Conditions much improved from my last visit. Still some soggy areas but rough has been mowed but still thick and the fairways have dried out. Greens are fast, receive well struck shots well and the traps are nearly perfect.

Played at 11:33 on Thursday 1/8/2026. It was a bit windy, warm for the front 9 then chilly, the course had been soaked days earlier and they were still quite busy cleaning up the mess.
Tee boxes: small, crooked, variable coverage, typical Balboa
Fairways: first 5 holes wet, areas of rocks and/or sand that had washed onto the course from the rain. The rest of the course the fairways were in decent shape even though most hadn’t been mown in awhile.
Rough: long, wet, thick, hasn’t been cut. VERY difficult to locate errant shots! (It didn’t help that the guys I was paired with were consistently in the rough and looking for their ball on average 30-50 yards from where it actually was)
Bunkers: highlight! Smooth, raked, with good sand
Greens: surprisingly smooth and fast although they were soft and were littered with ball marks (my wrist is still sore from repairing other people’s damage)
POP: slow going in wet tough conditions (felt like an 8 hour round but was just under 5)
Recommendation: wait til it dries out and they can mow.
