Played 10/30/08. Recent overseeding was evident bit wasnt a problem . Greens were lightning fast and true. I play here often and the course is in great overall condition for this time of year. There are a few places that drainage seems to be an ongoing battle. The veiws of the valleys and mountains are superb and the pace of place is the best I have found on a public track in So Cal. I would suggest this track to anyone that prefers fast greens and that "old style" character that only time can provide.

Greens in excellant shape rolling med fast and smooth. Various undulations. Fairways in great shape,lush. Rough 1-2 inches mostly. T boxes for the most part flat and in good condition. Biggest complaint bunkers were terrible. Not really sand more or less dirt seemed like. Service was great and no problems with marshalls. All in my foresome said they would return.

First couple of holes are in very rough condition. It gets better midway through the front, but that first impression is hard to get over. Regarding C/S issue, the course marshall was initially very rude and then started telling us racist jokes which were not appreciated.

Play twosome on sat. 3/29. Wasn't expecting much as i have played here several times the last 4 years. Wow was i wrong. I have never seen this course in such a great condition. The fairways very nice and greens roll very fast. We finished in about 3 hours and was on the putting green. Was having a conversation with one of the guys at the putting green when he asked when my tee time is. Told him we just finished a while back and really enjoyed the round when he asked us if we like to play another. Found out he is one of the starters. Told us to go ahead and tee up another round if we like as there was no one coming in for another 45 minutes (there were having a tournament that afternoon). Wow, never expected that. We ended playing another 9 holes (couldn't have played 18 but just didn't have the time). Overall a great experience.

Played on Saturday before Christmas at noon. Found the deal on golfnow, went to Castle first, they said, not the right place.
Once I actually arrived at the course, the disinterested college kid at the counter took my money, no personality at all. However, the starter/ranger lady was pretty nice. I teed off alone, and caught up with a twosome in 3 holes.
The course conditions were pretty decent. I hadn't played the track in a while, and it'll likely stay on the "when you can find a ridiculous special" list. There are so many silly holes, so many blind tee-shots, and general weirdness about the course. And it's not the cool weirdness of a Mt Woodson, just quirky weirdness. I did want to mention that the traps are really fluffy, like the guy who raked it out in the morning had nothing better to do than put a foot of loose sand in each of the bunkers. It's like trying to hit out of fresh snow. (Not that I've ever tried)
Since it's value golf, remember not to expect the same players you find at La Costa. These are value golfers, so just set your expectations appropriately.

One of my favorite courses to play. Reasonable rates and relatively easy to get a tee time. Fun course!

Played on Friday, 8-24-07. Overall, I was trying to come up with an adjective that describes my experience at Meadow Lake. The word "pleasant" kept coming to mind. Pleasant layout, not too tough, greens were in fair-or-better shape...a few bare-spots on some fairways, but certainly playable. Pace-of-play was O.K. - nothing to get excited about one way or another...we had to wait on a few holes, but never got pressed at all by the group in back of us (we actually never saw them!) We finished in 4 1/4 hours. Greens were a little slower than I generally like, but - they broke and rolled true for the most part. They seemed to hold all shots well and people seem to fix their ball marks. The greens on the course were MUCH faster than the practice green!!!

There are a lot of divots in certain fairways, but again, the people who play here fix their divots properly with the white sand provided on the carts...so the white sand tends to stand out a bit on the green fairways and they just appear to be legion...

The GPS system on the carts is pretty Spartan (just a simple LED readout on a tiny screen) but it was certainly accurate... Local knowledge would have helped my score (I had never played there before) - a good golfer should be able to score well here and maybe even "go low". It's not a tricky course at all...

Like I said: "Pleasant"

I'd play here again if I found myself in Escondido for the day.

Played Meadow Lakes Saturday afternoon, 8-11-07. Course is really in great condition except for two nagging items: the tee boxes are really chopped up, and the bunkers could use some sand. Other than those two things, the course was perfect! Out on time, great rate, pleasant conditions, and quick play...what more could one ask?

Be ready to use about every club in your bag on this course. Thinking persons course, for sure! Truly nice "19th Hole" also.
