Let’s see where do I begin? Life long golfer, surfer tennis player and cyclist and if I can stay injury free I can hopefully play more often. Anyways, love to play whenever I can with very nice GKers like all of you…

The course I thought was in great shape greens were quite quick and fairways were great. Bunkers were I felt hit and miss some had good lies while others there was very little sand to speak of. However at the end of day, it was a great time and hopefully looking forward to seeing the group again… » Close Played Lakewood today teeing off at 8:30 and played in exactly 4 hours. The course is in nice shape and most tee boxes are fine with the exception of number 3 for both blue and white they were a little chunky but for the most part fine. Greens were great and held shots well, lots of sand in bunkers as I was in a few. Most of the tee boxes today were almost next to each other, the first 4 were only a few yards apart and then from 5 on they were separated by maybe 10 yards but I did see a lot maintenance workers today so maybe it was for today only, because if you were playing whites it was a good 6500 + yards today. Last thing, the rough is really grown here to maybe 3-4 inches so if you spray your ball a little good luck finding it. Was lucky to find a tee time here today, but for those of you who are seniors, the Lakewood Senior Men’s Club has openings you get to play 2 tournaments a month on a Monday teeing off at 8 am just thought I would mention it. Always a good time playing here.. » Close Played Mountain Meadows this morning teeing off at 7:50 with my tennis friends and it was a beautiful day. Pace of play was about 4hours 15 minutes so not to bad, didn’t have to wait too much to hit a shot. The course was in nice condition , fairways were in really good shape. Greens held shots well and they were not overly quick. I didn’t see very many unfixed ball marks which is a great thing. I was in one sand trap on the first hole and sand was fine, as for the rest I didn’t notice. I did see a great deal of walkers today but that didn’t detract from the pace of play so overall it was a good day to play. I definitely would recommend it. » Close I am spending some time up here in Pismo and decided to play Monarch Dunes which I haven’t played in a few years. I have played this course many times but on this most recent outing they charge 125 to walk and 150 to ride during the week and 175 to ride on the weekends. It’s considerably less if you live here and you’re a senior citizen. Before I get to the review, regardless of where this course is located for the price they are charging there should be a GPS system detailing course and green views why they don’t have it is beyond me. On to the review, the course design is really great in my opinion but today so many areas are roped off so there is more walking involved which is fine but it just slows down play. Most of the tee boxes are fine, some are a little scruffy but for the most part level and ok. Fairways are ok but again at this price point it should be way nicer, maybe not desert nice but a lot nicer than what it is, I mean some of the fairways remind me of El Dorado or Lakewood. Lots of unkept rough or dead tree limbs and dead grass which start to creep up into the fairway. Greens are firm with little to no ball marks and roll probably 9-10 on the stimpmeter. We teed off at 10:45 and were a twosome and didn’t see anyone until hole 6 and I noticed a lot of private carts so maybe that’s a good thing because the course probably has a strong membership. Bunkers were nice and soft and very fluffy and easily to play from. All in all I enjoyed myself and I played here mostly out of nostalgia but at their rate I’ll stick with my memories and choose other very good options that are close by. Would recommend if only one has a deal of some sort of discount.. » Close
