I got out here with a few buddies, I haven't played with in a few years. We where impressed how top notch the conditions are in.
The tee boxes are firm, flat, and minor divot damage. The fairways are superb , with lush yet firm, like carpet. You will get great roll and set up on your next shot. The rough is a bit long, where you are penalized with missed fairways and rewarded with hit fairways. The rough is about 3"-4" long and you can loose your ball in this long stuff. You practically have to look on top of the ball to see it. You can advance your rough shot, but be aware to add 2 clubs. The course is lined with a lot of bunkers on practically every hole, I know because I hit quite a few. The bunker sand quality is really good. Greens are rolling true and medium-fast. Greens do have undulation, so read carefully.
This is a must play, and I'll be back, next week.

Played on 5/15 as part of a tourney, course is in excellent shape. Greens were smooth and quite fast (prob 11s). Fairways were in good shape and not yet dried out as it hasn’t been warm yet. Two fairway bunkers I found myself in were large grain course sand - much easier to escape and less likely to hard pan.

Was my 2nd time playing here and, in terms of layout, it’s a very playable course. True to its name, quite a few “lake” hazards but nothing too tricky. Not a lot of sand and no holes have any gimmicks that make you think “this is a silly layout.” If from Orange County, layout feels fairly similar to another Ted Robinson design at Tustin Ranch.

Overall a good track. If in the area, definitely worth playing. As a destination course, not noteworthy to make a long drive just to play it.

Played Friday March 26th at 8am, check in fast. Two months ago we played here in major winds, today we had drizzles at the beginning. Went in to pay and the woman had no mask on, this really helped this lip reader so expect relaxed conditions, single carts are $15 more. The course was in pretty good shape with the exception of a few fairways, they were bumpy and longer grass and bare spots so if you hit a roller you got penalised. Tee boxes good, rough long enough to affect play but not too penal, traps in the beginning were slightly damp because of the rain, but had plenty of sand, in fact the traps dried out quit well and you actually had dry fluffy sand on the back 9 firt time in 2 years for that at any course. And for the first time in over a year, THERE WERE RAKES IN THE BUNKERS. Now we just have to get people to use them...... Greens rolled very well and I were faster than L S NORTH and I struggled in the beginning with the speed. , but rolled nice, not sure when they will be punched. This is a course I like with only 1 hole not siutting my eye off the tee box, it does route in a housing track but the fairways are very wide and generous and the houses do not come into play unless you are struggling, I hit 13 of 14 fairways with a bad back. As said before the $57 for Friday IMHO is too much, but we play here once every 3 months or so. I would like to play here some Tuesdays but my buddies are from OC and it is a drive for them.

POP was 4:45. Parking lot was packed. $15 surcharge for single rider. First time seeing a sand trap rake in 1 year.

Green were highlight running at 9/10 with plenty of unfixed ball marks. Fairways had above average winter coverage. Sand traps were thin and needed sand. Tee boxes were above average. Wide fairways and unique layout kept things interesting. Saw cart gal twice on front 9. See you again in 10 years Sierra Lakes.

Made it to Sierra lakes today (1/31/21). Turned out to be a really nice day in terms of weather, no wind when we played but you could tell it was just about to start. Sierra Lakes is in pretty good conditions for the winter time. The fairways are exactly what you would expect from a course that deals with with frost and then wind. It had absolutely down poured here earlier in the week and there was some standing water in spots, not in play though. The tee boxes were in good shape, a little hard at times but level. The sand was still a little wet but had been dragged so it wasn't too bad to get out of. The best part of the course has to be the greens. They ran true today, held the ball nice, and hardly had any blemishes. I was generally happy with Sierra Lakes, and that was because I played one of my best rounds in a long time. However, there are some unfortunate aspects to this place. The first real problem I have with S.L. is the cost, $89 is a little steep for what you get. I think this course should be more around $50. The second is the pace of play. Even as the 3rd or 4th group out we waited on just about every shot, and finished in just under 5hrs. How could this be? The Marshall had no care in the world as he passed us 5 times to say "hi". The amount of people waiting to tee off when we made the turn was a little disturbing.
On another note, the drink lady found us on the 12th and she does make an incredible Bloody, I needed one today, not for my game but merely to pass the time while waiting to hit....should have made it a double. I recommend this course if you don't mind paying a price above its worth and you you don't mind playing slow, potentially.

Played Fri Jan 15th at 820, check in fast. It was very windy, 40 MPH gusts,or more.1 of our 4 groups showed up but did not play. There has been wind here for 4 of the last 8 days or so, so the course was very dry. Tee boxes were good, fairways ran like mad, I am 68 with average drive of 205 to 215 and I had 2 280 yard drives. My 8 iron is usually 134 yards and it was going 108. Balls hit sideways with the wind would move 40 yards. Driving was not the issue playing in wind, your irons are very difficult to play as they get the ball higher in the air. I was in 7 bunkers and all of them had good sand. Greens were very hard and dry from the days of wind. I must say the course does a really good job of moving all the tee boxes forward for holes into the wind and leaving the tees back on holes with the wind behind you. This course is in a housing track, but the houses really do not come in play, even with the wind as I hit 13 of 14 fairways. I like the layout of the course allot, just think $55 is too much for this course.

I'm not a fan of courses that wind through homes, especially those courses with homes on both sides.

The homes had no effect on play at all. Course had big wide fairways and plenty of rough so the houses were never in play, although, we had one buddy put one in a house. it was an extraordinary effort. lol

Loved the layout of the course, greens were excellent. Fairways were very nice, though in winter condition. Not much rough to speak of. Sand Traps were covid sand traps so not going to say anything.

Overall, had an excellent times out at Sierra Lakes. Looking forward to our next round there.

Played here 11/21/20 with a 6:22 am tee time. My friend and I were the 3rd group out for the day and didn't have to wait much on the foursome in front of us. played in 4 hours. Conditions are good!

Greens- 8/10 - would be 10/10 but lots of ball marks that werent fixed which isn't normal for this course. Means there was a recent tournament of inconsiderate people

fairways- 8/10- good coverage and trimmed

rough- 9/10 always penalizing and long but not too long where you cant find your ball

sand- 9/10- fluffy and soft was in 2 traps. One did have some rocks in it on 16 FYI

Tee Boxes- 6/10- this is where they need work. A bit chopped up, might need to move them more frequently and let the grass recover.

Water- smelled clean and clear.
