I played the lakes course today 8/30/17. Let me preface this review with this. The course was about to start overseeding in a day or two.

Three course was in terrible shape. The fairways were burnt and thin, the greens were dried out and beat up, and the rough was long and full of clover and crab grass. It seemed the maintenance crew took a vacation before the over seeding. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. I checked before I went. Just didn't know they were letting go so bad.

This was my first time at this course and so I had no expectations coming in.

My first impression as I exited the pro shop was WOW! The 9th and 18th greens were just to the right and they were incredibly picturesque. The putting green was in great shape and the greens were rolling true. The speed was medium/fast.

I looked on the card and the whites played to a slope of 120 at around 5700 yards while the blacks were a little over 6200 yards but a jump to 137 on the slope. It didn't seem to make since, but I opted for the Blacks. I quickly understood the difference as the blacks were set back enough to make all trouble and narrow areas of the fairways come into play.

The tee boxes were narrow and well used, with many areas of divot damage. Some were not level.

The fairways were in great shape and were very lush. The rough was great as well, full and about 3 inches.

The bunkers were full of fresh sand and well maintained. Although I didn't spend much time in the bunkers, when I did I felt they were exceptional.

The greens were small and well maintained. Many undulations in the greens and they were rolling true and consistent. The speed was medium/fast. Ball mark damage was a little more then what I would expect. (Come on people fix your divots!)

The beverage/snack cart was first seen on hole 10 and I believe we saw it twice more. Prices were a little bit higher then average.

I booked this tee time on GolfNow and received a really good deal.

I found it difficult from the blacks and the trouble from the tees coupled with the small greens made for a tough round. But seeing that I usually play at or just above 6000 yards I opted for the Blacks but next time my game might be more suited for the whites. I play to a 9 handicap but I'm in my mid fifties and don't hit the ball as far as I used to. Next time I will know.

This was a great experience and I mentioned above I had never played here and had no expectations. I would certainly return and look forward to that time.

I played the Lexinton Revere course on Thursday February 16th at 8AM. I have played this course a number of times and it is a very difficult shot making course. I deided to take it easy on myself and played the Silver tees that have a slope of 119 as opposed to the Gold tees which have a slope of 133.

The weather was beautiful and just a very slight breeze.

The Range and practice facilities are very nice and well maintained with a great short game green and a large putting green. My only complaint is that the driving range is elevated tees and you hit down to a deep landing area. I prefer to hit to a level landing area to jugde the distance of my shots without having to factor in elevation.

The tee boxes were mostly level and divot damage was significant. Probably from heavy play.

The fairways were amazing and so lush from the recent rains and mild temps. There are mostly generous landing spots although there are a number of holes where accuracy is a premium and driver is not the best option.

The greens were midsize to large and were in great shape as well. For as much play as this course gets I would expect a lot of divot damage but that was not the case. I probably fixed three to four ball marks on each hole.

I really like the layout of this course as it winds up and down the canyons of anthem hills. The views of the Las Vegas strip are amazing as well as across the valley to Mt Charelston.

The beverage/snack cart came around about every 4 to 5 holes. With prices that were reasonable.

Overall a good experience. I will be back.

Day two of GK Guru outing.

There is not much I can add to the reviews from other gurus, but I will add my personal impressions .

This course is a high end treat. If you come to be blown away by the course you will probably be disappointed. Don't get me wrong the course is great but that is not why you want to come here and you can golf similar courses in the area that are much easier on the wallet. The treat is the facilities, the staff, and the experience of being treated like a high roller. They have customer service tweaked to perfection. In particular the buzzer to get in the private gate, valet greets you and claims your keys and your clubs and hands you over to an escort that takes you to your private locker with removable name tag to take home as a souvenir. This locker room comes equipped with all kinds of personal hygiene items as well as a generous enough supply of mandatory sunscreen. You are then treated to muffins and beverages in the proshop or you can enjoy some excellent food in the restaurant.

When you are ready you go down the spiral staircase past the river with waterfall that rushes through the clubhouse to your cart and to meet your caddie. Then you drive out of the clubhouse trough the doors that remind you of a Disneyland ride. Out the doors you are greeted with a beautiful large putting green with emmaculent conditions, onto the driving range with high quality range balls. Both are devided by the aforementioned river that continues onto the clubhouse.

I've read a couple of reviews that differ on the experience of a forecaddie. I have had experiences with caddies before and it is an aquired luxury. The first couple times you have one it is a learning experience on what he will do for you and what you want him to do or not to do for you. Our group had Dan with us and I thoroughly enjoyed the benefits he provided. I don't need a caddie to tell me what club to hit, but I sure appreciate the course knowledge he can provide. For instance how far to the hole and what does it play as most of our shots were elevated up or down. Also since many of the greens were elevated and you couldn't see the backside, I would often ask Dan is the trouble behind the green? How much room is there behind the green? Also as was mentioned in another post the conditions were soft and wet with mud on the ball almost always on the greens. As Dan came to give me the read on the putt I would hand him my ball to clean it. Because there was one caddie for four people it was understandable that your clubs would not be cleaned after each use, but if you wanted your club cleaned you just needed to hand it to him. Dan has been a caddie at Castcata for 13 years and it showed. He often told me my line on a putt was two to three times more break then what I was reading. He was always correct and his reads saved me at least three strokes as I would have under read the break and over hit the pace. Second hole he gave me a read on a 30 foot par putt that found the center of the cup. I enjoyed my caddie experience but understand how some wouldn't.

This is a bucket list course and I would highly recommend it. I wish the water features on the back nine were functioning but overall it was well worth the deal that we were afforded. Thank you GK for the wonderful two days of social interaction with like minded golfers and for the great deal on two fantastic courses.

I too joined in on the GK guru outing in Vegas, which was really in Henderson on day one and Boulder City the second day. I played with JohnnyGK, Matt, and Rob. A great foursome to be a part of and I really enjoyed the personal long drive contest Johnny and Matt had going.

Rio Secco is a course I play frequently as it is 10 minutes from home for me. I was a little disappointed that my fellow GKr's had to experience it in this pre maintenance condition at the end of a hot summer. That being said my comments come from knowing what this course is like most of the rest of the year. This is a favorite local course for me.

The conditions I speak of were some bare spots in the fairways and some areas of GUR. The greens were slow but looked fast. This caused many putts to be left short and 3 putts a plenty.

Tee boxes were in mostly good shape and the bunkers were Vegas style firm and sun baked, but were not so bad that you couldn't get a club under your ball. The rough was punishing. If you found yourself there you were left with a very challenging out and at least for me difficulty getting to the green. Tip, stay in the fairway.

The course is visually appealing and has many photo ops of the Vegas strip on a normal day. But because of the smoke from the Blue Cut fire we left lacking a view.

The course staff was very pleasant and accommodating. As mentioned before we were treated to a bounce back certificate for %25 off a future date for a foursome. This was a welcome surprise and it is good through December 2017. I know this course in better conditions and yet I really enjoyed the day and the service from the staff. I will be back and recommend this course to all.

Oh, I almost forgot but they have one of the best prime rib sandwiches I have every had anywhere. Even though I didn't eat there this day, take it from me, it is awesome.

I booked this tee time on Golfnow.com and got a real good deal early in the morning. Second group off August 11th. This is a semi private course that offers limited outside play. They have three nines. We played the Lakes/sunrise combination.

This place has a country club feel and I've actually spoken with a previous member who left because they opened play to outsiders. The staff were very friendly and attended to our clubs from parking lot at arrival to parking lot at departure. Range balls were included and the range was nice but we were hitting of mats which I do not like.

The course is located in a very posh neighborhood and you are routed around and through many large expensive homes. Nice to look at.

The tee boxes were level and well kept. Very little divot damage. The course is long and the slope/rating was 71.2/136 from the whites! So we were hitting long irons/hybrids into many greens.

The rough was ragged and thick so you definitely wanted to be in the fairway. When you were in the fairway it was like carpet. Very well maintained.

The greens were in great shape with just a little bit of pitch mark damage. No bare spots and were very true with moderate speed. There were some greens that were very large and required you to be on the correct level to score well.

The sand was awesome. I say that tongue in cheek as I was in the sand often. But it was soft and deep and very consistent.

I would play this course again and recommend it to others. If you have a chance to play here go for it, you will enjoy it and the challenge is real.

Cart girl came around 3 times in 18 holes. I appreciate that as some Vegas courses don't provide a beverage service until around 10am. There were no water stations on the course but each cart had two coolers with two bottles of water in them.

I played the Wildfire Faldo course to kick off a three day golf buddies trip. The course was closing the next day for seasonal overseeing of the fairways. We booked an afternoon round as we arrived in town just an hour before.

This course and its companion course (Palmer) are true resort desert courses. Not a lot of trouble off the tees with mostly wide open fairways. If you can keep it in the fairway you should score well.

The tee boxes were in great shape with no visible damage and level teeing areas.

As mentioned before the fairways were generous and in great shape. Even though they were about to overseed there was no evidence of thinning or bare spots.

The rough was less then an inch thick and no penalty. At times you wished it was thicker to keep your ball from advancing into the desert.

The sand was soft and playable. Above average.

The greens were large and held approach shots well. My biggest complaint is a matter of preference, they are Bermuda greens. I dislike Bermuda greens. I know they are a product of the temperatures and are very heat tolerant. But they tend to be slow and bumpy. That was the case here as well. It was hard to keep a putt online and put enough pace on a putt to get to the hole without it hopping all around.

We arrived late in the afternoon (3:00pm) so there was no beverage cart. But there was water on about every 3rd hole.

The gentleman at the proshop counter was very friendly and helpful. I wanted to tryout a demo fairway wood but he said that the proshop would be closed by the time we were finished and so he couldn't let the club out. I suggested returning it as we made the turn after 9 and he was very willing to make that happen. He was eager to help us get out ahead of our scheduled tee time as we arrived early.

We didn't eat or drink in the bar or grill so no review on that. But the facilities looked clean and inviting.

This was a fun course that was not difficult and scoring was there for the taking. It was a great place to start our trip.

As a side note we stayed at the Marriott Canyon Villas which are onsite of these two courses and they were fantastic and beyond our expectations. They were also centrally located to all of the good golf in Scottsdale/Phoenix.

I played Arroyo Golf Club at Red Rock on Thursday the 28th of July. We had a 5:50am tee time to beat the heat.

We were greeted in the parking lot by a very friendly bag attendant and he got our clubs all setup on the carts as we went into checkin in the pro shop. Again another smiling face greeted us at the counter. We were cutting it close on our arrival so they sent us right out to the 1st tee.

I will preface this review with this statement. This course just fits my eye, and I really love the atmosphere and feel of this establishment. It has the feel of a private club and everything has the feel of upscale. We are locals and have the players card that they offer. It is an amazing deal if you are a Clark county resident.

We found ourselves on the manicured tee boxes right at 5:50 and on our way. The tee boxes were lush and level. The fairways were in great shape and extreamly lush. Of course they had watered heavily in the early morning hours so the course was wet. But that's golf in the HOT Southwest.

The greens were very well maintained, rolled true and were slightly on the slow side due to the morning water. Very minimal pitch mark damage. These greens are on the larger size but don't have much contour or mounding.

The bunkers are in very good shape and full of sand. The early morning watering again made the course play different as the sand was wet and heavy. But still very fair.

I highly recommend this course. If you are in the Vegas area I would have this near the top of my must play courses.

I played Mountain Dell Canyons course on Tuesday July 26th. We had a 9:30 tee time and we were on the tee box on time. I don't usually carry my bag but I met an old friend who was carrying his bag so I joined him. This turned out to be a strenuous test because of the elevation change, but it was very enjoyable especially with the fresh mountain air.

It was a very warm day with threats of thunderstorms.

The tee boxes on the course were a little worn but you could always find a healthy spot to tee it up. I will say there were multiple tee boxes where it was difficult to find a level spot to stand.

The greens were well maintained and in good shape. The ball rolled well and true. You had to remind yourself that even though a putt looked up or downhill they were going to be affected by the direction of the canyon.

The fairways were in great shape and showed no signs of wear from the recent heat wave. The rough was about an inch deep and not much of a factor. You certainly wanted to be accurate off the tee as most of the holes were lined with trees or bushes. Again not many level lies to be found.

This is a local government run course but it was well run and the staff was efficient and friendly.

I enjoyed this round and we were treated with some visitors on the 8th and 9th holes. A mother moose and her twins were enjoying the leaves of the fairway lined trees. I pulled my drive into the tree line and ended up about 10 feet away from them. We patiently waited for them to meander off before playing on. What a treat that was.

Our pace of play was just under 4 hours.

I enjoyed this course and found it worth the green fees and I will return if in the area.

I played TPC Las Vegas on Thursday the 21st of July. We were following a junior golf tournament so the going was painfully slow on the front nine. (Those juniors need some coaching on ready golf.) But they finished at the turn and it was wide open on the back nine.

The temp was at 109 degrees and we were feeling the burn. But the course had adequate water and ice available. It was refreshing. There was no beverage cart though. I'm sure that was because of the junior tournament that took the whole morning.

The staff was very friendly and genuinely seemed pleased that we had joined them. I was impressed. This course has a tremendous practice facility. If you have time show up early and take advantage of this feature.

Course condition:
The tee boxes were all level and well maintained. They were plush and full and there were many options for a variety of levels of golfers.

The fairways were in fantastic shape and there were some brown spots but they were not thin and did not affect the shot. The fairways were mostly level as well. If you hit the fairway from off the tee you were rewarded. The rough was short and was not a penalty if you found it. Probably a half to one inch.

The greens were in great shape and were fast. They rolled true but it was difficult to get a shot to hold on the green. Most approaches had to be well short of the pin or risk rolling off. Very minimal pitch mark damage.

The bunkers were well kept and had plenty of sand. If you happened to find the sand you could expect a fluffy lie or in worst case a fried egg. But hey it is a hazard!

I liked the whole look of this traditional desert golf course. There were canyons running throughout the course and a desert boundary on most holes. It was gorgeous.

Another great day on a Vegas golf course. I would highly recommend this course.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

I played Anthem Revere Golf Club (Lexington) on a late afternoon resident rate at 4pm. It was a great deal and I appreciate the course offering these bargins.

Let me start out by saying is was 109 degrees at tee off and didn't seem to let up before we finished at 7:45. The pace was good even though there were many still on the course.

Course condition:
The tee boxes were mostly level and well maintained. They had a normal amount of wear and tear but were full and there were many options for a variety of levels of golfers.

The fairways were in fantastic shape and there were no brown or bare spots to be seen anywhere on the course. If you found the fairway you were rewarded.

The rough was about an inch to an inch and a half deep and if your ball sat down in it, it was a difficult recovery. I thought it was fair and wished I spent less time in it. It was consistent throughout the course.

The greens were a bit beat up by the amount of play the course obviously gets. I really wish golfers educated themselves on the correct way to repair a green divot, as this could be a major problem on golf courses. I felt Revere Management was making an a great effort to keep up with it but it was a noticeable problem that I seemed to be putting through someones poorly fixed, or never fixed divot often. The greens did roll true and the speed was slightly on the slow side. I usually play in the mornings after the greens are freshly cut so that may have had something to do with it, as well as the constant watering for the heat. There were not to many greens that had huge undulations or levels that cost you if you were on the wrong one. For the most part the worst you were faced with was a long putt as many of the greens were large.

The bunkers were well kept and had plenty of sand that was often moist from watering but was not hard or compact. I only hit one trap all day but my playing partner was in them a couple of times and I noticed that he was not having issues with poorly maintained bunkers.

I would consider this course a bit of target golf. You really want to think about what club off the tee not just automatically reach for the big dog. Strategy is involved in each shot. There are short par 5's but usually you had to lay up or consider carrying a hazard to reach in two. I don't hit it as long as I used to so I was often trying to avoid a hazard in the landing zone off the tee. There are good site lines and I only recall one blind shot. The tee shot on number 10 is a drop off and you can not see the fairway from the tee box. If you have time and won't slow up play, you should drive up about a hundred yards to look at the landing area before hitting.

Overall this was a great day on the golf course. My biggest complaint was that there is no drinking water on the course. They do give you each one bottle of water in the cooler at the start. But this is not enough! I really feel this is irresponsible of the course. They should put at least three waters in the cooler per golfer and have more available at the 10th tee box as returning to the clubhouse to get more is a detour that would impact the pace of play. I don't know why they don't have water coolers on every two to three holes. IT's VEGAS in the Summer! I always bring a water bottle in my bag but there was nowhere to fill it up on the course except for one comfort station that had a water fountain between hole 13 and 14.
Because it was so late in the day the beverage cart had quit making runs before we even teed off.

I didn't sample any of the food or beverage in the club house on this trip but have in the past and have found the food to be very good but somewhat expensive. But the accommodations and views of the the strip from the restaurant are amazing.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

I played the Concord course today. Tee time was at noon. The sister course (Lexington) was having the greens aerated today. The course was not crowded at all. I went off as a single and the pace was great all day. I caught another single who wanted me to play through, then a five some, which I'm totally good with on a slow day and if they are paying attention to pace or faster golfers. They saw me drive while they were on the green and I was ready to hit my approach as they cleared the green. They waited for me on the next tee and away I went. That's how it's done, Thanks Guys! Caught and passed another foursome on number 11 and it was smooth sailing the rest of the way. Finished 18 in a little over 2 hours.

The course was in excellent shape. Tee boxes were well maintained and level, with very few marked hitting areas. Fairways were lush and full. The rough was cut short and of little penalty. The greens were in great shape and someone was really paying attention to the ball marks. Great job greens keepers and regulars who play there. The greens have recovered nicely from aeration about a month ago. They were not super fast and were not slow. I don't know how to guess the stimp meter but if I had too I would say about 10. The bunkers were better then average but some had been baked in the hot sun and were very firm. But I had no issue getting a club through the sand. I have noticed some courses in the off season in Vegas will get lax on the care of bunkers and greens, plus the ball washers are empty of water. Not the case here at Revere at Anthem Concord. The ball washers were full of water and the mantinance was great. I really enjoyed the round. I was treated well by the staff and was given a couple of options by Don the starter in regards to waiting to join someone else or go out on my own. I appreciate that!

Great experience and I would definitely recommend playing here. Take advantage of the great summer rates.
