Coming to Texas for the weekend and looking for some suggestions for public courses. I am open to a high end (bucket list type, I know most of those are private) and some overall good courses. Price range can be anywhere from $30-$80 but willing to splurge at least once.

Also anywhere within an hour drive of Fort Worth area. Are the courses in the area going through maintenance at this time? I checked the website and all courses are green just not sure how up to date that is.

thanks

here is my input:

1. Cowboy Club in Grapevine - is the "premier" public course in the metroplex, it will set you back $199, but you get drinks and all the food you can eat.
2. Old American Club - in "The Colony", very nice course, priced a smudge better than cowboy club....has some very nice lake views. This course hosts an LPGA event each year.
3. Texas Star in Euless
4. Coyote Ridge in Carrollton
5. Waterchase in Ft. Worth

Overrated and overpriced: The Tribute and Tour 18.

If the wife and i were not heading to Vegas, we would meet up with you and play

Thanks for the input. Played Waterchase and Texas Star and had a great time at both courses. I plan on doing some reviews soon.

Cool....it does go without saying that Texas golf does not compare to California golf....you wouldnt expect TX golf to cost more than CA golf, yet it does (at least to me)

Thanks for the input. I'll be heading to Dallas sometime next year for a family visit.
