The restaurant is being renovated then the old pro shop will see new life and it needs it! The carts are great with good GPS and speakers with outlets for devices. The driving range and practice green are in great condition. We started on the tenth tee as evidently there was a water main break on the front nine that needed repaired earlier in the morning. The tee boxes had good coverage and all but a couple were level. The rough here rivals TCI in thickness and length. The rough is long, thick and mostly Kikuyu. If you were able to find your ball in it there was little chance you were going to advance it very far. Fairways from start to finish had nice green grass cut at the perfect height for good lies. The traps were all full of really great sand but probably hadn't been raked in a couple days? The greens were always really nice here but are extremely nice now. The greens held a good shot well with roll out if you came in low. There are many subtle breaks on these small greens and that paired with the speed made for some frustration in our group. The narrower fairways on several holes have some slope to them which adds to the difficulty of the course. There are a couple water features but they do not come into play during the round. They do offer a senior weekday rate which is reasonable in comparison to nearby facilities. The location is directly off of the 15 freeway for easy access. Definitely worth a round. » Close Mid morning 4.5 hour round on a ninety degree day. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the carts are comfortable but lack GPS. The tee boxes were all level and trimmed but a few were slightly firm for getting a tee in the ground. The rough was in good condition and trimmed at an appropriate length. The rough would slow down wayward shots and you could find it and actually hit from it fairly easily. The fairways were all in great condition with lots of roll if you kept it down the middle. The fairways grass was cut at the perfect length and had great coverage from start to finish. There were few divots and the course was being watered to keep it soft and green. The traps in the fairways are still hard and brown but easy enough to hit from it you weren't near a lip. The green side traps have nice white sand and are well maintained. Hitting from those bunkers was nice but some were slightly damp. The greens are in the best condition I've ever seen them in over the thirty years of play here. They have total coverage on every hole and hold shots well. They were fairly quick especially with the warm dry weather recently. The ground crew was watering a few during our round to kept them from drying out. There was not the usual spongy feel to them. The greens are very similar to TCI and Cross Creek now which is great. The elevation changes and water features make this a somewhat challenging course. The rates are very reasonable for the area and it continues to draw a good amount of play. Definitely recommended now that they no longer are using the criminal Golf now app to book tee times. No longer are you paying them to book a tee time. We saw something today I've never seen before on a course. Waiting to hit from the eleventh tee a red hawk had a mud duck in its grasp and a couple of the geese chased the red hawk off the mud duck who scampered back into the pond. Didn't know the geese ran the course but evidently they do! » Close Early morning 3.5 hour mid week round walking the Creek/Oaks nines. The course was totally deserted when we started the round but was getting busy when we finished. Every hole was cart path only which didn't really matter if you were walking. The tee boxes were nice except the par three holes were only divots and sand. The rough was actually trimmed down to an acceptable length but extremely thick and damp. Easy enough to find your shot but difficult to put a decent stroke on it. The fairways were squishy from start to finish and the creeks and drainage ditches running quick. There was little roll if you could hit the short stuff and damp enough to muddy things up. The traps were all full of water and nearly unplayable on every hole. The greens were all in great shape and surprising extremely quick. The speed of the greens was very deceptive with the weather conditions. I would say the greens were quicker than almost any other round I have played here including the dry hot summer rounds. The weather ranged from partly sunny to super windy with rain showers and constantly shifting winds. The weekday times are usually easy to book and walking rates reasonable. » Close Played in the Golf Moose outing on a sunny warm day with great partners. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facility is aged but well maintained as work was being performed during our round. The practice area does not have a driving range but the putting greens, chipping area and driving nets did the job. The comfortable carts were very nice and quick but lacked any GPS. The rough was the perfect length to slow wayward shots and allowed for a decent shot. The fairways had good coverage with divot mix placed throughout the entire course. The fairways were tight in sections with great roll on well struck tee shots. The well groomed and trimmed traps were mostly damp with very thin to thin sand coverage. Hitting from them could be difficult if you found your ball in one. The aprons around most greens was thinner Kikuyu which was difficult to chip from with most electing to use the short sticks. The greens were great with total coverage. They held shots good but did have roll out without a lot of spin. They were very quick with unseen breaks. Many were very small and well protected with the pin placements. The layout had a few water features and fairway bunkers strategically placed which came into play. There were many trees lining the holes from start to finish which made finding a ball near one with the leaves difficult or impossible. There were some elevation changes in the layout but the course is definitely flat enough to walk. The fairways were generally wide forgiving. The front nine has three par three holes playing to a par 35. The back nine at a par 37 was 400-500 yards longer and more challenging. Definitely a course our group would play again given the chance. » Close Early afternoon tee time 4.5 hour round. The rates have continued to increase since JC took over management of this course. The parking lot has some of the smallest spots I've dealt with at any course ever so beware. The carts all have decent GPS but ours shut down on us while driving down the cart path?? The tee boxes were a little shaggy with good coverage and limited divot damage. The rough doesn't really come in to play since there is very little of it to find. Many forced carries from start to finish with thick stuff off the fairways. The fairways were mostly tight fairly dry bermuda. You will encounter sections of other types of grass mostly around the greens. The dry fairways provided great roll if you could keep the ball in them. Many of the holes slope from left to right so shot placement is critical. The middle of the fairways roll so much that a shot there can easily end up in the rough or out of bounds. The traps ranged from hard packed dirt/sand to thick damp stuff around the greens. The greens are fairly large but can be hard to read for some. The quickness of them slowed as the round progressed into the late afternoon. The layout is challenging and can be frustrating for those who haven't played here before. The weekday afternoon rates are reasonable but the morning rack rates are a little steep. This area of Northern SD County doesn't have a lot to choose from in the way of courses anymore and most have increased their rates because of this. » Close
