I had the honor and privilege to play Saticoy CC on Monday 1/19 in the morning. This is truly a remarkable golf course. I wanted to first start off by saying that no hole at Saticoy CC is even close to or similar to each other. I have played almost every course in Ventura County and Saticoy CC is right up at the top as far as having a great layout. It does tend to favor the draw more here off the tee box. Our group played the blue tees and had no wind on the front nine and very breezy conditions on the back nine. Saticoy CC sits on top of a beautiful hillside setting in Somis. The conditions of the course were top notch. The fairways for the most part had perfect lies. The rough around the fairways were thick in some spots especially the further away you were from the middle of the fairway. The greens were in the best shape that I have ever seen greens and held iron shots very well. They were lightening fast and anything above the hole putting or chipping wise took precision to get into gimme range. The tee boxes for the most part were level and lush. I was in the sand twice and the sand was very high quality. The layout from the blue's was very fair and challenging with a 140 slope. The course is a treeline course with superb bunkering and plenty of lateral hazards and out of bounds. The staff inside the restaurant, bar and snack shop were very attentive and professional. The views were amazing and the golf course itself gave you a sense of peace as you are very secluded from any roads or freeways. The back nine offered views of the Pacific Ocean. Saticoy has hosted a US open qualifier here and I can see why...what a great golf course.
