What a fantastic golf course. I have lived in Vegas for 3 months now. I have played Badlands, Arroyo, Both Angel Park courses, all 3 Paiute courses, and others, and Boulder Creek has them beat hands down. Even though it is 40 minutes outside Vegas, I would urge you to make the drive.

The course was NOTHING like I expected it to be. I played a practice round there for the NV state Am qualifier. If it was not for that fact, I would probably have skipped this course. I am glad I did not. The course has a fantastic design. Fairways are magnificent. Greens are fantastic. I really have nothing bad to say about this course. They also have a large practice area, and range balls are included.

I am a local, so my rate was good. For out of state visitors, the rate is not bad at all. MUCH better than the rates for any of the courses closer to the strip. I would also suggest going to EZLinks.com, and booking on there, since you will save some money.

Once again I urge you to skip the courses closer to Vegas, and make the 40 minute drive to this one. Great track. PS: I played the Desert/Coyote nines.

Warning. DO NOT confuse this course with Boulder City golf course. Make sure you play Boulder CREEK.

A decent course. There is a replica hole of TPC Sawgrass's 17th. Can't decide if that was cool or corny. Fairways were good. Surprised (in a hmmm way) that the greens were Poana grass. I will have to say what spoiled our round was the fact that we were asked to speed up our play TWICE.... even though we had NOONE behind us, and NOONE ahead of us. Eventually I had to be rude to the marshal and tell him to please back off and leave us alone, and that if anyone caught up to us, we would let them through. PS: Price of food is good.

While course conditions were good, the round was not enjoyable.

First off, we arrived at the course an hour before our tee time. However, you are not allowed to drive your cart to the practice area, which is about 1000 yards from the club house (read on for more about driving). You have to wait for a shuttle to take you there and back. We ended up only being able to hit balls for 10 minutes on a crowded range, then had to head back, only to have to wait 15 minutes because tee times were running late. I would say that at least it gave us the opportunity to putt, but the practice putting green was significantly slower than the green on the course.

As for the course. It is clear that this is a course where layout of the home sites was far more important than that of the course. Distances between tees was ridiculous. It seemed like there was a 500 yard drive between the green and next tee box on almost every hole. The course felt VERY disconnected. No flow at all. The round took just under 6 hours to complete. Pace of play was lethargic. The hole design was uninspired. I recall a single hole that stood out.

All in all, I have absolutely no desire to return to play the course. If you are looking for a long round, on a disconnected, uninspired design, you will not be disappointed. Otherwise, I would suggest you look elsewhere. Just my .02c

I enjoyed the course. Greens were a little dry, and firm. Bunkers needed sand, or needed to be re-tilled, since they were hard. Fairways, tee boxes and rough were lush. Customer service was SUPERB. I accidentally booked my time for Friday and no Saturday. I showed up on Saturday, and questioned why may card was already billed. They informed me I booked for Friday. Even though I messed up, and the course was full, they got us out within 30 minutes, and we did not have to pay a cent. Pro shop staff, starter, and halfway staff were great. A+

Wow!!!! This is a Troon Course? Really. Horrible condition. Would never have expected this from a Troon course. Avoid the course. Even at a LV resident rate of $45, it is a rip-off. Yuck, and shame on you Troon.

Course was in good condition. They just had Q-school 1st round there. Greens were fast (although I believe they are punching them Monday). Fairways were good, with some patchiness. Same for rough and tees. Now for the bad. There were FIVE 5-balls on the course, and that is just the ones I counted. The group ahead of us was a 5-ball. So was the group behind us, and there was a 5-Ball 3 groups ahead of us. The 5-ball ahead of us was playing the tips, and I don't think any of them could break a 100 from the red tees. The 5-ball behind us was one of the most obnoxiously loud groups I have ever heard. To make matters worse, there were NO rangers on the course. If it was not for the fact that the 5-ball ahead of us stopped halfway to eat, I would not have played the back nine. It was ridiculous. Coming from Orlando where I lived for 14 years, they would NEVER have let a 5 ball out at peak times, let alone FIVE 5-balls. I could not believe it. Before you play the course, I would call to make sure you are not booked behind a 5-ball. It was an EXTREMELY frustrating time.

AMAZING. Torrey Pines South is in the best condition that I have ever seen it. The fairways were like carpets, the rough like 6" velcro (only stickier), and the greens were fantastic. I would have to say that the course is in better condition that it was for the US Open..... only MORE difficult. No gallery to find your ball, or matted down rough from the gallery walking in it. Tough as nails, and (as mentioned) in PERFECT condition. I had not played the course in 3 months (because of the rate hike), but it was definitely worth the $73 today. Only negative was that we could only see 10 yards ahead of us for the first 4 holes, and were hitting blind (because of the marine layer).

Well, like so many other courses in the San Diego area, this one is a tale of differing nines. From August 5th, they switched the nines so that you now play the back nine first. After completing 18 holes, it become clear as to why. The back nine is pretty bad. Very tight, poor conditions, and poorly designed holes. The front was much better. Better condition, more open, and better designed holes. So the reason for switching the nines becomes clear. The back nine leaves such a bad impression, that they would prefer you play it first, and finish on the front nine. It is also clear that maintenance appears to be limited to mowing. There were some bunkers that could certainly do with a weeding. There are also fairways that are had some sever balding. Ok here's a question. Why make a hole where the fairway ends at 250 yards, and then you have a 200 yard carry to a narrow green where you are dead if you go right. Well that is the 18th for you. There there is another hole (the 12th I think), where you have to hit a 5 iron off the tee, then hit a 9 iron to the green. There are more examples of this on the front nine. Unlike a course like Woods Valley (one of the best designs in San Diego), where there is both risk and reward, this course (especially the front) is all risk. Crosscreek markets itself as a links course. I grew up on a links course, and sorry CrossCreek.... but you are no links course. If there were ever a marketing lie, that would be it. Funny thing is that there were patches of goodness. The 2nd green is in phenomenal shape..... but that is one green. The 4th fairway is in beautiful shape.... but that is one fairway. There is not much you can do about the design of the back nine. However, if the all the greens were like #2, and all the fairways were like #4, I would consider playing there again. However, until that happens, I will save myself the 50 minute trip.

LOVED THIS COURSE. So much so that I went back to play it 2 more times, i.e. 3 weeks in a row. Having come from Orlando where there is an abundance of good, affordable golf, to San Diego where course expensive and severely lacking in design and condition, I had become very disillusioned at finding a course to play other than Torrey. It was so bad that I played Torrey 30/33 weeks (now I play it once every 6... thanks to the rate hike). I was looking for other courses to play, with no luck. The ones I played were either in not good shape, or had really questionable designs. Someone suggested I try Woods Valley. Its a trip from where I live, but WORTH EVERY MILE.

Greens are the best I have played in San Diego. They are Tiff Eagle/Bent, I don't know.... I do know they are not Pao Annou. They are medium firmness, so you don't suck the ball off the green every shot (like Torrey North). They roll very true.

I was told the course was recently taken over, and the new owner is putting some serious money in it. The first time I played it, the fairways were dry. The other 2 times, they were cart path only, since they had been watered to the point of producing mud balls. This is only an issue on some holes.

Where this course really shines is Design. It is bar none, the best designed course I have played in San Diego. There are holes that require thought (make sure you hit left with your tee ball on 13). There are holes that offer risk/reward. I hit 4 rescue on the 7th the first 2 times I played it, but on my last round, I hit driver over the corner. The 10th is and intimidating drive from the tips. 11 is a BEAST (when played as a par 4). The par 3's are a challenge, with water on 3 of the 4. The par 5's are not pushovers. Better take advantage of #2, because there are only 3 par 5's, and 9 and 18 can bite you if you go left or right.

The course is very walkable, except for getting from the 15th green to the 16th tee. Pace of play is excellent. When I played, it was $55 including cart and free lunch (limited time offer on the lunch), for a 8AM tee time. I expect play on this course to pick up because of word of mouth. I urge you to play the course. I know you will like it.

Played Willow at Sycuan on 09/19/2009. I had played The Oak course before, and enjoyed that course. I had heard the Willow was supposed to be better. However, having played the Willow, I personally do not believe that to be the case. I thought the Oak was in better condition, has some nice elevation changes, and variety of holes. Oak has 1 or 2 quirky holes, but not overly quirky. The Willow however has a VERY quirky front nine. Some horrible holes. Not only that, but both 9 and 18 are par 3's!!!!!! NOTHING more unsatisfying than ending a 9 on a par 3, let alone ending your round on a par 3. Skip Willow and play Oak. I will not be rushing to play it again anytime soon.

Played on 11/22/2008. The course was in OK condition. I would rate it a 6.5/10. LOTS of bugs. Thankfully they don't bite. Pace of play was terrible. Waited on every hole, every shot. The front nine is poorly designed. Short quirky holes. The back nine was far better. Staff have major attitude too. From the pro shop, to the starter. You can tell it's a JOB to them, and they would rather be elsewhere. This course is short. 6,500 from the tips. It is only a par 70 though. My longest iron into any green on the front side (including par 3's) was a 9 iron, and that was teeing off from the very back of every tee box. As mentioned, the back nine is a whole lot better, with longer holes.

Fairways were not in good shape. Some EXTREMELY "gimmicky" holes. Slow pace of play. Proshop did not answer GPS message for needing a new cart.
