Looking for some guidance on where to play in Palm Springs. I have a group of 12 guys going on next March. We already have 2 days scheduled at PGA West playing Nicklaus Tournament & Stadium on 1 day and playing Mountain & Desert on the 2nd day.

I'm pretty sure I want to play Eagle Falls one day and Escena on our departure day but I still have 3 days where I'm looking to play 36 each day.

I'm thinking Desert Willow on one of those days but having trouble deciding on what to do the other 2 days. We were thinking Indian Wells but not sure we want to spend that much money. I've heard about Mountain Vista and Terra Lago but I've read both good and bad about those resorts.

I'd appreciate some insight on these courses I've mentioned above and any others that might fit the bill. Our group is made up of players ranging in handicap from 5-15. We don't mind paying for the nice places but definitely appreciate the diamond in the rough type courses too.

If anyone has any local knowledge I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

JJ

Robert is right, Classic Club is a wonderful option (especially if you are playing in the morning before the winds kick in). Troon property so you know they will treat you right. Love Indian Wells (either course) as well.

Classic Club and Marriott Shadow Ridge are my go tos. Fun tracks and usually competitive on price. Classic Club has in the past given a $15 food and beverage credit (not to mention divot tool and towel) that makes the price better, if you eat or drink there. Liked SiverRock but have not played it since they re did it.

My ratings are below. These are all recommended, but at the same price I'd pick #1 over #2, #2 or #3.

1 - Indian Wells, TPC Stadium, PGA Nicklaus, Silverrock, Classic Club, LQ Mountain,
2 - Shadow Ridge, Eagle Falls, Desert Willow, PGA Norman, Indian Canyons South,
3 - Escena, Cimarron Boulder, Terra Lago

I've played all the above multiple times, so I am comfortable recommending all. There are other options in PS that I like, but haven't played but once or twice.

What they said. Classic Club and Shadow Ridge are definitely the top two other solo course options and they are fairly close to one another for a 36-hole day. SilverRock and Eagle Falls for sure up there among the top options, as well. Everything in the area will be pretty pricy in March, so it is what it is, though you may start seeing some deals on UnderPar, GroupGolfer, etc. You'll have to weigh your options of quantity vs. quality. Certainly, when it comes to quality, Indian Wells is the best two-course combo in the valley, if you ask me. Desert Willow is also right up there. Conditions everywhere should be really nice in March.

Mountain Vista is a decent 36-hole value pick. Westin Mission Hills would be another to consider if you find a deal. Enjoyment of Terra Lago usually depends on course conditions and they are always a little rougher around the edges than most valley courses these days, though my last visit was very encouraging. I would hope conditions there should be pretty good around March and those are two of the more underrated designs out here, if you ask me.

Basically, you have plenty to choose from and it's hard to go wrong with anything in the Coachella Valley that time of year.

Desert Dunes Golf Club is a diamond in the rough in my opinion. It has a great layout off of the beaten path.
A couple things to know about it: 1) the location is through the wind tunnel. 2) bunkers could use sand on some.

Cimarron Golf Resort (Boulder) has always had great conditioning during high season and it's just a fun course but a much easier course than what's mentioned above.

Desert Falls Country Club is also good.

36 holes a day for a week+... you are talking my language!

Best 36 hole public combo's if you want to stay within a 1/2 mile of each other, in the order I would play them:

1-PGA West Stadium/Nicklaus Tournament
2-Indian Wells Celebrity/Players
3-Desert Willow Firecliff/Mountain View
4-La Quinta Mountain/Dunes
5-Mountain Vista Santa Rosa/San Gorgonio
6-Westin Player/Dye
7-Terra Lago North/South
8-Indian Canyons South/North
9-Marriott Desert Springs Palm/Valley

Public combos not on same site that would work because they are close together. In the order I would play them:
1-Silver Rock/PGA West Norman
2-Classic Club/Escena
3-Marriott Shadow Ridge/Desert Falls
4-Eagle Falls/Shadow Hills South

I would play all these off site combo's before I would even consider playing 7-9 of the on site combo list...

The goal is long and straight! But on the many times I cannot seem to hit them straight, I at least want to hit them long!

My top 3 Palm Springs courses are Indian Wells (Celebrity for beauty but only has two par 5's so long hitters sometimes prefer the players course)
Then Desert Willow which slightly edges out PGA West - Nicklaus Tournament.

All others mentioned in this thread could be a tie for 4th in my book.

In short you can't go wrong with any of them.
