Played on 7/5. It was a hot day and we walked from the 4-Oak tees. The course is in pretty nice shape. The greens are as nice as you’ll find for a public muni-style course in the Central Valley in the middle of summer. The fairways were good. The rough, once you’re off the fairway by more than 10 yards, is gone; which is expected this time of year.

Haggin Oaks is always a good confidence builder course because you can spray it and still score. It’s definitely worth the value though at $36 on a Friday.

Other notes: Easy course to walk, except it’s one of those courses that hole 9 doesn’t end back at the pro shop, so stock up with drinks and food before. There were “Marshalls” on the course with cold water, which was nice, but they did nothing to help the speed of play. The round took 5 hours. Nevertheless, courses like Haggin Oaks with good practice areas and a range that is open almost all hours of the day helps grow the game and offers something to all.

Played Ancil on 6/20. The golf course is in immaculate condition, no dead spots yet. The greens roll as good as any public course in the region. The fairways were in great shape, though there were a decent amount of divots but what do you expect for a public course in mid-summer?

Highly recommend this golf course. Great shape and always a very tough challenge for any level of golfer.

Played today--course was in ok shape. They have taken a different approach this summer than usual with overwatering the fairways and greens and leaving them longer. Usually it's the opposite here and it's a pinball machine in the summer. However, it really was in ok shape consider the end of a hot summer. Slow greens but smooth-ish. Rough was pretty much dead but fairways were ok if you're willing to move your ball onto a piece of grass.

Still totally worth the $22 green fee. They are redoing the clubhouse currently.

Teal Bend is a fun course to play. A lot of dog legs, which can be tricky if you don't have a laser to know how far to hit it. Greens were punched recently when we played so they gave us a voucher to play again before the end of the year--all for $47. The greens really weren't too bad even still as they're normally above average quality year round. Course can be had by long hitters but taming if hitting astray.

Been a year since reviewing--course still in great shape despite 100 degree temps. Greens are always some of the best and the rest of the course is above average for a municipal golf course. Good players course that can challenge anyone.

Played Wolf Run for the first time on Aug. 12. Upon first glance, the course seemed to be in great shape--however, these were some of the worst non-punched greens I've ever played on. There were about 5 difference times of grasses in them which made them hard to distinguish from the rest of the course. Looked very patchy and rolled the same way. Felt like I was playing at Chambers Bay after that US open.

The rest of the course is ok and kept in decent shape but it was just impossible to do anything on those greens. The service was fair throughout the course including a nice cart girl and bartender, where there was a good happy hour offering after the round.

Will most likely not be back though due to the greens.

Played nines holes (back) today. Only $16 to walk for as much as you can play. Pace was slow and it was 100 degrees out. Course is in good/fair condition and well worth $16 to play. Easy track with a fun setup for long hitters.

Most of the course is pure Bermuda grass which makes the tees harder to tee up but the fairways run and give perched up lies. Greens don't break much and are slow/average speed but roll pretty good.

Very Good municipal course. The course conditions up to the green were about average, but then again we're in a drought and it's a city course. The greens were excellent though. Ran smoothly and fast with a ton of slope on every hole...ate me up with 6 three putts.

Ancil Hoffman is technically my home course (part of men's club) and it is always a good track to test your game. This is probably one of the more difficult municipal golf courses out there as all of the fairways are lined with 50-100' high trees and typically cost you a stroke, or at least any shot at birdie, if you hit into them. The greens roll as nice as any country club and have pretty good undulations on them. Your short game better be on point, if your long game isn't or else it will be a long day.

Paid $23 to walk 18 on a weekday afternoon, can't beat that! Ancil is a good player's course but is fair enough for any handicapper.

Played this course on 6/28 and 6/29 with our group of guys. Indian Wells is always one of the best experiences that you can find for a golf resort. They treat you like royalty here and the course is one of the best (my favorite actually) in the world.

The course was in excellent condition as usual with the greens running smooth for the summer and the rest of the course's surfaces in immaculate condition. While the track and layout isn't the most challenging as a whole--that's what also makes it fun. There are a number of holes (Holes 4, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14), if you can hit a good drive, that you get mad not making a birdie. As a amateur golfer, that's fun golf. There are also a handful of very tough holes that you must get through to keep a good score (Holes 5, 6, 9, 15, 16, 17).

Tip: If you play on Sunday, don't forget to try their brunch before or after the round. It's awesome.

Played Classic Club on 6/27 in the mid morning. Course is in fantastic shape with the greens rolling at about a 9. This course's tee boxes are maybe in the best condition of any course I've played, anywhere. The layout is always a challenge and if you're not playing the par 5's well, birdies are going to be few and far in between--even for the best of players. Classic Club is a Top 5 public course in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area.

Played SilverRock on 6/26 in the late afternoon. Course is in great shape for the summer temperatures. Greens had been punched about one week prior but still ran better than most courses do in the desert during the heat. #17 had a temp green which was disappointing, but in general you can't beat the $40 CA Resident rate during the summer. SilverRock is easily a top 3 public course in the Palm Springs/Coachella Valley area.
