Drove by this course. Everything is brown and dead except the greens. Noticed staff watering the greens. Don’t waste your time or money here

Got paired with 3 locals that helped with many tee shots. Shorter course but fun and challenging. Great views with tough undulating greens. No driving range but you can hit into a net. Temp green on 10.

First and last time I’ll play this course. Course were good and a little challenging. Greens were on the slower side fairways could be better with no rough. Traps had good sand. Pace of play was painfully slow. No marshal although when I spoke to the pro shop afterwards they said they had a marshal. Cart person only on weekends. Resort and course look a little beaten down

Was the 4th group out yesterday, unfortunately the 2nd group was up to 2 holes behind by the 9th. The marshall spoke with them but had no effect. course was in descent shape and greens ran fairly smooth. many areas of the course have been over watered, with ponds developing in low areas. sand traps were basically mud pits. SCGA wants to save the munis, for what some of the munis charge for the poor conditions and fair customer service maybe we should close lesser performing courses. as for river ridge, please contact Oxnard City Council and ask that they do not renew American Golf's contract

Haven’t played here in several years but what great condition the course was in. Fairways and rough very green and lush. Greens firm and running fast with several run offs on most greens. Was not in any traps but they are working on many of them and marked GUR. Great customer service no cart person although they provide complementary bottled water. If you get the chance to play this course I highly recommend it.

Best conditions I’ve seen in years. It appears they’ve been watering as tee boxes and fairways were lush and green. Greens were firm and fast but a little bumpy as they punched a few weeks ago. Little to no rough so ball will run into desert area. Nice short game area with large putting green. Good customer service no cart person. Pro shop did sell drinks.

What use to be the premier course in Ventura County has become a victim of American Golf. Please contact Oxnard city council and request not to renew American Golf's contract. This course keeps getting worse. The course is getting play, but the money is not going into maintaining the course. Poorly maintain course conditions and the slowest, bumpiest greens around. They apparently rolled the greens prior to our tournament Sunday and they were still bumpy and slow. Traps had hard pack to no sand. Good challenge and great customer service, if only American Golf would hire staff and put money into the course instead of lining their pockets

bought a time from golf now for 11:20. arrived at 10:45 and the starter (Ethan) told me i was too early to check in. came back at 11:00 and finally at 11:10 he checked me in. Ethan must be related to management or a council person because he has no business interacting with customers as he has no customer service skills. no one had teed off while i was waiting, than we had three groups on the first tee (we being third). a threesome, a foursome and our threesome. the two groups in front of us had no concept of golf etiquette. the foursome became a threesome because the single that joined them was fed up before he reached the first hole. we were able to get by this group, due to them forgetting clubs on the first hole. we arrived at the sixth hole with the now foursome just leaving the tee box, but would not allow us to play through (no marshals on the course). by the ninth hole we decided to bypass the hole and we saw no one the rest of the round.
as for the course, this is a target course as there is little need for a driver. tee boxes weren't in the best of shape, especially #16 as it was all dirt. fairway were pretty good, some unfilled divots and wet areas. greens were soft with nearly all greens having unrepaired divots. traps were terrible from have no sand, a lot of rocks or water run off damage.
i hadn't played this course in about seven years and don't plan on returning.
good luck if you choose to play this course

three weeks into a three year contract and American golf has worked their magic. taking a course with great conditions and destroying it. what was once smooth greens running around 11 are now slow, bumpy and damaged greens. both courses are becoming similar to little saticoy and vista valencia, maybe that's because the new GM ran both of those courses before taking over river ridge. i hope this is not a view of things to come with these courses

course is in very nice shape. tee boxes are a little shaggy and traps are inconsistent (some have new sand others have grainy hard pack). customer service was excellent and the cart girl came around 3 times. as this course has no marshals pace of play is an issue. they allow fivesomes and sometimes sixsomes. we played behind a foursome and twosome that didn't understand golf etiquette and made for a very slow day.

Course is in good shape, only exception in there is no sand in the traps - basically mud pits. fun with some challenge, but for $65 with breakfast and lunch on a weekend during their peak season great deal

Played 9-22 at 10:00. kikuya fairways with very little rough. traps were mostly mud greens ran smooth but slow. quirky layout with many run off areas if you hit through the fairways. lots of oak trees worth the green fee
