Played a 4 hour round on a recent Friday. This course is in as good of condition as it ever gets, except for Hole #14 which is still half flooded and playing as a Par 3. Hard to beat the value when the course is in decent shape, as it is now.

Considering their resources, the course was in very good conditions. The greens are extremely slow and in many cases bumpy, although it was hard to tell with the naked eye.

Played on Sunday 3/16. I went in with the following expections... a) I wouldn't have to wait too long to get on as a single; b) the course would be a little shaggy due to the recent rain; c) the greens would be slow because they always are; d) the staff would be friendly, and e) I'd pay under $30 because of the SF resident card. I was not disappointed. I was able to get on the course in about 15 minutes from the time I gave the pro shop my name, and although my playing partners weren't the most skilled golfers... they were friendly, courteous, and a lot of fun to play with. The layout is a lot of fun too, and eventhough circumstances have changed it a bit from it's original form, you can still see a lot of the McKenzie influence. The course is not in good condition, but not horrible either. They do a pretty good job for not having a lot of resources. So yes, there will be some fluffy lies in the fairway, and some bad divots on the tee box -- It's not immaculate, but very playable. The greens are slow to excruciatingly slow, depending on what you're used to. There is definitely a local flare, and the staff is anything but snooty. All in all, for the $26 it costs with the resident card, it's great afternoon. I'd be willing to pay as much as $35 for this course, but maybe not a whole lot more.

One warning: For the next few weeks hole #14 will play as a par 3 instead of a par 4. The normal fairway is flooded, so you tee off from about 150 yards.

Not an 8 but About 6.5 to 7. Had a great day at sharp Park, with just a touch of rain. Played with three of the best guys you could be paired with (thanks). The course is in ok shape, but the greens are SLOW and I keep leaving puts short. All of the guys keep saying your at Sharp Park. Staff a 10, gave me local rates $36.00 to walk with pull cart. Give it a try if you are in the area.

I played Sharp Park on November 1st. 07 and found the course to be in excellent condition. The greens are beautiful and show no sign of the recent spiking. The fairways are clean and fast with very few bad lies. It is a beautiful Alister Mackenzie layout right on the coast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I walked up at 10:00 AM with out a tee time and was playing by 10:30 with three very good golfers who were also fun to play with. There is a full bar and good eats at the restaurant. All and all, an excellent value and a great experience.

The -'s . . . unlevel tee boxes, spongy grass that grabs your club, and greens that can give you fits . . . too slow and bumpy, I couldn't make a putt there in two rounds. I don't believe I could ever get the feel of these greens and everyone I played with had the same problem. If by some chance you are able to putt well here then it would be quite a worthwhile experience.

the kind of upgrade Harding did. Tough and fun in the wind.

What a shame. This is absolutely one of the most beautiful layouts in the Bay Area, heck California. A pure classic golf layout with beautiful cypress pine trees near the ocean. No blind tee shots or ridiculous elevation changes or houses at every fairway...just classic minimal undulation with cypress pines and other pines lining virtually every fairway. A natural lake lined with reeds and cattails, sounds of hawks and the ocean add to the beauty. I can only imagine what this course would be like if it got the Harding Park make over treatment. Alistar Mackenzie, designer of Augusta National, Cypress Point, and Pasatiempo originally designed this golf course. I enjoy every hole on this course, except it pains me to see the lack of maintenance. Somebody please rescue this gem of a course! Harding Park got rescued (and now it's world class)...this should be next.

Played Sunday 11/6/05. The course itself was not in bad shape. Being right on the coast, the fairways and greens are allways soft. The major problem with this muni is the staff. As a whole, they are uncaring and don't know the first thing about customer service. From the bartender who is always too busy playing dice with some of the locals instead of getting someone a cup of coffe, to the kitchen staff that makes you wait 30 minutes for a sandwich at the turn. Very sad as it makes for a negitive experience.
