Golf Course Reviews: California, Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Hawaii!Played Wed 9/4, 7:15 tee time, 2 some, with some waiting, played in under 4 hrs. course in pretty good muni shape. Greens are running a fast 9, mostly good... a lot of tamping down ball marks. Fairways are even and above average. A few soggy spots off the fairway. Not bad at all. the one bunker I landed it was really good. dense, but soft, if that makes sense. I don't get out here often.. it's a Dye brother creation, short from the tips (6100), not a ton of trouble, but enough to keep you thinking on half the holes. Had a good time. Punching next week, so plan accordingly
Played Sunday 8/18, 11am tee time, 5:15 round. Been over a decade since I've played here, I think. So it was nice to play a nostalgic course. fun layout... but in below average muni shape. Greens running a fast 9, bumpy. Fairways are hairy and inconsistent. tee boxes are some of the worst I've seen in a while. all in all, still a playable course.. had fun. not the fastest round.. not the best greens, not the most pristine.. but a classic nonetheless. Carts have gps.. that was a surprise. Glad I was able to get out.
Played Sun 8/11, 8:20 tee time, 4:45 round; started as bitter cold and windy, needed to wear a layer. warmed up by the turn. 1-2 club wind all day, that seemed to only be downwind on 2 holes. Interesting fun layout. Very hilly. Wide enough fairways with enough trees to keep you honest. Some short driveable holes, and some monster uphill holes. Greens are challenging... ran probably a fast 9... but definitely not flat greens. Course is in average muni shape. Tee boxes are a mess. Fairways are very playable. Bunkers are decent, but not raked consistently. Parking is an odd layout. I didn't think it was very walkable, but quite a few walkers. Had a really good time, and wouldn't mind playing again.
Played in a scramble fri 7/26, 5 hr round. First time here even though I work really close. Course in decent muni shape. It's a straightforward, no frills, parkland city course, with some really long holes. Moderately wide, but keep it out of the trees. Greens look great, rolled slow and bumpy... like really slow... like an 8. Decent time.
Played Sunday 7/23, 9am shotgun, nice sunny warm day. Winds 1/2 - 1 club. I struggled with the altitude adjustment. Most of the time I didn't give the altitude enough respect as I tried to adjust for the wind... other times, I was short, and sometimes it was perfect. Greens are pure... fast... about a 12 downhill, 10 uphill. I couldn't figure out if the grain was affecting it, so I just adjusted speed for up and down hill and it worked out. Very pretty course right on the shore... I rank it #2 public, under incline.... Edgewood is prettier and has more wow factor, but Incline is the better, more interesting course, IMO. And half the price. However, I am looking forward to my next opportunity to play here, as it's a fun time.
Played Sat 7/20, 9am shotgun, nice sunny warm day. I love this course... it's my favorite public in the tahoe area. Greens were perfect, fast. Grainy... running a 12-13 downgrain, fast 10 into the grain. The whole course is in great shape. 18 interesting holes. Can see the lake in the distance, as some of the holes frame the lake perfectly. Play the 7-8% altitude distance adjustment to sea level. Have to trust it. I was pin high all day because I did. Always look forward to playing here.
Played sunday 7/14, 9am tee time, 5 hr round. Pleasant day that turned hot the last hour. Mild wind, 1/2-1 club at times. Course in below average muni shape. Playable for sure, but you are settling a lot. Greens are grainy, running fast 8 against the grain, slow 10 downgrain. Soft and bumpy. Fairways are littered with a crabgrass of some kind... we were bumping in the fairway. Bunkers are below average... playable, but rarely raked and lots of rocks. Lots of geese, but the goose droppings seemed to be in less playable areas. Interesting layout... water hazards and ravines you have to carry. A few short layup holes due to the water. Probably only 1 cart girl for the 2 courses, cuz we only saw here twice. It would be an excellent course if they maintained it... Had a good time as always, but probably won't make the drive out by choice or if I got a deal.
Played Wed 6/26, 12:10 tee time, walking 4some, no caddy, leisurely 5 hr round, a little waiting, kept pace most of the round. Course in fabulous shape... except, #6 was a temp green about 60 yds short.. the temp green was better than some munis... they made it sound like they were going to change the hole of the temps for a little while . AND #11 had an irrigation project going in the front of the tee about 60 yds.. so they had us play over them... like a hazard... and they had nets and trucks and hard hats and didn't care we were hitting over them. weird. So other than that, the course is in great shape... Spyglass standards did not disappoint. Greens fast.. running a slow 12 downgrain, fast 10 into the grain. Started chilly, but warmed up quickly. mild wind. Sunny. Had a great time, as always.
Played sun 6/23, 12:30 tee time.. just played 9 holes... they let you pay for just 9 holes. HOT day, but didn't get the worst of it. First time here... I've played the McKenzie side a bunch of times.. first time on the Arcade. Playing with a beginner, and it was chill enough to let her take mulligans and give her little lessons. Got around in 2:15. Fun beginner course. They have tee boxes for all skills... It tips out at 6800. The greens were really good, surprisingly good. It's a basic parkland layout. Fairways more than playable, average muni shape. they have a nice restaurant with a great tap. Had a good time.

Played Sat 6/8, walked on as single at 7:30, teed off by 7:50 as a 2some. 4:40 round. What a find! Military course. Rack rate is $45 plus cart, for visitors! Average rack rate for visitors is over $150, so this was a nice break on the wallet. And it's a fun course, It's up in the mountains a little, so you don't see the ocean, but it's beautiful nonetheless. Very grainy greens, running a 10... course in below average muni shape. Greens struggling in spots. Fairways not maintained is some spots, but very playable. Has a lot of character to the course...a lot of fun holes with hazards in play, a few elevation changes. carts have gps, which was a pleasant surprise for the cost. Now, I'd say of all of the islands, Oahu has the least impressive golf in terms of the 'hawaii experience'. But even the most pedestrian course on Oahu hits different than home. The weather. The vistas. The agriculture, the sounds... it's very hawaiian and is a fun unique experience. I will make sure to play here if I get back to Oahu.

Played twice this week, Wed 6/5 and Fri 6/7. Single walk on. Busy course. Got out early and was able to join some 2 and 3 somes. Makes it hard to warm up. Teed off 7 on Wed, 6:15 on Fri. 4 1/2 hours and 4 hours respectively. Greens were sanded recently, so sandy on Wed, better on Fri. Greens were running a slow 10 on Wed, fast 10 on Fri. Greens very grainy... goes to pearl Harbor, but the sand on Wed masked it... I struggled on Fri for 10 holes until I figured it out. Course is fun, in good muni shape. overlooks Pearl Harbor, and there are some good vistas on the higher elevation holes. Course is hilly, has water features, and good sized greens with undulations and grain. I played here 10 years ago, and made it a point to get out, especially after seeing the golf hawaii card deal. If budget is important, and public golf is your option, and you don't want to play turtle bay, I'd recommend this course at the golf hawaii card price. Can't beat it. That being said, I'd say of all of the islands, Oahu has the least impressive golf in terms of the 'hawaii experience'. But even the most pedestrian course on Oahu hits different than home. The weather. The vistas. The agriculture, the sounds... it's very hawaiian and is a fun unique experience.
Played Sat 6/1, 8am. Beautiful day. Sunny and clear, mild wind. Course runs through houses. Interesting track. Has water features throughout. Lots of interesting shots... elevation, doglegs... Don't see the ocean until 17, and then 18 is the best looking hole on the resort. Actually 15 -18 is a fun finish. Greens seemed to be struggling a bit... lots of pockmarks made for bumpy greens. Ran a fast 10. Had a great time. Hope to get back someday.
