I'm doing a solo golf trip to the Palm Spring area and want to know if Rams Hill is worth driving to. I could be staying in the Palm Springs area and play a round and a replay at IW, PGA West or La Quinta Resort. Is Rams Hill worth the drive and worth not playing an extra round?

TIA.

Tough question. Its really nice to play 2 rounds in a day and the courses at La Quinta are pretty nice but neither is as nice as Rams Hill. Not sure how long that drive is but from Palm Springs it shouldn't be bad. I don't know if Rams Hill has a discounted replay rate but if they do that wold be my choice hands down.
If you just wanted to stay in Palm Springs area PGA west and Eagle Falls would also be a really nice 2fer!

I could play 2 rounds at Rams Hill but don't want to drive back to Palm Springs by myself in the dark. It's about an hour and a half drive.

Rams Hill is an awesome course, one of the top dozen I have ever played. However, it's an EASY decision on whether to play Rams Hill once or some combination of PGA West Stadium plus another top tier local course. Stay in P.S, and get in your 2 rounds and save yourself the drive. Stadium is very comparable with Rams Hill, and getting in an extra local round is well worth it.

If I could only play 2 rounds in greater Palm Springs on public courses, I personally would play Stadium and Firecliff for my best combination of playing conditions plus good layout. Throw in SilverRock, Classic Club, IW Players, IW Celebrity and Nicklaus Tournament as my other best local public course options.

The goal is long and straight! But since I can no longer hit them long, could I at least hit them straighter?

Agree with Nick. Rams Hill is awesome, but if playing Rams Hill means playing one less round overall (considering the caliber of course you'll play anyway), it's not worth the extra effort.

Are you already in S CA? If so, leave early and arrive into Rams Hill early AM. Finish the round and drive over to PS. I would assume that would be your first night? Get up early AM and go play 2 rounds. That's what I would do.

I forgot to note that I have already played all the courses I mentioned (except Rams Hill)

I'm driving from Orange County.
It would take me almost 3 hours to get to Rams Hill. Although I could leave at 5 and get there by 8 and grab some breakfast???
Definitely playing at 7:00 Am on the days I'm in Palm Springs (Day 2 and 3) if I don't go to Rams Hill.
I have the Troon card so Indian Wells, PGA West, La Quinta Resort or Westin Mission Hills are cheaper for the 36. Played Desert Willow 36 last year with my dad which was a great experience.
