I received an email today from River Ridge welcoming me to American Golf. Really? I thought everything was fine over there. I hope this does not affect the quality of those two great tracks.

Otto Kanny and company retired (previous management) and after a long interview process the city of Oxnard selected American Golf.

QUOTED  I hope this does not affect the quality of those two great tracks.

I hope not either.

This might be a good or bad thing depending on who you are but its likely the greens will run slower than previously maintained.

Be prepared for change. In the LA county courses, they replaced all the long time pros who worked in the shops, with minimum wage employees. Personally not impressed with some of their replacements, at some of the courses.

I have played dozens of rounds at numerous American Golf facilities over the years. NO large golf management company evokes more negative thoughts in my mind as a golf consumer than American Golf.

It comes across loud and clear that their priority is how many people can we squeeze on to maximize income and in how many areas can we cut back to minimize expenses? 5somes with 5+ hour rounds seem to not only be expected but considered perfectly acceptable to American Golf management. It's all about the bottom line with course conditions and customer service well down their list of priorities.

Rather than striving for excellent or at least above average course conditions, whatever is the minimum that would attract the masses to play a mediocre muni seems to be their mission. Below average, mediocre to at best average course conditions are the norm after they have been in place.

The goal is long and straight! But on the many times I cannot seem to hit them straight, I at least want to hit them long!

Just noticed that only players club members can get a tee time 7 days in advance. General public can only make a reservation 6 days in advance. Does not leave good times for general public. Looks like I played my last round at RR. No more drives from SCV on those hot summer days. Was this recently added or after the AG "take over"?

Not sure what you have heard, but AGC lowered rack rates, added online discount rates on Golfzing and soon Golfnow, and introduced Players Club at $33.98 a month with $10 rates after 3:00. Greens will stay fast....

Typically county golf courses do over 90K rounds a year. It is not AGC's fault that these courses are some of the busiest in the country. Very hard to control pace of play.

American Golf management is completely turned over last 4 years. American Golf is the only company that offers Players Club and have over 45,000 members. The old AGC used to peel the paint off the walls, new AGC does not.
