First off at twilight, pretty empty out there due to Father's Day and the US Open. We played at our own pace at about 4 hrs 20 minutes. Course is in good shape, greens are in great shape except I fixed A LOT of ball marks. Fairways are well covered and a bit hairy, but this course being short limiting the runout on tee balls is necessary to make it play longer. Good shape right now, rough a bit splotchy, but overall a decent play.» Close

Played a GK Cup match vs D-Con here today, first time for me at this course. I enjoyed the layout and conditions were above average, although just about every part of the course could use a mowing.
Tees: a bit chewed up (even on a par 5 tee box?)in spots, mostly level, but shaggy
Fairways: good coverage just a few bare spots, I always had good lies, not a lot of roll out but a bit
Rough: sticky and long in spots
Bunkers: mostly brown, moist, dirt from what I saw as I was only in one fairway bunker that I had no trouble getting out of
Greens: rolling mostly smooth, a bit on the slow side of medium and pretty soft
Warm up areas: chipping/putting green in front of the clubhouse didn't go to the range but saw it on the way in way down the hill from the course no idea how to get there
Walkability: nope, not practical
Layout: very enjoyable and varied, rolling fairways, deep bunkers and multi-tiered greens, it was a fun course to play. It didn't play very difficult today even with some stiff breezes, if the fairways were running a bit more and the greens played firmer I believe it could play tough.
Recommendation: certainly, get a deal and this course is a fun one.» Close

What a difference a week makes . . . after reading the GK Guru reviews from last week I was looking forward to getting back up there. I have always liked the layout as it is a real challenge in many spots. Well, conditions weren't exactly, (with apologies to Andrew) "best I've ever seen them". The greens (and the guy at the front desk told D-Con they would be a bit slower than last week after the Member/Guest tournament so we were warned) were overall pretty slow and I saw a few putts get bounced off line. The fairways were dry and hard, but mostly were fine to hit from as long as your ball avoided the aeration holes. Rough was rough, spotty and inconsistent. I had a few "how am I going to hit this" lies. Puffs of grass, hard pan, sandy areas, rough. Bunkers were ok, mostly groomed dark colored sandy dirt, but playable. On hole #5, the short par 3 the reeds have been allowed to grow so tall you can't see the green from the tee box at all, just the top of the flag. Not an overly hot day but the water stations were empty. POP 6 hrs, never waited and had to let some elderly ladies play through. Clubhouse is nice?
I really like this course and hope I'm not being overly picky due to the anticipation of thinking the course was in great shape and finding it dry and hard with slow bumpy greens. maybe they just hadn't watered since last week?
. . . and I will throw out the disclaimer that I played pretty well, especially playing from the Blues and won my GK Cup match so these aren't just sour grapes, just disappointed ones.
I still strongly recommend this course as a great place to play, usually an all around great golf experience from the clubhouse to the warm-up areas, course, customer service, etc. Just look for a deal and don't expect resort conditions.» Close

This is now my favorite course, best in show. The history (for me personally and in the larger context of golf in general), the views, the layout, the challenge, the usually good conditions, the fact that mostly competent players play there, the fact that it's 15 minutes from the house and that it's a beast of a course . . . a "big boy" or "big girl" course.
Tees: level and wide
Fairways: great to hit from with a bit of roll out
Rough: sticky, gnarly, penalizing and beautiful
Bunkers: firm base with a bit of fluff on top, what seems to be the norm everywhere now
Greens: still a bit slow and bumpy from the last punching, but just a wee bit
POP: today was great, our 3:10 group was sent out at 2:50 we never really waited and never got pushed, we finished around 7
Customer service: top notch, they appreciate your business and don't care if you are a local (like me) and pay $47 for twilight or an out of towner who paid a couple hundred

Finally nailed down an elusive "Hot Deal" that was there, then gone, there and then gone back and forth for a few days, apparently not the courses fault, some kinda GN glitch and I am sure glad I brought a copy of the voucher because they had no record of us and the time we got is a time a certain group gets every week. After that was worked out in a friendly and professional way by the young lady in the shop we were good to go.
I found the course to be in good condition overall and the layout varied and fun as always.
Tees: mostly level with good grass coverage
Fairways: firm with run-out and nice to play from (there were aeration holes on some)
Rough: minimal in most areas but a bit variable in others, not a huge bother but enough to effect shot choice
Bunkers: the ones I found were in good condition with mostly firm sand
Greens: the greens were a bit hard, but well struck shots would stick, they rolled at medium-fast and were mostly nice and smooth . . . very few ball marks due to the firmness
POP: we played at our own pace only seeing the group in front a few times and the group behind occasionally
Customer service: always good here
