Many private courses have been a letdown. You realize the course is private because it couldn't handle public play. It's too tight, too punitive, too limited in facilities to handle more than a few people at a time. Los Coyotes isn't one of them. It could handle the public - maybe the range is too small - but otherwise the course is playable and interesting.

As was said, the practice green was unreal - so smooth and perfect and sneaky fast. The regular greens not as much, but still, two hole locations were on slopes that made any miss from anywhere except below the hole roll off the green. (lame)

Conditions overall were pretty good - described in detail in other reviews. Without any direct complaints, I didn't fall in love with the course. There was something "American Golf" about it that I can't put my finger on. That said, I'm really glad I got to play it and would recommend anyone else give it a try.

As some others have noted the fairways seemed a little long and did not afford much roll out.As Gary mentioned there were several pin placements that were downright brutal! If your putt was short the ball would roll back over 10 feet and off the green. Some of the bunkers I was in could use some sand. As always I had a great a time with my playing partners.Anyone playing on this coming Monday will have a good experience.

3/21 guru outing, Mark and Marvin have provided detailed and comprehensive reviews that cover all the esentials. I foundn the course played longer than the stasted yardage but I am old. Fairway turf was much longer and softer than most courses this time of year so not much roll. Also seemed that most approaches were up hill. Good lies overall and very fewn unfilled divots. Rough was mostly short with a few areas that could cover the ball. Tees good and bunkers wel maintained with nicely compacted sand.
Greens were in very nice shape but very challenging. Had trouble all day with reading breaks and adjusting to speed. Some pins were absolutely brutal as a slight miss turned into a longer generally uphill 2nd or 3rd putt. Greens were soft and receptive for shots with proper amplitude(not my game).
Very enjoyable outing with great playing partners. POP just under 4.

Played here in the second GK Guru group today. We played the Lake nine, then the Valley nine. I drove the Vista nine afterward and it seemed to me like Lake/Valley are a small step above Vista, design- and interest-wise. The course was quite busy for a Monday but pace was good, finishing the front nine in a little under two hours and the back nine was probably just a little slower. Gorgeous day, weather-wise.

Conditions are good, highlighted by fantastic greens. The gigantic practice putting green was possibly the nicest, purest, green I've ever putted on. It was lots of fun reading the giant breaks on it and practicing on ultra-smooth, fast greens. Greens on the course were a little slower and didn't seem to break quite as much as the practice green. Still fast, smooth and accepting of full shots. They also obviously had some ball marks in various states of repair compared to the practice green. Still excellent. Fairways were lush but didn't seem mowed today, so they were a little long and a tad scruffy for my liking. The rough was not very penal in most spots and a little clumpier than the fairways. I was in a couple bunkers and they had nice sand. Blue tee boxes were fine.

It was my first time playing here. I remember when I first got really into golf, this course used to host an LPGA tournament, which made me think it must be really special. It pretty much lived up to that expectation some 30 years later. I enjoyed it quite a bit. There are a few funky holes but very few that were boring. Strong par 3s on the Lake & Valley nines, while one of the two on the Vista side seemed very straightforward and ordinary. Much of the Valley nine reminded me of Rancho Bernardo Inn, and some of the Lake nine reminded me of a nicer version of Candlewood or even the front nine at Balboa Park. Definitely worth the effort if you ever get an invite to play here. Thank you to Johnny and the course management for the opportunity.

Played Los Coyotes as part of GK Guru outing and was paired with Steve, Perry and Gary all great guys and would play with them anytime. We teed off at 2pm on a beautiful afternoon after hitting a few warm ups off we went. We chose the white tees and tee boxes were level and very few divots. Fairways were fairly generous and seem to get a decent amount of roll and I thought they were in excellent shape. Greens were also excellent probably 11 on stimp and if you were above the hole on some holes and you missed your putt, it would literally be off the green. A few of the sand traps were a little crusty while others were perfect. Not to much rough to speak of. The only staff I encountered was at check in and he was very pleasant. The course is in excellent shape right now and I’m am definitely looking forward to next Monday’s Golf Moose outing.. definitely recommended…

Played Fri dec 13th, at 704, we won a 4 some tee time at a charity event a month ago. We checked in and got off early playing Vista and Lake. Course is in real good shape, tee boxes really nice, fairways and roungh was good, not in any bunkers so no comment, greens were very rececptive, ball marks to repair all day. This is a private course and I was surprised at all the unrepaired ball marks there were on the greens. The greens were very fast, going down hill, the ball just wouldn't stop. It was a very enjoyable day.

Played Monday Nov 4th in a charity event. Shotgun start at 11am, first time here and was a little disappointed, this is a private club but thought the course conditions were very average. I live in Norco so it was 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there and 2 hours to get home, I know why I play allot of inland empire courses. Tee boxes were ok fairways had some bare spots, no bumkers as it was best ball, and greens were receptive, the greens also had some very large Suttle breaks and were on the fast side, so if you were going down hill it would just roll out past the hole.

I played in the Member for a Day event at Los Coyotes. This was my first time here. Check in was easy and then I spent some time warming up. The range was very nice with balls provided. There was also a chipping area and a good practice bunker. The sand was so fluffy it made me think of marshmallows. The putting green is large, very fast with lots of undulations. The carts are basic with no GPS. On the course the it was hard to find the yardage markers.

I was paired with a nice twosome and we teed off at 9:44a.m. on Valley/Vista. It was apparent from the start that it was going to be a very, very long day. We were behind a fivesome and when we finished the first hole there was a backup of 4 groups on the par 3 second hole. It eventually spaced out a little bit but we still waited on every hole.

Overall, the course conditions were impressive. The fairways were lush, very well cushioned. The rough was shortish and uniform around the course. I was in 2 bunkers. I was hoping that they would be like the practice trap but were thinner and a bit crusty. The greens were smooth and fast but there were so many unfixed ball marks. It’s such a shame that the guests of a private club didn’t bother to take care of the damage. The tee boxes were chewed up but level.

This course is really, really long for me. It’s over 6,000 yards from the forward tees. It plays even longer with all but 3 greens being elevated, some of them extremely so.
By some miracle, I hit better than I have in a long time. I managed a 48 on the front with 14 putts. Unfortunately by the time we got to the back, tired from the heat and all the waiting, my game pretty much fell apart. POP ended up a bit over 5 hours. It’s a very nice course, but I don’t think I’d be in much of a hurry to return.

Played today on a special rate of $45. We were treated like members. POP was 3.5 hours. Course is in spectacular shape. Have only been able to play Valley/Vista 9's and hope one of these days to experience the Lake 9. Check in was great (thanks Mike, enjoy your trip to the Masters). Off right on time. Tee boxes are all in perfect shape. The fairways (wet to start) are lush and provided good roll ( and better as the morning got warmer) and great lies. Bunkers were hit/miss? Some were perfect to play out of, while others were not? Greens (which are large an undulating) were wet and somewhat slow at start, but once it warmed up, they were fast and excellent. Terrific private course and one one should play, when the opportunity arises. Great customer service at all levels.
