The wound might still be too fresh for this golf course to qualify as a "Flashback" but its been over two years gone now and what a great track it was.

Do you miss it? Any experiences you'd like share? Thoughts?

Ah, I did have some fun 36 hole days going to Sierra Lakes and Empire Lakes. I sure didn't think at the time that Sierra would be the one to survive and flourish.

Empire Lakes was tough, but I liked it.

I liked it, too. Always had trouble with the tee shot on #12. Just a tough visual.

Only played it a few times, but during what ended up being my last round there, I recorded a 15 on a par 5 -- and that was being generous with the rules! I sprayed so many balls out of bounds on that hole it was ridiculous.

My first time there was when I was writing a travel article for GOLF Magazine on the emerging Inland Empire golf scene. The arrival of an Arnold Palmer-designed, high-end course was a big deal in 1997-ish.

played it once only a few months before it shuttered. minus what the pond looked like on 18 and either the 2nd or 3rd hole, i enjoyed the place. good dollar value and shot values. very nice test of golf from the back tees.

Was one of my favorite courses in the IE and was really sad when it shut down. I must've played it 30+ times over the years and it never got old! The days when the Mark Christopher Charity Classic was played there was especially fun (brutal) if you played just before or after the tourney. Great times and fond memories!

When I was in the area, working with customers, I would stop here and get in a quick round, or use the driving range. One day on the range, someone behind me said "keep your elbow in"? I turned around and it was Kevin Na. Thanks very much. I also enjoyed when they had the Nationwide tour here. Walked 18 holes with Matt Kuchar and it was like walking with a family member. Not to mention, that it was an enjoyable course to play.

Really, really miss Empire Lakes, it "fit my eye" better than almost every course I've ever played. Some of my best scores were shot there. Such a shame it's gone.
