Walked the Blues (6400/71.7/126) with Mickey in 5H, 15M mid day. There were often 2 groups waiting to hit per tee, probably the busiest course I have ever seen on a regular (non holiday) Tuesday afternoon? The weather was in the 80's & clear with a little wind. Challenging course to walk, constantly up/down rolling hills. Excellent customer service from all encountered. The tees were mediocre, mostly adequate coverage but several could use divot repair and a few could use leveling. The fairways were the best I have seen them here, now at least average. Did not look like they have been mowed since the rain, they were a little long but on the verge of becoming mostly lush with much more consistent coverage. The rough was also a step up from when I last played here a couple of months ago. Still generally thin, but becoming thicker. The sand traps were better maintained than previous visits with good sand, better than average. The 1/2 of the greens just aerated last week were bumpy and furry as you would expect. The 1/2 of the greens aerated last month where all the pins were located was 95% back to normal and were mostly smooth and medium fast. They held approach shots well. Fun layout with a few quirky holes and lots of mature trees. Some doglegs and water to keep things interesting, can be challenging for any shots offline. No beverage cart but they have a restaurant on the turn. Recommended = Yes.

Played yesterday with fellow GKer, dabldya. I called a few days prior and secured a tee time for $34.99, which included 18 holes of golf, cart, meal, and a drink. We got out just before noon, right behind a small tournament, so pace of play was horrendous. The course is in good condition right now, so of course they will be aerating soon. American Golf courses seem to love the half and half method, aerating half of all the greens one week then the other half of all greens a couple of weeks later. Customer service is good, the food is just okay at best. Greens rolled smooth and medium fast. Lots of roll out on the fairways and rough. Gravity makes its presence known: many shots running downhill towards the canyon do not seem to stop, so be aware of that. The bunkers had ample amounts of good sand, but a lot of foot prints. Not too many ball marks on the greens. BTW, the carts have a decent GPS with hole maps, descriptions, and tips. We enjoyed it so much, we went out and played the back nine again, finishing just at dark. It had to be well over 5 and a half hours to finish; however, it was not terrible as we were enjoying the views and picture perfect day.

I played in our bi-weekly golf club tournament at SDC this weekend. The course was in really good condition. The greens are so fast and smooth, and roll nice. But remember your playing SDC, they do have hard to read breaks. The fairway was in firm condition, you will get extra yardage, with a good bounce. the rough was ok, not to long, I was able to advance my ball quite easily. The bunkers where good, except for the players that do not know how to rake a bunker after going in...sand quality is good, no large pebbles, just grainy. The tee boxes had shown the quality of players that played before me, HACK CITY! I know it's a public course, so I accept that.
I would come back again, soon if possible!

While I have been a great fan of this course, it had been some time since I last played here, so thought I would re-visit. Nothing has changed! I found the greens to be by far the best part of this course. Fairways were overall decent, however the rough was not good. Too many bare spots between the clumps of grass. Bunkers were hit or miss, depended upon where in the bunker your ball ended up.

There are several holes I really enjoy, but on the other hand, there are a few I really dislike. The setting is peaceful, no homes which is always a plus, and seeing lots of deer, was nice. Staff was great and getting off early allowed for no issues with pace.

Walked the Blues (6400/71.7/126) with Scott in 4H mid day. The weather was in the 80's, breezy & clear. From tee to green the course was thoroughly average. However, these greens were well above average bordering on excellent. The tees were average, adequate coverage but a few could use divot repair. It was 60/40 whether a lie in the fairway would be thin or good to play from. Mostly thin, at best average. The thinness of the fairways really comes into play on a couple of holes on the back that are severely sloped, making it almost impossible to keep the ball in those fairways. The rough was also generally thin. However, it could be punitive because you could draw lies between clumps of grass or be on hardpan that were challenging to play from. The sand traps had okay sand but were not well maintained. Way too many unraked areas to be considered good. The greens were smooth, firm and medium fast. You need to keep yourself below the hole on these greens and they held approach shots well. Fun layout, can be challenging with lots of mature trees. A few quirky holes with some doglegs and water to keep things interesting. No beverage cart but they have a restaurant on the turn. Challenging course to walk, constantly up/down rolling hills. Excellent customer service from all encountered. Recommended = Yes.

Walked the Blues (6400/71.7/126) with Kevin & Ricky in hot, breezy, clear conditions twilight. I did something that I have almost never done in 44 years of golfing, walked off w/o finishing the round. Playing partners were great, the course was good overall, no issues with POP, we were on pace for a 4H round. However, it was 104 degrees and there was practically no liquids available. I found 1 water fountain on the course that shot out water about an 1" that was about the temp of a typical jacuzzi? After having played Eagle Glen in the a.m. in hot conditions, did not feel like walking the final 5 holes, so quit after 13. The tees were mostly good, a few could use divot repair, adequate coverage. The fairways were mostly thin, at best average. It was 50/50 if you would get a good or tight lie in the fairway. The rough was also generally thin. Not thick, but could be penal because you could draw hardpan or lies between clumps of grass that were challenging to play from. The sand traps were mediocre. Sand okay but not well maintained, way too many footprints to be considered good. The greens were definitely the star of the course. Smooth, firm and fast. Held approach shots well, you cannot leave yourself with downhill putts on these greens. While the rest of the course was average to below average, these greens were some of the best I have putted on in some time. Obviously no beverage cart but they have a restaurant on the turn. Challenging course to walk, constantly up/down hills. Fun layout, can be challenging, lots of mature trees, a few quirky holes with some doglegs and water to keep things interesting. Excellent customer service other than the water challenges. Friendly starter and I was very impressed that the pro shop guy let me split a 2 person voucher into 2 single rounds. Therefore, I will be back to sample holes 14-18! Recommended = Yes.

Had some extra time today so decided to take advatange of San Dimas' email offer of $19.99 Mon-Fri after 11:00am. Got there at 12:30 and checked in with the friendly gentlemen in the pro shop and was off to the 1st tee by myself within a minute or two after a brief chat with the nice starter. Played the first 6 holes by myself before catching up with another single and twosome on #7 tee and we played as a foursome the rest of the way. Overall POP was 4 hours flat which is pretty good for SDCGC. Course conditions haven't changed much from previous reviews. Greens are by far the highlight and it's so nice to putt on healthy greens that have some pace to them. It seems like in the summer, everywhere else is the standard medium-medium slow pace. Not here! Greens were soft, rolling true, and quick! Minimal ball marks which was nice as well. Everything else was pretty standard So Cal summer muni shape. Fairways dry/thin. Mostly good lies but some areas that will definitely get your attention. Rough was thin and not penal. Was in 2 bunkers and had no issues. Tees had good coverage but most could use some leveling. I've always loved the quirky layout. Didn't hit driver once all day and you really don't have to. Position is way more important than length. All par 5's are reachable for most and for longer hitters even with less than driver off the tee. Greens have some undulations and tricky breaks to them. Pay attention to the mountains as they tend to influence all putts here! Wind is always a factor at this canyon/foothill property as well. Most holes play either downwind or into. #1, 2, 10, & 18 were the only cross winds holes that we encountered today which is the norm here. Not sure what the final rating came to, but I'd say the greens were 8-9 range and everthing else about average around 5-6. But for me, I'll take great greens over anything else so I was happy and for $20 you can't beat that! Go play!

Played Saturday July 29. The course is in typical July shape. A bit dry and hard, but very playable. The greens are in very good shape however. San dimas offers excellent customer service - among the best in SoCal. The starter here IS the best. When the wind is blowing here, it's a fun test.

Played 7-5-16 early morning with Itslikeimsayin, Sixpez,and Kassper7 , using vouchers from Zebwelborn. Tee boxes were in descent shape, mostly level with okay coverage. Fairways and rough are about the same , thin with a lot of bare areas. Was in two bunkers that were a little firm but not to bad. Greens were in good shape rolling medium speed and fairly smooth. Overall course is not in that good of shape and with an over 4 hour round at 6 in the morning I would choose somewhere else to play.
