Back in the summer I went to play my usual weekend round as a single walking player, I was set up with a 3 some that had at least 2 cases of beer in their cart. By the 3rd or 4th hole you could see the effects of the brew on their play and it progresively degraded as the game went on. By the turn 2 of them rushed to their car and brought more beer. You can only imagine what an afternoon it turn out to be...

What is your opinion of golfers that drink, drive the cart and attemp to play golf, all together.

Too funny. I had the exact same thing happen to me at Industry Hills on a Sunday morning. And we were first off. I can't imagine why someone would waste a $100 green fee by getting trashed on the course.

Nobody likes to drink beer more than me. But there are two times I will not drink. At work. And on the golf course. But that's just me.

Not just you pfuzzard, I also never drink and play.

figure.. 4 guys at $50 is 100 bucks just in green fees at a muni, plus the beer another $40 minimun.

4 great, big steaks at $10 a piece is $40. They have $100 left to set up a nice BBQ at somebodies home and buy as much beer as they can ever drink, wacamole, salsa and chips, loud music, loud talking, swearing, what ever. I think is a better time and deal to just to stay home, eat well and get waisted than going to a golf course and do the same thing. What ever happened to courtesy for another golfers on the course.

Sounds like this scramble tournament I played in once. Every hole, everyone has to down a beer. Every 3 holes, everyone takes a shot of tequila. You can drink for your teammate

The winning team shot 2 under. They had a scratch golfer and 3 alcoholics.

I like to have 2 beer when playing. I seem to get better as I go on. I guess I just care less if it's a bad shot, but ends up better then normal.

I hardly drink at all but there is nothing wrong with one at the turn, after the round or a couple during the round if you can hold it together.....nothing worse though than the guy(s) who are just blasted and their idea of a fun time is the "golf course" for a couple hours to get away from the wifey or their problems.....there are other places like a bar for those guys.

I like to have a couple-few beers while I play. It relaxes me and, frankly, I don't know how you guys play without drinking! LOL. But there is a limit and consideration of others while playing/drinking.

Just a couple of weeks ago at El Cariso I had the displeasure of playing behind a foursome of college-age kids who brought in a couple of shopping bags full of beer. Needless to say, it was a joke to them. Everone within earshot got to listen to them hooting and hollering while playing some poor golf and falling behind. We got to finish the last hole in the dark.

I hate to admit it, but that was me about 20 years ago. I would like to apologize and hope my more recent behavior has balanced the karma.

Aw those days were fun! But it's been 4 or 5 years ago since. Things changed I guess. We used to have all kinds of game and none of them excluded a drink hole for one. My flask is probably all rusty now in the closet (lol). Some of the guys I'm with don't own one, but it's kept in a nice Glen Fedich box. It was just all crazy fun with golf, back then. It was also difficult to do it in public courses. You never know who is on the course with you... We wouldn't dare. We have about a dozen courses we rotated, they were all private courses, and had a party golf sorta speak. We were serious with the "game-ing itself" but beer and whatever is in each flask/bottle would be in our system. Bets would be pretty expensive. I don't remember anyone backing off from any stoopld press that would come up. We still visit all the same courses, but like I said things change and a few of us don't drink on the course anymore and not much of clubhouse drinking either.

I guess what I'm about to say something un popular, once again. It's up to anyone to do whatever they want to do in golf or on the course. BUT, if anyone wants to get soused while playing golf, leave me out of it and I'll find another group. If I'm the single and joined the threesome that wants to drown in beer, I would easily ask to change group from the starter and excuse my self from the group specially if it's out of hand.

I'm sure most of you have seen this old flick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qPrR49qsDc

It's nice to be able to go out for a round of golf. It's never a perfect round for me out there. But trying to make it a better round than ever makes it really fun!
