valley Golf Club. Beautiful course laid out along the contours of the Boise foothills. Course was in very good condition teed off at 9:50, POP was still 3 hours 45 minutes. Love how the course flows with the contours of the foothills with some solid elevation changes. Majority of the fairways were tree lined though some gave generous landing areas. The tee boxes were in very good to excellent condition fairways were in very good condition with some lush rough that was playable with solid strokes. Being a scramble we never needed to play out of the sand but it was soft and fairly deep. The greens were tough to read but rolled true with many undulations so you need to think through your approach shots.

The staff were friendly and efficient and answered any questions we had. Overall, truly enjoyed the course and will definitely play it again!

Played River Birch Tuesday, 4/19/21, tee time of 10:55am. Temperature ranged from start of 55-64 at end of round. Wind was the major factor that day, windy at 10-12 miles per hour with gusts up to 23 miles per hour. The staff gave excellent efficient service and we teed off a couple minutes early. Walking the course was great just windy.

Course conditions are great, the tee boxes, fairways and greens are in very good condition and the sand traps looked in excellent shape with rakes and were kept raked by players. Played a decent round and though windy totally enjoyed playing the course!

Played River Birch Golf Course today, 3/22/21. Tee time of 10:40, weather was cold, with light rain at times snow melting on contact, temperatures ranged from 35 at tee time up to 43 degrees. Layered up and good to go. Played the blue tees which worked out fine, POP was 3 3/4 hrs, had a good round.

Course conditions have improved making the round even more enjoyable. Greens rolled fairly smoothly with a few bumps, the fairways seem more lush and rolled well even with the rain. There was no puddling anywhere, traps appeared firm, but was never in any.

Cannot wait to play again,
Don

Played Lakeview Golf Club today, 3/19/2021, played a little better the second time. Walked the course with a tee time of 11:25, POP was 3 1/3 with very light rain off and on through 1st 12 holes. There was a foursome teeing off after me, saw them approaching the second tee box, did not see them again.

The course conditions were very similar other then a little wet, had no puddling of water with less roll in the fairways and the greens held better and rolled a little slower, more medium pace. The one down fall was the traps which were fairly hard but had no puddling of water.

Enjoyed the walk and play. Plan on playing again in a couple weeks.
