National is one of my favorites and has never disappointed. Fairways were lush with full coverage and no bare areas. Rough was up about 2 inches just off the fairways and faded out as it was farther away. Greens were the only issue, as it looked they were punched a few weeks ago. They were rolling slow and had some light sanding on it. Bunkers were in great condition, thick sand that was easy to hit out.

I definitely need to play here more, pure old school Vegas and worth a round.

Played Saturday, 10/9, in a tournament that the committee set for the tips. National came out of reseeding just over a week ago and is off Cart Path Only. Many areas of the course still had that "fuzzy and needs a good cut" look but played pretty nice. Some of the tee boxes were a bit long but mostly level with some markers set on a slope. Fairways looked and played like they just came out of reseed, lots of wetness, plenty of mud balls, but no bare areas. Rough varied from just above fairway to some gnarly deep stuff. Bunkers were outstanding. I don't remember the green side bunkers being this good with deep, heavy-ish sand that was nice to hit from. I was not in any fairway bunkers. Greens have improved from the summer when they had some bare, dirt areas. Completely grown back in and running smooth, just on the slow side but sped up as the sun heated up.

Staff was nice and friendly. They had a drink cart assigned for each 9 so there was never more than a hole without an opportunity to grab something. The historic bar/grill was crowded but with good service after the round.

Not your typical Vegas course and I love it. Tree line parkland course. The whole place just oozes Old Vegas from the time you walk in from the parking lot. It's not the flashy new Vegas but deserves a look if you're in town.

Played National twice in the past week, Thursday 6/3 at 6:10a and Tuesday 6/8 after 3p. $60 in the early morning and $29 super twilight. Pace was great for both rounds, I walked as a 3 early in about 3:20 and rode as a 3 in about the same.

Course conditions were about the same, outside the water on the course in the early morning. Tee boxes were level with very little damage. Fairways were lush and the rough was about 2-3 inches. Bunkers had some of the best sand in Vegas, beach-like, heavy when wet and thinner dried out. The greens have issues with spots of dead areas. They placed the holes away from the areas, but occasionally had to putt through it.

Service was easy. Bar was open early and late, with great service and prices. Easy check-in and cart guy met me the in parking lot to load the clubs.

I love National and it screams Old Vegas. Reserved placards on the bar for Frank, Sammy, and Dean. Course is tree lined but pretty wide open with some tough par 3s and par 5s. Only down part is the neighborhood surrounding the course has suffered some as the town as grown, however, I think its a good Vegas option.

Wow this course gets a lot of play. Maybe because I played it on the weekend. Condition wise there is nothing spectacular. At the same time, there is nothing bad about the conditions . I found myself rating most everything a 6. One bunker needed some more sand, however. My club just bounced into the ball and not under it. This is not an easy course. Trees water and bunkers all come into play out here. If you can shape your ball flight all the better. The well bunkered greens and undulations on some of them really give this course a private club feel. There are party golfers, regulars, snobs and first timers that play here, especially on a weekend. The houses baordering the must have had famous people residing in them. Not anymore, some where vacant while others were in shambles. There are signs on the course describing this history.

Played on Saturday, 4/20, in the late afternoon with a high school buddy and his co-workers. Pretty empty course, but we caught a slow moving 4some (even after we took a break after 9). Thankfully they picked up the pace when they saw the nasty clouds moving in and we finished in about 3:45.

Course was in really nice shape. Tee boxes did have some divots but relatively flat. Fairways were lush, no thin or dead areas. Rough was thick and gnarly, about 3 inches, and the ball would just sink down. A good chance to lose one if you didn't see where it went in. Bunkers were nice with some decent sand, easy to pop out. The greens were amazing. Flat as glass and almost as fast. Some unfixed ball marks but they were great.

I can't believe this is only the second time I've played here. Such a nice course. It's an old school, flat tree lined course and not a Vegas style desert course. Anything hit inside the perimeter fence is playable (outside of the water hazards). Some course knowledge helps, there's some hidden hazards and lots of dog legs with different lines in play. Afterwards, an Old Vegas bar with tons of memorabilia to look through waits for you. It may not be a "must play" course, but it's worth a look if you can get a good rate.

Played on 08/04, teed off at 1:40 and were off by 4:30 as a twosome trailing a SNGA Tournament, so there were a lot of people coming and going. No bag drop area, so we carried our clubs up to the cart area. Once there, the guys were super nice, TWO Coolers and USB charger per cart, but no GPS. The carts were in great condition and they have signs on them informing you of cart path markers for yardage. They were for distance as well as the flag color for pin placement. The clubhouse staff was "blah", took our money and directed us to the cart staff to start. If you are missing a club, they had a ton for sale and they were all $5, so my son picked up a really decent 60 degree. THIS COURSE OFFERS A JUNIOR RATE!!! Like I said earlier, we trailed an SNGA tournament so the tee boxes were a little beat up. The fairways were decent and the greens were all in different shape. From bouncy to smooth. If you can get past the 4th hole (I believe) you escape the small streams that seem to have homeless people living in them. I dropped my ball in two little stream areas and there was so much trash in them from homeless people that, although I could get my ball, I didn't really feel like putting my hand in the water. It really was a shame to see such a nice course with such trashy conditions. Like I said, after about the fourth hole, you get away from that. There were two areas where the houses that lined the course were throwing huge parties. One house, seriously, had 50 chicks in skimpy bikinis and the music was nightclubish. Lets just say the view was pretty decent. Most of the Tee boxes have a short history of the hole and the adjacent houses. Apparently Tiger Woods won his first major here and the sign tells you what he scored on that hole. We saw the cart lady three times and apparently there is no drinkable water anywhere on the course. So bring plenty unless you want to pay $2 for a small bottle. Small Gatorades were $4 which was annoying. Around the 13th hole, there was a homeless camp where at least three of them walked through from one hole to another to cut through to wherever they were going. I suspect that is why there isn't any water on the course. Full disclosure, they look before they cross in front of you, wave hi and if you yell fore, they move out of the way and SERIOUSLY point to where your ball went after it stops. Overall it was a fun and challenging course. The trees love to stop the ball and spit them out after they are done, so practice your bump and run shot. lol I would play again for the price of $20 at 1:40 and $15 jr. rate. (subject to change obviously).

played 12.2.17. Now this was my kinda golf course ! I loved this course. Like others have said If you have never played here , you must make it part of your future plans in my opinion. The history of the course , ( Tigers first PGA win ) , ( The rat Packs home course) , The movies that have been filmed here , all that just sorta adds to the atmosphere. The course itself is old and in some places its age really shows , but overall it is maintained very well and the staff is great. the clubhouse is old school but very classy. On the course the fairways were lush but many unprepared divots. In fact I drove my ball into divots in the middle of the fairway on the first 2 holes! ( A first in my golfing life) The greens didn't appear to have had many ball marks fixed in the 2-3 days prior to our round. The only bunker I was in i managed a sandy birdie so I can't complain but I would say the sand was very course and a few bunkers hadn't been raked in a while. many of the areas around the back of greens or between holes is where you can tell the age of the course, with muddy or bare patches. With all that said, I loved this place! I love old well designed courses with tons of character. If you do too, you gotta give National a run.

I played my last round in Vegas yesterday at the historic Las Vegas national golf course. I read a lot of reviews prior to playing and I was glad I played it. If you like Vegas you need to play this course at least once. Lots of good history and stories throughout the course.

The conditions were above average but not great. Most tee boxes were level but there were some that were not and some had been beat up. Fairways were nice and green and provided good roll. Greens were hard and fast. It was hard to get the ball to stop. Most had a few ball marks and they were a little bumpy for my taste. Bunkers were hard pan with very little sand.

Pace of play was awesome at under 4 hours during a slight wind day that made you think about your club selection. Like I said before I really enjoyed the course. Layout is not very hard with room to miss right or left. I like the stories and the history of the course. If your in Vegas I would play it at least once, not sure if I will go back.

Played here Tuesday, 1/3 with a 7:00 am tee time. I called a few days prior to inquire about the possibility of a frost delay and was told they'd had them nearly every day for a month. Fortunately there was no delay on Tuesday, although I was informed when I checked in that I'd run into a shotgun tournament that started at 8:00. I got sent to the first tee by myself a few minutes before 7:00 and flew through the front nine in about 1:10. Then there were three tournament groups on the 10th hole when I arrived. The starter offered to have me play the front again, but because it was my first time here, I really wanted to see the whole course. He told me to follow the two groups on the tee box, which sandwiched me in between tournament groups. The group behind me initially acted as if they were entitled to play through me because they were part of the tournament, but then we joined up at a course employee's request after a few holes and they turned out to be really nice, great guys. Front nine 1:10, finished the back nine about 2:30 after finishing the front (which includes about 20 minutes wait on the 10th tee), for a total POP of about 3:40. Not bad, especially considering I planned on a likely frost delay and ~8:30/9:00 start. Also, my time was a GN Hot Deal and I used a $10 GN Reward toward it, so I got a really great deal.

Conditions are quite nice, highlighted by really smooth greens. They ran medium-fast to fast and were a little on the firm side. Full shots would take one big bounce and then stop. There are lots of undulations to some of these greens. Fairways are consistent green and lush, and nice to play from. There were a few muddy/wet spots on a few holes, but nothing too bad. Rough was coarse, splotchy dormant grass that mostly laid down, so it wasn't deep but was somewhat difficult to gauge how it would play. Tee boxes were mostly good/great. Sand was very good in all the bunkers I was in.

As I mentioned earlier, this was my first time here. I enjoyed the layout, although it isn't anything I'd necessarily recommend someone go out of their way to play. It's somewhat of a novelty in that it's a pretty straightforward parkland layout amid all of Las Vegas' desert style courses. Like roarksown mentioned, there are quite a few hazards that are not visible from the tee. Definitely worthwhile to pay attention to the hole diagrams on the scorecard. Also a pretty good variety in hole lengths, except all five par 3s play pretty deep from the tips. I appreciated the signage on various holes chronicling the history of the course and people who lived on it, as well as what Tiger scored en route to winning the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational. For Clark County residents, they are currently running a special: 3 rounds in January for $99. If you can get out there three times, definitely a good deal.
